Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Reds.
Batting second and playing first base, Gonzalez hit the two-run shot in the first inning against Reds rookie Cody Reed. Quietly, the 27-year-old is hitting .339 this month and has been promoted to the two hole between George Springer and Jose Altuve in recent days. It's a nice spot to be, and owners in AL-only and deep mixed leagues should take notice, especially if he has multi-position eligibility in their league. Jun 18 - 8:04 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Rangers.

Gonzalez's third-inning homer off Rangers starter Cesar Ramos would be the only run the Astros scored on the evening. With the loss, the once-upon-a-time plucky Astros fell to 17-27. For his part, Gonzalez is slashing .234/.281/.421 with four homers, eight doubles, 11 RBI and four steals over 107 at-bats. He has potential double-digit pop in his bat, but not enough to make his fantasy prospects glow.
May 21 - 10:07 PM

Marwin Gonzalez (foot) went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in his return to action Tuesday.

He fouled a ball off his right foot over the weekend, but it resulted in nothing more than a bruise. Gonzalez is slashing .240/.290/.410 over 32 games this season.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said on SportsTalk 790 that he hopes Marwin Gonzalez (foot) will be available Tuesday.

Gonzalez was unavailable Sunday after fouling a ball off his right foot during Saturday's game. There was some speculation that he could be headed to the disabled list in order to make room for Colin Moran's call-up, but that's not the corresponding roster move.

Marwin Gonzalez is dealing with a sore right foot.

Gonzalez fouled a ball off the foot Saturday. He's expected back in the lineup on Tuesday.
May 15 - 12:45 PM

Marwin Gonzalez launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the 16th inning to boost the Astros to a 5-3 win over the Indians on Wednesday.

One out after Carlos Correa reached on an infield single in the 16th, Gonzalez stepped up with a two-run home run against Cody Anderson to mercifully put an end to the marathon. It was his third homer of the year. Through 81 at-bats, Gonzalez is slashing .247/.307/.444 with three steals and nine RBI.
May 11 - 7:49 PM

Marwin Gonzalez smashed his first home run of the season on Sunday in a losing effort against the Red Sox.

His solo shot off Red Sox starter Henry Owens got the Astros on the board in the second inning. Gonzalez has been struggling at the plate in the early going, slashing a mere .250/.270/.417 with two RBI.
Apr 25 - 1:13 AM

Marwin Gonzalez went 0-for-3 before being lifted from Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Gonzalez was incredibly hot all spring, yet here he is with a .192/.222/.269 line in his first 26 regular-season at-bats. With Tyler White now secure at first base, it doesn't look like Gonzalez will see as much playing time as expected going forward.
Apr 21 - 12:52 AM

Marwin Gonzalez will start at first base and bat eighth Tuesday against the Yankees.

This game was supposed to be played on Monday afternoon, but it had to be postponed due to wet and chilly weather conditions in the New York City area. Gonzalez is getting the Opening Day over Tyler White, who should ultimately claim the majority of the playing time at first base until top prospect A.J. Reed arrives.
Apr 4 - 10:13 AM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-3 and hit his fourth homer of the spring Tuesday against the Nationals.

The homer came off Gio Gonzalez. Marwin was expected to play some first base and third base against lefties this year, while serving as a backup at the middle infield spots as well, but he's making a case for the starting job at first with his huge spring. He hit .279/.317/.442 in his 344 at-bats last season, so it's not completely outlandish.
Mar 15 - 4:50 PM

Astros and INF Marwin Gonzalez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract.

Terms of the deal aren't known. Gonzalez batted .279/.317/.442 with 12 homers for the Astros last season and should see plenty of playing time off the bench again this campaign.

Marwin Gonzalez (finger) is back in the Astros' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Angels.

Gonzalez has been bothered by soreness in his left index finger for over a week, but it's apparently feeling much better now. He will start in left field and bat sixth Tuesday versus Angels left-hander Hector Santiago.

Marwin Gonzalez (finger) is available to pinch-hit right-handed on Monday.

His left index finger remains too sore to hit left-handed. "It feels a little better," Gonzalez said. "Still ways to go, I've been swinging 60 percent in the cage the last two days, just right-handed. I haven't tried left-handed, it hurts more left-handed. Getting closer."

He's sat out four straight and six out of the last seven due to a sore left index finger. Luis Valbuena is at first base.

Marwin Gonzalez (thumb) remained out of the Astros' lineup Saturday against the Athletics.

It's his third absence in a row and his fifth in the last six games. Gonzalez isn't sure when he'll return to the lineup. He's mostly played first base since the arrival of Carlos Correa. Luis Valbuena will play that position on Saturday.
