Socolovich was outrighted off the Braves' 40-man roster last month, but he'll get another shot after posting strong numbers at the Triple-A level. The 31-year-old right-hander figures to operate in middle relief for Atlanta.

The right-hander has struggled mightily out of the Cardinals' bullpen this season, registering an 8.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 14/4 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings. Given how well he pitched the previous two seasons, he could attract interest on waivers.

Miguel Socolovich earned a three-inning save Monday in the Cardinals' defeat of the Marlins.

Socolovich gave up a solo homer to Giancarlo Stanton in the bottom of the ninth, but he was able to finish off the 9-4 victory and secure a night off for the rest of the St. Louis bullpen. It was the 30-year-old right-hander's first career save.

Socolovich has posted a nice 1.89 ERA and 32/12 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 relief innings for the Cards the last two seasons. He'll work in the middle of games.

Socolovich was very good out of the St. Louis bullpen last year and he had been posting good numbers this season at Triple-A. The right-hander will fill a middle relief role in his return to the majors.
