Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-4 and scored two runs in a win over the Angels on Saturday.
He singled and rode home on an Evan Gattis three-run homer in the fifth inning, then doubled and scored on a Carlos Correa single in the seventh. Gonzalez is blowing away his previous career highs in just about every category with a breakout campaign at the age of 28. Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Astros beat the Angels 5-1 on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Gonzalez delivered a two-run double in the eighth inning to tack on a pair of insurance runs. The super utility man got the start in left field in this one. He has had a spectacular season, hitting .294/.366/.517 with 21 homers and 80 RBI.

The Astros are bringing back Carlos Correa on Friday, which could result in fewer at-bats for Gonzalez. He'll surely see less time in the infield, though he can still play left and do some DHing.

It was a solo blast in the bottom of the seventh inning against A's starter Jharel Cotton, but the Astros were held off the board from there in the eventual 3-2 loss. Gonzalez has an excellent .307/.382/.554 batting line through 103 games this season with first-place Houston.

Gonzalez pulled a ground ball to the right side in the fourth inning, glancing off the second baseman's glove and into right field to score two. It was his only hit in three at-bats. It's been a heck of a breakout year for the 28-year-old, who ranks among the league leaders in batting average (.308), slugging percentage (.548) and OPS (.932) while setting career highs in basically every statistical category.

The Astros fell behind 6-0 before finally trying to make a game of things via a four-run eighth inning. Gonzalez would hit an RBI double in that frame, but the Astros did not score in any other inning as they fell by a 6-4 final. Tough result aside, Gonzalez continues to have himself a charmed 2017 season. He is hitting .314/.391/.571 on the year with 20 homers and 68 RBI in 95 games played. He has collected doubles in each of his last two games.

Gonzalez had a pair of singles on the night, with one of them plating a run in the Astros' four-run sixth inning. He also stole his fifth base of the season. Gonzalez will be the team's primary shortstop while Carlos Correa (thumb) is on the shelf.

Marwin Gonzalez blasted a pinch-hit, three-run bomb in an 8-4 win over the Orioles on Saturday.

He came in to replace Colin Moran in the middle of an at-bat after the young third baseman took a foul ball to the eye and had to be carted off the field in the sixth inning. Gonzalez promptly launched a three-run tater to put his club in the lead to stay. He added a double in his second at-bat. The veteran infielder has been one of the biggest surprises in the game this year. He offers multi-position eligibility in fantasy leagues and is slashing .316/.394/.593 with 18 homers and 58 RBI in 79 games.

Gonzalez drove in a run with a single in the Astros’ eight-run second inning and slugged a solo homer in his next at-bat in the third. He’s now driven in at least one run in eight straight games. The biggest surprise in the Astros’ lethal attack, Gonzalez is batting .314/.395/.590 with 17 home runs and 55 RBI through 72 games.

He went deep off Joe Biagini with two outs in the ninth inning. The 388-foot blast was Gonzalez’s only hit of the afternoon. The 28-year-old has had a monster first half, slashing .312/.396/.587 over 218 at-bats for the first-place 'Stros. He’s already set career-highs in both home runs and RBI.
