Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a two-run double and a run scored Friday against the Rangers.

Gonzalez had a pair of doubles on the night and is now batting .272/.320/.398 with six homers and 22 RBI through 91 games this season. While he's not much of a fantasy option, he has hit leadoff each of the last two games with Robbie Grossman (hamstring) sidelined.

Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a couple of doubles Monday against the A's.

The second double shouldn't have been a double; it was either a single and a two-base error or a triple, depending on how the scorer wanted to treat the ball bouncing past Josh Reddick in the right-field corner. Instead, the scorer gave him a double even though Gonzalez initially stopped after rounding first. Regardless, it was a nice game for Gonzalez, who had been hitting just .215/.271/.308 in 65 at-bats this month. He could use a nice hot streak to finish the month or he might lose most of his playing time to Jonathan Villar in September.
Aug 25 - 11:35 PM

Marwin Gonzalez finished Friday's game 1-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored.

The fifth inning home run, a solo shot off of Indians starter Carlos Carrasco, was Gonzalez's sixth of the season. Gonzalez won't knock over the light stanchion, but he does have a bit of pop in his bat, which makes him an interesting bench shortstop in deeper AL-only leagues. For the year, Gonzalez is slashing .263/.309/.373 with six home runs and twenty RBI in 228 ABs.

Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) is not in the Astros' lineup Wednesday.

Gonzalez is still nursing soreness in his right hamstring after tweaking it last week. He'll avoid the disabled list for the time being, but the Astros will be cautious with his playing time.
Jul 30 - 11:00 AM

Marwin Gonzalez has returned to the Astros starting lineup on Saturday.

Gonzalez sat out Friday's game as he was dealing with soreness in his right hamstring. The 25-year-old shortstop is hitting .271/.323/.394 with four homers and 14 RBI in his 64 games this season.
Jul 26 - 3:39 PM

Marwin Gonzalez is in the Astros' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon versus the Athletics.

Gonzalez was pulled from Wednesday's game with soreness in his right hamstring -- something he's been dealing with since last week. But it's a manageable injury and he'll start at shortstop on Thursday. Gonzalez is batting .294/.333/.412 so far in July. He took over starting duties from Jonathan Villar at the end of June.
Jul 24 - 1:33 PM

Marwin Gonzalez was pulled from Wednesday's loss to the A's with soreness in his right hamstring.

"It happened the second game in Chicago (on Saturday), I got sore running the bases and since that day I’ve been playing with (soreness)," Gonzalez told reporters late Wednesday night. "So I’ve been dealing with it." The shortstop is hoping to play in Thursday's series finale. He's hit well since taking over for Jonathan Villar.
Jul 24 - 9:01 AM

Marwin Gonzalez hit his third homer of the year off Seattle's Taijuan Walker in Monday's game.

Gonzalez has looked like a better player than Jonathan Villar all year, and now he'll get a chance to prove it with Villar getting sent down. He doesn't have Villar's mixed-league upside since he's not a basestealer, but he should prove to be an upgrade at shortstop for the Astros.
Jul 1 - 12:31 AM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's loss to the Athletics.

Gonzalez' solo shot off A's starter Jesse Chavez was the Astros' only run on the day. The infielder, getting a spot start at third base in place of Matt Dominguez, finished with two of the Astros' five hits. The 25-year-old earned a bench spot with a strong spring and is hitting .313 in part-time duty to start the season.
Apr 20 - 8:10 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-3 and hit his fifth double of the spring to fuel the Astros' come-from-behind win over a Nationals split-squad on Wednesday.

Gonzalez had his nice day off the bench after starting shortstop Jonathan Villar made his fourth and fifth errors of the spring. Villar's starting job wasn't supposed to be in doubt this spring, but if he keeps up the sloppy play, Gonzalez might be a factor at shortstop. He's 10-for-23 at the plate, while Villar is 6-for-21 with a homer.

Astros recalled INF Marwin Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Gonzalez will provide middle infield depth behind Jonathan Villar and Jake Elmore. He batted .230/.250/.339 in 54 games with the Astros earlier this season.

Astros optioned INF Marwin Gonzalez to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Gonzalez had been playing a bit more than Ronny Cedeno at shortstop, but he's batted just .230/.250/.339. The Astros haven't announced a corresponding move, but Jake Elmore and Jonathan Villar are options.

Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt in his return to action Monday.

Gonzalez hadn't played since last Wednesday due to a minor hamstring injury. The Astros will have to hope that the extended rest did him some good.

Marwin Gonzalez is nursing a minor hamstring injury.

Gonzalez could play if needed, so it's not considered a big deal. He should return to the lineup soon enough. Ronny Cedeno is at shortstop Wednesday.
