Braves GM John Coppolella said that Adonis Garcia is currently the team's first option at third base.
The Braves are hoping to transition Hector Olivera to the outfield, which could open starts at third. Coppolella did note that Garcia's not guaranteed to start at the hot corner, but he'll at least see his share of opportunities. Said the Braves GM, "There are other guys that we like that could get opportunities there. But right now, I think [Garcia]'s earned first crack at it." The 30-year-old infielder saw 191 at-bats with the big club in 2015, hitting .277/.293/.497 with 10 homers and 26 RBI. Wed, Nov 11, 2015 08:49:00 PM

Adonis Garcia launched a pair of solo home runs in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.

Garcia deposited a hanging John Lackey curveball into the left-field seats in the fourth inning and then smacked a hanging changeup from Tyler Lyons into the same seats in the sixth. While he's managed just a .294 on-base percentage with the Braves, Garcia has banged out 10 homers in 187 at-bats.

Garcia was scratched Tuesday with a stiff back and will remain day-to-day the rest of the way. The 30-year-old Cuban corner man has shown a nice spark in limited action this season for the Braves, slashing .269/.286/.474 with eight home runs and 23 RBI in 54 games.

Adonis Garcia (leg) went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in his return to action Sunday.

Garcia missed Saturday's game after tweaking something in his leg while running the bases on Friday evening. It's obviously nothing to worry about. The 30-year-old corner infielder and outfielder has flashed some nice pop in his first major league season and should carry a bit of fantasy value over these next two weeks.

Adonis Garcia was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies with an apparent leg injury.

Garcia sustained the injury while legging out a double. He'll presumably head for further examination and the Braves should have an update on his status shortly.

Adonis Garcia went 3-for-5 with two RBI singles and three total RBI in Sunday's loss to the Mets.

Garcia singled home runs in the third and eighth innings, with an RBI double-play grounder sandwiched in-between. He's now driven in six runs in his last two games. For the season, the 30-year-old third-baseman is hitting .272/.282/.490 with eight homers and 18 RBI over 151 at-bats.

Adonis Garcia went 3-for-5 and hit his sixth homer Wednesday against the Rockies.

Garcia has shown ample pop, but he has a .256 OBP in 114 at-bats and he's a bad defender at third. He's due to become a backup next week when Hector Olivera arrives in the majors.

Adonis Garcia hit his fourth homer Thursday as the Braves edged the Marlins 9-8 on Thursday.

Garcia hit three homers in 331 at-bats in Triple-A. He has four in just 50 at-bats in the majors. Still, his average stands at .220 and he's drawn just two walks in his 14 games. Hector Olivera figures to be an upgrade at third base for the Braves once he's healthy.

Adonis Garcia sent the Braves home happy with a walk-off two-run home run in the 12th inning against the Giants on Monday.

The Braves had fallen behind 8-7 in the top half of the frame, but Garcia played hero when he drilled a two-run shot to right-center against Ryan Vogelsong. He finished 2-for-6 on the night with a double along with the homer. In 11 games in the majors this season, he has nine hits in 40 plate appearances. Six of those nine hits are extra-base hits (three doubles, three homers).
