Pirates activated RHP Arquimedes Caminero from the 15-day disabled list.

He's back after missing about two weeks with a strained quad. Infielder Cole Figueroa was sent down in the corresponding roster move. Caminero hasn't helped the Pirates much this year. In 19 appearances he holds a disappointing 5.19 ERA with almost as many walks as strikeouts (14 Ks, 13 BB).

Arquimedes Caminero (quad) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Toledo torched him for four runs in his only inning of work. The right-hander has logged an unimpressive 5.19 ERA over 19 big league appearances this year. Obviously he'll need a few more rehab outings to shake off the rust.
Jun 4 - 10:27 AM

Pirates trainer Todd Tomczyk said that Arquimedes Caminero (quad) is nearing a rehab assignment.

Per Tomczyk, Caminero has responded well to throwing off the slope of the mound over the last week. He was placed on the disabled list on May 25. Prior to the injury, the 28-year-old right-hander owned a 5.19 ERA and 2.14 WHIP across 17 1/3 innings of relief.
Jun 1 - 8:53 PM

Pirates placed RHP Arquimedes Caminero on the 15-day disabled list with a left quad strain.

This could be one of those phantom disabled list stints. Caminero was ejected from Tuesday night's game after hitting two Diamondbacks (Jean Segura, Nick Ahmed) in the head. He holds a 5.19 ERA and 2.14 WHIP in 17 1/3 innings this season out of the Pittsburgh 'pen.
May 25 - 2:21 PM

Arquimedes Caminero gave up four runs and five hits in 1 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Orioles.

Caminiero was a nice pickup for the Pirates pen last year, but he's really struggled this spring, giving up nine runs in 4 1/3 innings. Fortunately for him, he's out of options, which will force the Pirates to be patient with him.
Mar 16 - 4:21 PM

Arquimedes Caminero struck out four in two scoreless innings out of the pen Monday against the Rays.

We're not sure what the Marlins were thinking getting rid of Caminero last month when he still had options remaining. He's allowed two runs and posted a 16/1 K/BB ratio in 10 innings this spring, and while that might not get him a roster spot in Pittsburgh, he projects as a setup man in time.

Pirates acquired RHP Arquimedes Caminero from the Marlins for cash considerations.

Caminero was designated for assignment by the Marlins last week after Ichiro Suzuki was brought into the fold. The hard-throwing right-hander appeared in six games with the Marlins last year and posted a 4.86 ERA with a 79/30 K/BB ratio over 63 innings in Triple-A.

Marlins designated RHP Arquimedes Caminero for assignment.

Caminero tossed a few innings for the big club last year but spent the majority of the time at Triple-A, registering a 4.86 ERA in 63 innings of work. He was designated for assignment to make room for Ichiro Suzuki on the 40-man roster.

Marlins optioned RHP Arquimedes Caminero to Triple-A New Orleans.

The 26-year-old has appeared in six games for the Marlins this season, registering a 10.80 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 8/4 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings. He'll continue to function as organizational bullpen depth in the minor leagues.

Marlins recalled RHP Arquimedes Caminero from Triple-A New Orleans.

He'll take the place of Carter Capps (elbow) on the active roster. Caminero allowed seven runs over 4 1/3 innings in his first stint with the big club this season and will hope to do better this time around.

Marlins optioned RHP Arquimedes Caminero to Triple-A New Orleans.

Caminero didn't make a very good impression during his short time with the club, allowing seven runs over 4 1/3 frames. He should get another shot later this summer.

Marlins recalled RHP Arquimedes Caminero from Triple-A New Orleans.

Caminero should have earned a spot in the Opening Day bullpen but lost out because he had options left. He'll provide another relief arm with Brad Hand moving into the rotation.

Marlins optioned RHP Arquimedes Caminero to Triple-A New Orleans.

Caminero was brilliant this spring, putting up a 2.00 ERA and 9/1 K/BB ratio over nine innings of work, but he has an option remaining and sometimes that's how these decisions go toward the end of spring training. We'll surely hear from him again soon.
Tue, Mar 25, 2014 09:14:00 AM

Arquimedes Caminero lowered his spring ERA to 1.13 by pitching a perfect inning against the Astros on Friday.

Remember Caminero's name: he could be the Marlins' next closer. He's allowed just two hits, walked none and struck out eight this spring.
