Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers and Rougned Odor are in agreement on a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News had reported earlier that the two sides were close to a deal. Heyman also notes that the deal includes an option for a seventh season which could push the total of deal even higher. The 23-year-old was set to be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and a free agent in 2021. Mar 25 - 11:16 AM

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers are nearing a six-year contract extension with Rougned Odor that's expected to be around $50 million.

Odor has been reportedly seeking a six-year pact in the neighborhood of $52.5 million, which is the figure Jason Kipnis landed in a similar spot after the 2014 season. Kevin Kiermaier was in a similar situation this offseason and secured a six-year, $53.5 million extension from the Rays that Grant notes could serve as a blueprint for the Odor deal. The 23-year-old hit .271/.296/.502 with 33 homers, 88 RBI and 14 stolen bases in a breakthrough 2016 season.

Rougned Odor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Venezuela's World Baseball Classic loss to the United States on Wednesday.

Odor absolutely unloaded for a solo home run off David Robertson with two outs in the seventh inning. That shot gave Venezuela a 2-0 advantage, but a three-run eighth inning by the US spelled their doom in the end. The 23-year-old second baseman socked 33 dingers a year ago while driving in 88 runs over the course of 150 games played.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that there is a "decent-sized gap" in the figures proposed by the Rangers and Rougned Odor's agents regarding a contract extension.

Heyman says that Odor's reps presented an offer to the Rangers within the past few days and the team is expected to submit a revised offer soon. He notes that the Rangers' initial offer was for less than Jason Kipnis' $52.5 million deal, while Odor's camp has asked for more than $52.5 million. Heyman notes that the two sides have been talking about a long-term deal for "about a year now, and it seems like it could go either way." Odor isn't even arbitration-eligible until next winter, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if the two sides aren't able to agree to an extension at this point.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and Rougned Odor's agents, Danny Horwits and Rick Thurman, met again Monday to discuss a contract extension.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports was first to report last week that the two sides began talking about a long-term deal for the second baseman. Heyman added at the time that Texas is believed to have offered a deal similar to the six-year, $52.5 million one that Jason Kipnis received. It's unclear at this point how much momentum there is for something to get done, but it appears both sides are motivated.
Feb 27 - 7:12 PM

According to Jon Heyman, the Rangers are discussing a long-term extension with second baseman Rougned Odor.

Heyman says the Texas front office is "believed to have offered something in the range of the $52.5-million, six-year deal Jason Kipnis did as a pre-arb player with the Indians." Odor and Kipnis have the same agent, so this isn't some random comp. It sounds like the goal is to get something hammered out before the end of spring training. Odor, 23, tallied 33 home runs, 88 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and 89 runs scored in 150 games last season for the Rangers. He is currently under control through 2020.

Rougned Odor blasted a two-run homer in Game 3 of the ALDS on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Blue Jays and stave off elimination.

Odor took Aaron Sanchez deep with a man aboard in the fourth inning, pulling the Rangers to within a run at 5-4. He finished the night 1-for-2 plus a walk and scored a pair of runs. He also made an errant throw on a potential double play ball in the 10th inning that wound up ending the Rangers' season.

Rougned Odor is not in the Rangers' lineup Sunday.

Odor took a bad hop off his shin Saturday, but he's fine. Jurickson Profar will cover second base. Mitch Moreland is also sitting out, as Ryan Rua is at first base.

Rougned Odor smacked his 33rd home run of the season on Friday as the Rangers bested the Rays 3-1 in Texas.

His solo shot off of Rays' starter Matt Andriese in the sixth inning increased the Rangers' advantage to 3-1. Odor also doubled, finishing the night 2-for-4. He has been one of the biggest surprises of the season, slashing .272/.297/.504 with 33 long balls and 88 RBI.

Rougned Odor went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in a win over the Brewers on Wednesday.

His homer was the Rangers' second two-run dinger of the first inning. Odor has done amazing things for a 22-year-old this season. He has a .270 batting average with 32 home runs, 87 RBI and 88 runs scored in 148 games. He has chipped in 14 stolen bases as well.

Rougned Odor went 3-for-4 and homered off James Hoyt in the top of the 12th to lead the Rangers to a 4-3 win over the Astros on Monday.

The homer was Odor's 31st. He also collected his 30th double in the game. More than that, he picked up his 17th walk of the year. So, it was a banner game all around for the 22-year-old. His 56th career homer gave him one more than either Adrian Beltre or Cal Ripken Jr. had through age 22.

Rougned Odor (hamstrings) is back in the Rangers' lineup Sunday.

Odor sat out Saturday with some tightness in both hamstrings, but he's expected to be fine. Carlos Beltran, Elvis Andrus and Jonathan Lucroy are getting days off for the Rangers, as the club has Adrian Beltre in the designated hitter spot, Hanser Alberto at third base, Jurickson Profar at shortstop and Robinson Chirinos at catcher.

Rougned Odor launched his 30th homer Monday in a losing cause against the Mariners.

Odor is just the sixth player 22 or younger to hit 30 homers since 2000, joining Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Giancarlo Stanton, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. That's some very good company. He's blown away the record for homers by a 22-year-old second baseman. In fact, he's the first second baseman ever under 25 to hit 30 homers. Odor still has some things to work on -- he never walks and he can be pretty shaky defensively -- but the sky is the limit.

Rougned Odor went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Friday’s 10-8 win over the Astros.

His two-run tater was part of a seven-run fourth inning. Odor has now gone deep in each of his last three games (he has four homers over that time) and leads the Rangers with 28 home runs. The 22-year-old has embraced his aggressiveness this season (as evidenced by his 14 walks and a .300 on-base percentage), but it’s working for him.

Rougned Odor hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday to give the Rangers an 8-7 win over the Mariners.

Odor finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored, but it was his last hit that loomed the largest. After a leadoff single by Adrian Beltre, Odor drove a low offering from Edwin Diaz to straightaway center to give the Rangers the come-from-behind victory. Odor has 25 homers and 67 RBI this year, and he's hitting .272/.294/.491 overall.
