Someone had to get the ax with Anibal Sanchez returning from the disabled list on Sunday, and Miller happened to be the casualty. The 26-year-old posted a 3.48 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 5/1 K/BB ratio in 10 1/3 innings with the Tigers this season. He'll be back the next time that they need a bullpen arm. May 18 - 5:19 PM

Miller had a 1.69 ERA in 5 1/3 innings with Detroit earlier this month. He will pitch in middle relief.

Miller pitched very well during his four-game stint with the team, surrendering just one run (1.69 ERA) on four hits while striking out three. He'll likely be back to work in middle relief the next time the Tigers need a bullpen arm.

The club has yet to announce a corresponding move. Miller, 26, was off to a nice start at Toledo, tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings with a 6/1 K/BB ratio. He'll work in the middle innings.

Miller is the only one of the group that might have entered camp with an outside shot of landing an Opening Day roster spot. He allowed five runs -- three earned -- over his five spring innings and will now provide depth at Triple-A.

Miller is now on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old posted an ugly 7.67 ERA and 33/16 K/BB ratio 27 innings with the Rangers' Double-A and Triple-A affiliates this past season before being given his release in September, but he latched on with the Tigers a couple of weeks later.

Miller is almost fully recovered from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery but still needs to build some strength in his right arm. He should become a relief option for the Rangers around the All-Star break.
