Matt den Dekker homered for the second straight day Monday as part of a 3-for-4 effort in a win over the Reds.

He doubled in a run in the fourth to open the scoring and then added an opposite-field solo shot in the sixth. Not known for his bat, den Dekker now has seven hits -- including five that went for extra bases -- over his last eight at-bats in the last two days. It's safe to say he'll be getting another start Tuesday.

Matt den Dekker had two singles, a double, and a home run in four at-bats, but the Nationals fell to the Phillies on Sunday.

den Dekker hit the second of two solo home runs in the second inning, putting the Nationals up 2-0 against Aaron Harang. He singled and scored in the seventh, then doubled and scored in the ninth inning. den Dekker has stepped to the plate only 93 times this season, so Sunday's effort did wonders for his batting line. He's now batting .253/.319/.458 with four home runs, 10 RBI, and 10 runs scored.

Matt den Dekker, as a mid-game replacement, went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Marlins.

Bryce Harper left the game in the first inning and den Dekker was his replacement. He made it a 4-0 game in the sixth inning when he drove a Jose Urena offering over the fence in right field. den Dekker has taken only 74 plate appearances this season, hitting .209/.264/.403 with three home runs and seven RBI.

It was his first home run as a member of the Nationals. Den Dekker, who was acquired from the Mets in the spring, was making the start in right field as Bryce Harper missed his second straight game with cramping in his right leg.
