Kole Calhoun homered and finished 3-for-3 in Sunday's win over the Astros.
Calhoun's second consecutive three-hit day raised his average over .300 for the first time this season, as he's now batting .301 with an .882 OPS. His homer was his ninth home run of the year, and he also scored on an Albert Pujols single in the third inning. He's scored 42 runs in 52 games this season and should approach 100 atop the Angels lineup. Jul 6 - 9:26 PM

Kole Calhoun finished 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored, and the Angels completed the doubleheader sweep with a 7-5 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.

Calhoun has been on a tear in recent days, as Tuesday's nightcap was his fourth multi-hit game in his last six contests. The homer, his eighth of the year, was also his third in the last nine games. The dual threat has been rather quiet on the basepaths this season, perhaps due to the ankle injury that forced him to miss over a month of games, but he's batting a helpful .284/.345/.494 at the top of a potent Angels lineup and should continue to fill the stat sheet going forward.
Jul 2 - 12:47 AM

Kole Calhoun blasted his sixth home run of the season in Sunday's victory over the Rangers.

Calhoun finished the night 1-for-3 and also drew a walk, scored twice and drove home a pair of runs. He continues to see regular playing time atop the Angels lineup against most right-handed pitching, making him a nice option as a fourth or fifth outfielder in mixed leagues.
Jun 22 - 11:13 PM

Kole Calhoun went 4-for-5 with an RBI single, a solo home run, and three runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

Calhoun did a great job setting the table ahead of the middle of the Angels' lineup. His home run came with the game already in the bag, as his ninth inning solo blast off of Josh Outman extended the Angels' lead to 8-2 at the time. Calhoun has done well for the Halos at the plate when called upon, slashing .276/.336/.470 with five home runs and 12 RBI in 147 plate appearances.
Jun 17 - 10:54 PM

Kole Calhoun is not in the Angels starting lineup for Sunday night's contest against the Braves.

With opposing southpaw Mike Minor on the hill, Calhoun will get a day of rest while Collin Cowgill patrols center field and hits leadoff for the Angels.
Jun 15 - 4:28 PM

Kole Calhoun had a nice night at the plate in Friday's loss to the Braves, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Calhoun one again was hitting out of the leadoff spot in manager Mike Scioscia's lineup. With the two-hit effort, he's now hitting .256/.320/.453 with four homers and nine RBI in 117 at-bats on the year.
Jun 13 - 10:47 PM

Kole Calhoun had a leadoff homer and a two-run double Friday against the White Sox.

Calhoun hit at the bottom of the order in his return from the disabled list, but he's getting another look in the leadoff spot now and the nice game tonight could help keep him there. He's certainly a more interesting option in mixed leagues while hitting ahead of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols.
Jun 7 - 1:42 AM

Angels activated outfielder Kole Calhoun from the 15-day disabled list.

Calhoun is starting in right field and batting sixth tonight. He was leading off before injuring his ankle, and he'd be a better option in shallow mixed leagues if he can regain that spot. If he hits in the bottom half of the lineup, he'll score far fewer runs and won't make up for it with a bunch of RBI chances, not with Raul Ibanez likely hitting ahead of him.
May 21 - 6:46 PM

Kole Calhoun (ankle) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Wednesday.

It's possible the Angels could wait until Friday after the off day Thursday, but Calhoun seems to be ready after picking up seven hits -- including a homer -- in his first 12 rehab at-bats. The young outfielder has been sidelined since mid-April with a badly sprained right ankle.
May 19 - 9:05 PM

Kole Calhoun (ankle) is on pace to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Calhoun will begin a short rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday and will be ready to roll on Tuesday against the Astros if all goes well. The young outfielder has been sidelined since mid-April with a badly sprained right ankle.
May 15 - 7:17 PM

Kole Calhoun (ankle) has started running the bases.

He was cleared to do so after doing some running in the outfield with no issues. Calhoun should be ready for a rehab assignment before long. The young outfielder is expected to be activated from the disabled list later this month.
May 12 - 9:58 PM

Kole Calhoun (ankle) ran on the field Wednesday at "pretty close to full intensity," according to's Alden Gonzalez.

Calhoun will join Josh Hamilton in Arizona over the weekend, with an eye on starting a rehab assignment next week. It's a promising development for the outfielder, who sustained the sprained ankle on April 16. Barring a setback, he should be back later this month.
May 7 - 9:22 PM

Kole Calhoun (ankle) took batting practice Monday.

Calhoun could be cleared to do some jogging soon. The outfielder was given a 4-6 week timetable when he went down with a serious ankle injury last month. The Angels are hoping to get him back sometime this month.
May 5 - 10:59 PM

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Kole Calhoun will miss 4-6 weeks with a bad ligament sprain in his ankle.

It's a tough blow to the Angels and fantasy owners, as Calhoun was really turning it on before the injury. Calhoun had seven hits in his last 15 at-bats prior to rolling his ankle late in Wednesday's game. The Angels will rely on Collin Cowgill and Brennan Boesch in right field for the time being, but the team may take a look at external options now that Calhoun will be out for a significant period.
Apr 16 - 7:36 PM

Angels placed OF Kole Calhoun on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle.

Calhoun rolled the ankle in the 11th inning of Tuesday's game, and it was immediately clear he was headed for a DL stint. Calhoun was on crutches in the clubhouse after the game, saying the ankle "hurt real bad." Hopefully it's just a 15-day thing and won't require a longer stay. Brennan Boesch was recalled to take his roster spot.
