Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-6 with a homer and drove in five runs against the Athletics on Monday.
Two of those RBI came on a two-run shot off of Chris Hatcher in the fourth inning. Gonzalez hasn't put up the same kind of numbers he did in the 2017 season, but he's starting to swing the bat better as of late, and he's "upped" his line to .248/.338/.368 on the year to go along with three homers and 22 RBI. Marwin Gonzalez is not in the Astros' starting lineup for Friday's interleague showdown against the Diamondbacks.

While he's sitting to start the game, given his versatility and the fact that the game is being played in a National League park, he'll surely work his way into action at some point. The 29-year-old is off to a disappointing start, slashing just .229/.320/.333 with a pair of homers and 17 RBI.
May 4 - 7:10 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Athletics.

The Swiss Army knife continues to come around at the dish, as Sunday was his fifth multi-hit game in his last 10. That stretch -- he's 13-for-37 (.351) in those 10 games -- has his season line progressing after a slow start at the dish. Through Sunday, the 29-year-old is hitting .239/.333/.359 overall.
Apr 29 - 6:29 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in Saturday's win over the White Sox.

Gonzalez put the exclamation point on a four-run first inning by the Astros via his two-run ground rule double. He later picked up a single. While he remains a very versatile player, Gonzalez has come out of the gates horribly flat after turning in a surprisingly robust body of work in 2017. This season, he's slashing just .200/.305/.300 with one home run and nine RBI across 70 at-bats.
Apr 22 - 12:20 AM

Marwin Gonzalez went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Twins on Tuesday and is batting just .179.

Gonzalez has started every game for the Astros so far, as seemed liked with Yuli Gurriel on the disabled list. Gurriel is close to returning, though, and it will be interesting to see if Gonzalez remains a fixture afterwards. He'll surely continue to play most of the time, at least initially, but he's going to need to hit to ensure his presence.
Apr 10 - 11:37 PM

Marwin Gonzalez belted his first home run of the season Monday in the Astros' win over the Orioles.

It was a fourth-inning solo shot off Orioles starter Chris Tillman. Do homers allowed by Tillman still count in fantasy leagues? Gonzalez played both first base and shortstop in this one, with Carlos Correa exiting in the third inning due to discomfort in his left big toe.
Apr 2 - 10:44 PM

Marwin Gonzalez homered off Odrisamer Despaigne in the Astros' 6-2 defeat of the Marlins on Sunday in the Grapefruit League.

Gonzalez is now batting .321 with an .859 OPS this spring. The versatile 29-year-old slashed .303/.377/.530 with 23 homers and 90 RBI over 134 games in 2017. And yet he's still going late in drafts, even with a good avenue to regular playing time with the defending World Series champions.
Mar 25 - 3:59 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a walk against the Nationals on Thursday.

Rather than giving him a starting spot at any position, the Astros intend to keep using Gonzalez as a utilityman this year. He should still be in the lineup regularly early on, but he might be more vulnerable to losing playing time if he doesn't get off to a fast start. Of course, that's not showing any signs of happening at the moment; he has a .992 OPS in 32 at-bats this spring.
Mar 15 - 5:06 PM

Astros exercised INF/OF Marwin Gonzalez's $5.125 million option for 2018.

It wasn't a difficult decision after Gonzalez had a breakout 2017 season that saw him bat .303/.377/.530 with 23 homers and 90 RBI. The 28-year-old would appear at the moment to be in line to start in left field for Houston in 2018, but his versatility allows the club to put him at a different position depending on how the offseason goes.

Marwin Gonzalez hit a game-tying homer off of Kenley Jansen in the top of the ninth inning of a game the Astros eventually won in extra-innings over the Dodgers in game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday.

There were so many late, clutch hits, but the only reason that was the case was because Gonzalez shocked everyone with a homer on an 0-2 pitch from Jansen to opposite-field. In fact, it was Gonzalez first opposite-field homer of the season. It's just another example of how incredibly deep this Houston lineup truly is. He should be back in the lineup on Friday in Game 3 in Houston.

Marwin Gonzalez went 0-for-3 at the plate Monday against the Yankees.

Gonzalez did walk and score the Astros' only run in the ninth inning. However, he's now hitless in the first three games of the ALCS. It's hard to believe he'll get benched even for a game, though, given the season he had for the 'Stros.

Marwin Gonzalez hit a three-run double and finished 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Red Sox.

Eduardo Rodriguez played with fire in the first inning, loading the bases with two outs, and Gonzalez made him pay, lacing a pitch to right-center that rolled nearly all the way to the wall and cleared the bases in the process. The 28-year-old is finishing strong after a late-season lull threatened to put a small black mark on what has otherwise been a breakout year for Gonzalez. With 12 hits in his last 20 at-bats, Gonzalez is now batting .305/.375/.533 with 23 homers, 90 RBI, 67 runs scored and eight steals to date.

Marwin Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored in the Astros' 11-2 thrashing of the Rangers on Monday.

Gonzalez struck out in his first at-bat, but he filled the box score from there. The 28-year-old slugger led off the top of the fourth inning with a single and then drove in two runs with another single later in that eight-run frame for Houston. Gonzalez belted a solo homer in the top of the sixth and added one more single for good measure in the top of the eighth. He's slashing .302/.371/.531 with 23 homers and 85 RBI in 129 games this season for the American League West champions.
Mon, Sep 25, 2017 11:56:00 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-4 and scored two runs in a win over the Angels on Saturday.

He singled and rode home on an Evan Gattis three-run homer in the fifth inning, then doubled and scored on a Carlos Correa single in the seventh. Gonzalez is blowing away his previous career highs in just about every category with a breakout campaign at the age of 28. He has a .296 batting average with 22 homers, 82 RBI and 61 runs -- all career bests. He's chipped in eight stolen bases. His multi-position versatility will enable him to qualify at every fantasy position except catcher next year in most formats.

Marwin Gonzalez was ejected from Friday's game against the Angels for arguing balls and strikes.

Astros' manager A.J. Hinch came out to defend his player and was also given the gate. Prior to departing, Gonzalez was 0-for-2 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
