Mets manager Terry Collins said Saturday that he plans to platoon Matt den Dekker and Eric Campbell in left field following Chris Young's release.
Den Dekker will form the long side of the platoon and is the one worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues even though he's batting just .184/.250/.243 across his first 112 plate appearances in the majors. The 26-year-old has hit .331/.403/.533 with eight homers, 46 RBI and nine stolen bases at Triple-A this season. "One of the things we asked him to do is cut back on the strikeouts. He’s done that due to fact he’s putting the ball in play better, he’s hitting," Collins said. "We know he has power, he has hit for power in the past in the minor leagues. We know the more contact he makes, the more chance he’s got to be successful." Aug 10 - 9:39 AM
