The Braves officially released the 32-year-old on Wednesday to clear the way for his move overseas. After a strong showing as the club's everyday third baseman in 2016, Garcia hit just .237/.273/.347 with five homers and 19 RBI over 183 plate appearances in 2017. Jan 13 - 7:18 AM

Braves released 3B Adonis Garcia.

The move comes weeks after a report that Garcia had worked out a deal with the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization. This official release from the Braves clears him to make that venture into the KBO a reality. Garcia finished the 2017 season with a weak .620 OPS in 52 games with Atlanta.

Marcos Grunfeld of Sports Venezuela reports that Adonis Garcia has agreed to a deal with the LG Twins in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Financial terms are not yet known. There were rumors of Garcia heading to play internationally earlier in December, and it appears we now know where. The 32-year-old Cuban infielder showed flashes of talent in his time with the Braves, but he also struggled badly with consistency. Garcia batted just .237/.273/.347 in 52 games last season while missing three months with a torn ligament in his left ring finger. Barring a resurgence in the KBO, his time as a major leaguer is likely over.

Braves activated 3B Adonis Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia missed nearly three months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left ring finger. He was struggling prior to the injury and might have a limited role down the stretch.

Adonis Garcia (finger) is expected to be activated from the disabled list in a week when the Braves return home from a road trip.

He'll take batting practice for a couple days before starting a short rehab assignment. Garcia has been on the shelf since mid-June after having surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left ring finger. With Brandon Phillips settling in as the everyday third baseman, Garcia will likely be looking at a bench role.

Adonis Garcia (finger) could begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Garcia underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left ring finger in mid-June. He also missed two weeks with an Achilles injury earlier in the campaign. Should he keep on his current recovery track without setback, he could potentially rejoin the Braves in early September.

Adonis Garcia is expected to miss two months following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left ring finger.

It's been a frustrating season for the 32-year-old third baseman, who just missed a couple of weeks with an Achilles injury and now figures to be out until mid-to-late August. Garcia has also produced a weak .247/.282/.351 batting line in the time he has not been on the disabled list. Rio Ruiz is currently serving as the Braves' primary starter at third base.

Braves placed 3B Adonis Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained left ring finger.

Garcia sprained his finger while taking a swing on Tuesday. At this juncture, the timetable for his return has yet to be cemented into place, but given the fact that the Braves initially expected him to be able to pinch hit on Wednesday, he might not need more than the minimum 10 days.

Adonis Garcia went 4-for-6, stole two bases and scored a run in a win over the Reds on Saturday.

He had three singles and a double. He has four stolen bases on the season. Garcia was just activated from the disabled list on Friday after missing two weeks with a sore Achilles tendon. It must be healed if he is confident enough to swipe bases on it. He owns a .262 batting average with four homers, 17 runs and 16 RBI in 154 plate appearances.
