Adonis Garcia is expected to miss two months following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left ring finger.
It's been a frustrating season for the 32-year-old third baseman, who just missed a couple of weeks with an Achilles injury and now figures to be out until mid-to-late August. Garcia has also produced a weak .247/.282/.351 batting line in the time he has not been on the disabled list. Rio Ruiz is currently serving as the Braves' primary starter at third base. Garcia sprained his finger while taking a swing on Tuesday. At this juncture, the timetable for his return has yet to be cemented into place, but given the fact that the Braves initially expected him to be able to pinch hit on Wednesday, he might not need more than the minimum 10 days.

Garcia, out for two weeks with Achilles tendinitis, is 5-for-10 (.500) through three games on his rehab stint. He should be cleared to rejoin the Braves within the next couple of days. The 32-year-old was batting just .237/.278/.348 over 34 games prior to hitting the disabled list.

Adonis Garcia hit a three-run home run in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.

Garcia was the only Braves hitter able to break through against Cards starter Mike Leake, jumping on the first pitch he saw in the seventh inning for the three-run jack. The homer was his third of the season, and his first since April 21. Garcia endured a rough start to the year, and even with hits in 13 of his last 15 games the 32-year-old is hitting just .239/.263/.349 overall.

Adonis Garcia went 2-for-4 with a home run in a win over the Padres on Saturday.

It was a game of firsts for Garcia -- his first homer of the year, his first multi-hit game of the year, and his first extra-base hit since his second game of the year. The homer, off Padres starter Clayton Richard in the sixth inning, pushed the Braves' lead to two after Brandon Phillips hit a go-ahead homer a few minutes prior. The team's everyday third baseman, Garcia is batting just .179/.220/.282 on the year and will need to pick it up if he hopes to hold onto the starting gig beyond April.

He is on the Braves' travel roster for the game at Nationals camp in West Palm. Garcia has been out for the last 10 days due to a hamstring strain, but it appears he should be fine for the opening of the 2017 regular season.
