Kole Calhoun launched his 12th home run of the season on Friday, but it wasn't enough to lead the Angels to victory over the Indians.
Calhoun blasted his solo shot off of Carlos Carrasco in the first inning, giving the Angels an early 1-0 lead, but it would be very short-lived. He also doubled, finishing the night 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and is now hitting .276/.354/.426 with 12 homers and 56 RBI. Aug 12 - 10:28 PM

Kole Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

Calhoun got the Angels on the board early with a solo shot off Cubs starter John Lackey, but he ended up with two of the Angels' three total hits on the night. The homer was just the 11th for Calhoun this year, after he hit 26 a year ago. The 28-year-old is batting .276/.354/.417 with 55 RBI and 68 runs scored overall.
Aug 9 - 10:49 PM

Kole Calhoun went 3-for-4 and scored two runs in the Angels' loss on Saturday.

He was driven in by Mike Trout twice, once on a homer, once on a triple. If you get on base in front of Trout your chances of scoring are good. Calhoun is batting .274/.353/.411 with 10 home runs, 67 runs scored and 54 RBI in 108 games.
Aug 7 - 1:36 AM

Kole Calhoun is not in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.

Calhoun will ride the bench with left-hander Drew Pomeranz throwing for Boston. Shane Robinson will handle right field in his absence. Calhoun hasn't done anything spectacular this year, but he's hit a respectable .279 with 10 HR, 54 RBI and 63 runs scored across 384 at-bats.
Jul 30 - 7:03 PM

Kole Calhoun went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Amazingly, Calhoun did his damage over four different at-bats. The outfielder hit an RBI double in the first inning before collecting an RBI groundout in the fourth, a sacrifice fly RBI in the sixth and another run-scoring groundout in the ninth. They all look the same in the scorebook, as they say, and his four RBI gives him 54 RBI on the year. The 28-year-old is hitting .283/.364/.431 overall.
Jul 27 - 12:07 AM

Kole Calhoun is getting the day off Monday.

Shane Robinson will start in right field and bat ninth versus Tampa Bay left-hander Matt Moore. It's just a routine day of maintenance for Calhoun, who has five hits and four RBI over his last four games.
Jul 4 - 10:55 AM

Kole Calhoun went 3-for-5 with a solo home run as the Angels lost to the Athletics on Saturday.

The home run was his 10th of the season. He will have to pick up the pace a bit if he hopes to match the 26 home runs he hit last year. His home run power may be down a little but most of his other stats are better this year than last. Calhoun's .292 batting average with 44 runs and 40 RBI make him an underrated fantasy commodity.
Jun 26 - 2:28 AM

Kole Calhoun belted a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.

Calhoun took Michael Pineda deep in the fifth inning to pull the Halos to within 5-3 at the time, but that's as close as they would get. It was Calhoun's seventh longball on the season, and he's now sporting a .300/.377/.465 batting line with 32 RBI.
Jun 7 - 9:53 PM

Kole Calhoun homered and knocked in two runs Friday against the Pirates.

Calhoun also drew a pair of walks. The 28-year-old socked a career-high 26 home runs last season, but he was headed in the wrong way with his plate discipline. He has made major improvements so far this year. He’s sporting a career-low strikeout rate and a career-high walk rate while batting .298/.382/.439 over 53 games.
Jun 3 - 11:00 PM

Kole Calhoun is out of the Angels' starting lineup on Monday night against the Rangers.

It's the first day off this season for Calhoun, who's slashing .290/.368/.407 with three home runs and 21 RBI in 44 games. Rafael Ortega will start in right field and Shane Robinson is in left versus Derek Holland.
May 23 - 3:51 PM

Kole Calhoun went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk against the Twins on Friday.

His seventh-inning blast against Tommy Milone put the Angels in front, but the bullpen wasn’t able to hold it. Calhoun has been the Angels’ best hitter so far, batting .412/.474/.559 through 10 games. Of course, with Mike Trout on his team, he isn’t likely to keep that title for very long.
Apr 16 - 12:34 AM

Kole Calhoun went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the Angels' 9-8 win over the Padres on Saturday.

It was Calhoun's first homer of the spring. The Angels apparently plan to bat Calhoun fifth versus righties and second against lefties. That's a change from last month, when Calhoun figured to be in front of Mike Trout on a full-time basis. However, Daniel Nava's big spring changed that. Besides, Calhoun had a .308 OBP last year, so it's not as though he deserves to hit second.
Mar 27 - 1:13 AM

Kole Calhoun went 3-for-3 with two runs scored against the Athletics on Thursday.

All three hits were singles. Calhoun established new career-highs with 26 home runs and 83 RBI last season, but he saw a big bump in strikeouts and drew fewer walks. We wouldn’t bank on similar power numbers in 2016, but getting on base more often and scoring more runs would be a fair tradeoff. He figures to hit second in front of Mike Trout in 2016.
Mar 3 - 7:31 PM

Angels and OF Kole Calhoun avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.4 million contract.

It's about $300,000 above the midpoint of figures that were exchanged earlier this month. Calhoun was arbitration-eligible for the first time this offseason as a Super 2 qualifier. He has three more years of arbitration remaining.
Jan 26 - 11:23 PM

Kole Calhoun requested $3.9 million and was offered $2.35 million by the Angels when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday. projected Calhoun to make $3.6 million. The 28-year-old qualified as a Super 2 player, so this will be his first of four arbitration years.
