Adonis Garcia (heel) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett this weekend.

So long as Garcia can survive a few rehab games without setback, he will be activated from the disabled list on Monday or Tuesday. Achilles tendinitis has kept him on the shelf since May 16.

Adonis Garcia (Achilles) did some running without issues on Monday.

The infielder could be ready for activation when first eligible on Friday. Garcia has been out with tendinitis in his Achilles.
May 22 - 7:10 PM

Braves placed 3B Adonis Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with Achilles tendinitis.

That explains his absence from Tuesday's early-evening game against the Blue Jays. It's not clear how long Garcia might be sidelined. The third baseman was batting .237/.278/.348 with four home runs and 16 RBI through 34 games this season for Atlanta.
May 16 - 9:35 PM

Adonis Garcia hit a three-run home run in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.

Garcia was the only Braves hitter able to break through against Cards starter Mike Leake, jumping on the first pitch he saw in the seventh inning for the three-run jack. The homer was his third of the season, and his first since April 21. Garcia endured a rough start to the year, and even with hits in 13 of his last 15 games the 32-year-old is hitting just .239/.263/.349 overall.
May 6 - 10:24 PM

Adonis Garcia went 2-for-4 with a home run in a win over the Padres on Saturday.

It was a game of firsts for Garcia -- his first homer of the year, his first multi-hit game of the year, and his first extra-base hit since his second game of the year. The homer, off Padres starter Clayton Richard in the sixth inning, pushed the Braves' lead to two after Brandon Phillips hit a go-ahead homer a few minutes prior. The team's everyday third baseman, Garcia is batting just .179/.220/.282 on the year and will need to pick it up if he hopes to hold onto the starting gig beyond April.
Apr 16 - 12:45 AM

Adonis Garcia (hamstring) is expected to return to Grapefruit League action on Tuesday.

He is on the Braves' travel roster for the game at Nationals camp in West Palm. Garcia has been out for the last 10 days due to a hamstring strain, but it appears he should be fine for the opening of the 2017 regular season.

Adonis Garcia (hamstring) was held out of Grapefruit League action again on Saturday due to a minor hamstring injury.

He was able to run without issue on Thursday, but the Braves feel he would benefit by another couple of days off. Garcia is expected to return to game action on Monday.

Mar 16 - 4:39 PM

Adonis Garcia (hamstring) ran without issue Thursday morning in Braves camp.

Garcia has been held out of action all week after tweaking his hamstring last Saturday, but he told reporters after Thursday's workout that he should be ready to return to the Braves' Grapefruit League lineup soon. Garcia is batting .333 (8-for-24) with an .860 OPS in 25 plate appearances this spring.
Mar 16 - 10:49 AM

Adonis Garcia was forced to leave Saturday's Grapefruit League contest due to a sore hamstring.

Garcia pulled up lame while running to first base in the second inning and was lifted for Rio Ruiz. The injury sounds minor, but he'll probably rest a few days to be on the safe side.
Mar 11 - 3:48 PM

Adonis Garcia had a two-run homer and a walk Friday as the Braves beat a Mets split-squad 5-2.

Walks were about as unusual for Garcia as home runs last year; he had 20 unintentional walks and 14 homers in his 532 at-bats. The Braves are content with him at third base for now, so he should have some NL-only value early on. Maybe Rio Ruiz can come up and challenge him for the job in June or July.
Mar 10 - 4:17 PM

Adonis Garcia went 3-for-5 with a go-ahead RBI single in a 3-2 win over the Marlins.

The Braves trailed 2-0 early on, but they tied things up in the sixth inning before Garcia put them in front in the ninth. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a productive second half and is batting .274/.314/.413 with 14 homers and 63 RBI on the year.
