Mets signed OF Mike Wilson to a minor league contract.
According to Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger, the deal does not include an invite to major league spring training. Wilson, 29, batted .239/.343/.452 with 12 homers and a .795 OPS in 71 games last season with the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate and figures to serve as organizational depth for New York. Mariners sent OF Mike Wilson outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Wilson was designated for assignment earlier this month and accepted a minor league assignment after clearing waivers. The 28-year-old outfielder batted .148 (4-for-27) in eight games at the major league level last season.

Mariners designated OF Mike Wilson for assignment.

Wilson made his major league debut last season at the age of 28, but failed to impress while batting just .148/.179/.185 in 28 plate appearances. He seems likely to accept a spot with the Mariners' Triple-A club.

Mariners optioned OF Mike Wilson to Triple-A Tacoma.

He was cleared to make room for Mike Carp on the active roster. Wilson batted .148 over 27 at-bats in a little under a month with the big club.

Mike Wilson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Padres on Saturday.

Wilson had been 1-for-11 since being called up on May 9. The Mariners' plan is to use him strictly against left-handers, though that could always change if he heats up. It's not like Michael Saunders or Carlos Peguero figures to run away with the starting job in left field.

Mariners purchased the contract of OF Mike Wilson from Triple-A Tacoma.

Wilson isn't really much of a prospect, but he was off to a nice start at Tacoma, batting .381/.429/.683 with four homers. The Mariners are hoping he'll provide some offense to a team desperately seeking it. He figures to get most of his playing time in left field at the expense of Milton Bradley, but he could also see time in the DH spot and in center field when Michael Saunders needs a day off.

The Mariners will call up outfield prospect Mike Wilson before Tuesday's game.

Wilson is off to a great start at Triple-A Tacoma, batting .381/.429/.683 with four homers, and the M's are hoping he can give a jolt to their offense. He figures to get most of his playing time in left field while also getting the occasional start in the DH slot. The 27-year-old isn't really viewed as an impact bat at the major league level, but he's worth a shot in AL-only leagues.

Mariners signed OF Mike Wilson to a minor league contract.

The 27-year-old Wilson turned in a solid 864 OPS and 10 stolen bases in 88 games this past season at Triple-A Tacoma. He could be used as a backup outfielder next year at the big league level.

Mike Wilson went 3-for-5 with two walks in a doubleheader for Double-A West Tenn in his season debut on Thursday.

Wilson nearly forced the Mariners to carry him by leading the team with eight homers and 20 RBI in 69 at-bats this season, but he didn't make the team and he injured his ankle prior to the start of the minor league season. He figures to move up to Triple-A Tacoma once his rehab is complete.

Michael Wilson hit two more homers and drove in five runs Monday against the Brewers.

Wilson, who was released and later re-signed by the Mariners last month, leads the team with seven homers and 18 RBI this spring. It won't earn him a job, but at least his name will be sharp in the team's mind when an outfielder is needed this summer.

Michael Wilson homered twice and double in the Mariners' 9-3 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Wilson, who was released and re-signed by the Mariners last month, entered the day 2-for-26 with 17 strikeouts. He's not a candidate to make the team as a bench player.

Mariners re-signed outfielder Michael Wilson to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Wilson was released just a few days ago to make room on the 40-man roster for Ken Griffey Jr. Even though the 25-year-old hasn't received a whiff of the major leagues in seven years, he obviously feels comfortable within the organization. Wilson hit 27 dingers and 84 RBI in 119 Double-A games last season.

Mariners released outfielder Michael Wilson.

The move was necessary in order to make room for Ken Griffey Jr. on the 40-man roster. The team's second-round pick in 2001, Wilson spent seven years in the minors and didn't get a sniff of the big leagues. A change of scenery could help, but we wouldn't count on him having an illustrious major league career with any club.

Mariners purchased the contract of outfielder Michael Wilson.

The Mariners have decided against allowing Wilson to become a minor league free agent after he hit .276/.388/.549 with 27 homers for Double-A San Antonio. It was his third year at the level after he was promoted in the middle of 2006. The 25-year-old Wilson has terrific power, but there's not much else to his game. He remains a long shot to develop into a major leaguer.

Michael Wilson hit his sixth and seventh homers Thursday for Waikiki of the Hawaiian Winter League.

Wilson is tied with Mat Gamel and Ian Gac for the home run lead in the four-team league. Those three also top the circuit in OPS, but at 1171, Wilson has the lead by more than 100 points.
