Rougned Odor was hitless in three at-bats with a strikeout Saturday in Detroit.
Odor's averaged slipped back under the Mendoza line, as he is slashing just .199/.255/.351. The second baseman hasn't exactly torn it up over his career, posting a .258 average, but he has really taken a step back at the plate this season with a WAR at just 0.2. That's his lowest mark since a 0.1 set in his rookie season of 2014. May 20 - 11:11 PM

Rougned Odor went 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base, and a run scored Friday against the Athletics.

Yes, two walks. This was the third two-walk game of his career and his first since way back on September 1, 2014. The 23-year-old has been a major disappointment so far this season, batting just .207/.258/.379 with six homers and 17 RBI through 37 games.
May 12 - 11:51 PM

Rougned Odor went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Padres.

Odor was an early hero in Thursday's game when his run-scoring single in the ninth inning tied the game at 2-2. He came around to score one batter later when Mike Napoli ended it with a three-run, walk-off blast. The two-hit game raised Odor's average to above the Mendoza Line, and that fact says it all when talking about the 23-year-old's early struggles. He's a much better hitter than he's shown, and perhaps a couple of multi-hit games in recent days is a sign of better things to come.
May 11 - 11:35 PM

Rougned Odor was hitless in four at-bats with a strikeout in Saturday's loss in Seattle.

Odor has struck out at least once in nine straight outings, whiffing 11 times during the span. After firing out of the chute with a .389 batting average over the first five games Odor has been slumping hard. While he has shown signs of snapping out of his funk with three long balls over the past eight starts, he needs to show better discipline at the plate to be trusted outside of deeper fantasy leagues right now.
May 7 - 5:43 AM

Rougned Odor hit a two-run homer in the top of the 13th to push the Rangers past the Mariners 3-1 on Friday.

It was Odor's lone hit of the night, but he made it count in a big way. He has two homers, a double and two walks in three games since being moved into the second spot in the Rangers' order.
May 6 - 3:35 AM

Rougned Odor hit his fifth homer and walked Thursday against the Astros.

Hitting Odor second doesn't seem like the best idea, but he's going 3-for-7 with two walks the last two days in that spot. He'll probably stay there for a spell.
May 4 - 6:13 PM

Rougned Odor went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk as the Rangers' No. 2 hitter Wednesday against the Astros.

Unfortunately, he was caught stealing for the third try in four times this year. Odor was moved up to the second spot in the order tonight despite entering the game with a .225 OBP this season. He did well, but since the Rangers still lost 10-1 with their remixed lineup, who knows what Jeff Banister will do tomorrow?
May 4 - 12:10 AM

Rougned Odor went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in a big win over the Twins on Wednesday.

He even added a rare walk. He got caught stealing in the third inning. The 23-year-old has struggled out of the gate again this year just like he did last year. Even after tonight's game he is batting just .200/.253/.365 with three homers and 11 RBI. This might be a good time to target Odor in trade talks. He had a .271 batting average with 33 homers, 88 RBI and 14 steals a year ago and is still younger than many top prospects.
Apr 27 - 1:37 AM

Rougned Odor went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Friday against the Royals.

Odor started the season with a bang, slugging three homers over his first four games, but he has been very quiet ever since. The 23-year-old hasn’t had a multi-hit game since April 7 and is batting just .194/.239/388 overall. Patience isn’t his thing, but his strikeout rate is lower this year than it was last year. Look for him to turn things on here soon.
Apr 22 - 12:47 AM

Rougned Odor went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Friday’s win over the Athletics.

Odor now has three homers through four games after hitting three homers for all of April last year. The 23-year-old turned things on in a big way from there in order to finish with 33 homers, but perhaps he has another level of performance in him still.
Apr 8 - 12:41 AM

Rougned Odor supplied most of the Texas offense on Monday, hitting two homers off the Indians' Corey Kluber.

Odor had a solo shot in the second and a three-run homer in the third. Some argued against Odor coming close to his 2016 numbers this year, maybe because of his poor plate discipline or because an abnormally high percentage of his homers last year barely cleared the fences. Odor, though, is just 23 and still has plenty of room to improve. We expect him to be fantasy baseball's second- or third-best second baseman.
Apr 3 - 10:48 PM

Rangers signed 2B Rougned Odor to a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension with a $13.5 million club option for 2023.

The deal was agreed to on Saturday and then finalized Thursday as the Rangers packed up camp in Surprise, Arizona. It will cover Odor's first three years of arbitration eligibility (2018-2020) and at least two years of free agency, at a fairly reasonable cost. The 23-year-old second baseman tallied 33 home runs, 88 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and 89 runs scored in 150 games last season.
Mar 30 - 11:38 AM

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers and Rougned Odor are in agreement on a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News had reported earlier that the two sides were close to a deal. Heyman also notes that the deal includes an option for a seventh season which could push the total of deal even higher. The 23-year-old was set to be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and a free agent in 2021.
Mar 25 - 11:16 AM

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers are nearing a six-year contract extension with Rougned Odor that's expected to be around $50 million.

Odor has been reportedly seeking a six-year pact in the neighborhood of $52.5 million, which is the figure Jason Kipnis landed in a similar spot after the 2014 season. Kevin Kiermaier was in a similar situation this offseason and secured a six-year, $53.5 million extension from the Rays that Grant notes could serve as a blueprint for the Odor deal. The 23-year-old hit .271/.296/.502 with 33 homers, 88 RBI and 14 stolen bases in a breakthrough 2016 season.
Mar 25 - 10:50 AM

Rougned Odor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Venezuela's World Baseball Classic loss to the United States on Wednesday.

Odor absolutely unloaded for a solo home run off David Robertson with two outs in the seventh inning. That shot gave Venezuela a 2-0 advantage, but a three-run eighth inning by the US spelled their doom in the end. The 23-year-old second baseman socked 33 dingers a year ago while driving in 88 runs over the course of 150 games played.
