Marwin Gonzalez (finger) is back in the Astros' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Angels.

Gonzalez has been bothered by soreness in his left index finger for over a week, but it's apparently feeling much better now. He will start in left field and bat sixth Tuesday versus Angels left-hander Hector Santiago.

His left index finger remains too sore to hit left-handed. "It feels a little better," Gonzalez said. "Still ways to go, I've been swinging 60 percent in the cage the last two days, just right-handed. I haven't tried left-handed, it hurts more left-handed. Getting closer."

It's his third absence in a row and his fifth in the last six games. Gonzalez isn't sure when he'll return to the lineup. He's mostly played first base since the arrival of Carlos Correa. Luis Valbuena will play that position on Saturday.

Marwin Gonzalez will be unavailable Friday after his left index finger swelled up on him again.

Gonzalez returned to aciton on Wednesday but had to be removed after just four innings. It's unclear at this point how long Gonzalez might be sidelined, but this certainly isn't an encouraging development. Chris Carter is at first base Friday.

Marwin Gonzalez hit a walk-off home run in the 10th inning as the Astros topped the Rays 3-2 on Tuesday.

Gonzalez took Rays closer Brad Boxberger deep to cap the comeback win. He also had an RBI double in the game, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. Gonzalez has eight homers, 27 RBI, 32 runs scored and a .274/.313/.444 batting line on the season.

Gonzalez was sporting a noticeable limp when he left the clubhouse after the game. He should ultimately be fine but could need a couple days of rest.

Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a solo home run in Monday's win over the Indians.

Gonzalez knocked in the fourth and final run in the first inning against Carlos Carrasco. He added a solo home run in the seventh inning against reliever Jeff Manship. Gonzalez hasn't been much to write home about at the plate this year, hitting .256/.280/.422 with six home runs and 20 RBI.

Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored as the Astros held off the Tigers on Sunday.

Jose Altuve wasn't in the lineup Sunday as he was getting a day of rest. Gonzalez took second base in his stead and performed admirably, contributing to a 10-run outburst on the afternoon. He's hitting .263/.271/.421 on the year with two home runs, 12 RBI, and 13 runs scored.

Marwin Gonzalez hit a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Rangers.

The utility infielder got his first home run of the season out of the way early, going deep off Yovani Gallardo in the third inning. He finished the game 2-for-4. In 285 at-bats last season, Gonzalez hit .277/.327/.400 with six homers and 23 RBI. He's not worth consideration in fantasy leagues, but as a real-life player, he provides the Astros position flexibility and a nice little bench bat.
