Rougned Odor finished 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in a win over the Royals on Friday.
It was the second multi-homer game of his career. The first one was a legitimate blast, but the second just barely eked over the right field fence. But it all counts the same in the box score. He’s now up to 21 homers on the year to go along with 54 RBI, 10 steals, and a .282/.301/.508 batting line. Jul 30 - 12:34 AM

Rougned Odor hit his 19th home run of the season in Thursday's win over the Royals.

Odor connected with a Yordano Ventura pitch in the second inning for one of three solo home runs hit by Rangers batters on the evening. He's already surpassed his single-season high for homers, besting the 16 he hit last year with two months still left to play. With 52 RBI, 62 runs scored and 10 steals to go with a .277/.297/.487 line, the 22-year-old could set a number of personal bests before the year is out.

Rougned Odor went 2-for-4 and hit his 17th homer Monday in a losing cause against the Angels.

The decision to move Nomar Mazara down in the lineup could pay dividends for Odor, who is getting a look in the third spot. His 17 homers are the fourth highest total ever for a second baseman 22 or younger. He's also fifth on that list, having hit 16 as a 21-year-old last year. The record is 22, hit by Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr as a 22-year-old in 1940.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Rougned Odor rejected an extension from the Rangers that was worth about $35 million over six years with two options years.

That is similar to the contract Gregory Polanco signed with the Pirates this past April. It just so happens Polanco and Odor have the same agent -- Rick Thurman -- but Heyman states in his column Thursday that Polanco "insisted" on signing that very team-friendly contract despite Thurman's hesitance. The strategy is not going to work on Odor. Heyman notes that the Rangers second baseman is "a feisty type who wants to fight hard for the best deal" and made a counteroffer that was apparently then rejected by the Rangers. Odor is under control through 2020. There's no major hurry here on either side.
Jul 14 - 9:57 AM

Rougned Odor went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple as the Rangers bested the Twins 6-5 in Arlington on Friday evening.

Odor got the Rangers offense started with an RBI triple in the first inning then came around to score on a single off the bat of Prince Fielder. He has had a very strong first half, slashing .276/.295/.497 with 16 home runs, 44 RBI and seven stolen bases.
Jul 8 - 11:59 PM

Extension talks between the Rangers and Rougned Odor remain "ongoing," according to SB Nation's Chris Cotillo.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports mentioned Thursday that the sides have "exchanged numbers," though no deal is imminent. Odor is already under team control through 2020 so there's no rush to have a deal in place. Ironically, contract talks began last month during Odor's seven-game suspension for punching Jose Bautista in the face. The 22-year-old has hit .267 this year with 16 HR, 43 RBI and seven steals.

Rougned Odor went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI on Monday afternoon against the Red Sox.

Odor did all he could in the 12-5 loss, hitting a two-run single in the first inning and a solo dinger in the eighth. He also had a single in the third. The 22-year-old second baseman is up to 16 home runs and 42 RBI in 76 games for the season.
Jul 4 - 5:27 PM

Rougned Odor homered to account for the only run of the game in the Rangers defeat of the Cardinals on Friday.

Odor is hitting .288 with six homers in 14 games this month. Unfortunately, he's stopped stealing bases. He went 4-for-4 in his first 19 games of the year, but he's tried just three since, succeeding twice. He's yet to attempt one in June.
Jun 17 - 11:38 PM

Rougned Odor homered twice Wednesday to lead the Rangers to a 7-5 win over the A's.

Odor's two-run homer in the sixth tied the game, and he made it 7-5 with a solo shot in the eighth off Sean Doolittle. Odor's .266 average and .771 OPS aren't spectacular on the surface, but they are pretty impressive for a 22-year-old. His 12 homers lead all Rangers by two.
Jun 16 - 1:31 AM

Rougned Odor played the hero by going 3-for-5 with a game-winning home run in the top of the 11th inning to beat the Mariners 2-1 on Saturday.

All three runs in this game were scored on solo home runs. Adam Lind put the Mariners ahead in the fifth inning, Prince Fielder tied it with two outs in the ninth, then Odor gave the Rangers the edge in the 11th. Odor's home run was his 10th of the season to go along with his 36 runs, 30 RBI, six steals and .268 AVG.
Jun 12 - 1:59 AM

Rougned Odor hit a solo home run and smacked a walk-off RBI double with two outs in the ninth inning of Monday's win over the Astros.

He also added a sac fly, giving him a three-RBI night. Odor hasn't missed a beat since returning from suspension, picking up five hits in 11 at-bats while driving in and scoring three runs. He's currently on pace for 23 home runs, 17 stolen bases, 80 RBI and 97 runs scored.
Jun 7 - 12:12 AM

Rougned Odor has finished serving his suspension and has returned to the Rangers starting lineup on Saturday.

Odor is batting fifth and starting at second base for the Rangers, while Jurickson Profar remains with the club as the designated hitter and continues to bat out of the leadoff slot. Prior to his suspension, Odor was hitting was hitting .262/.287/.444 with seven homers, 25 RBI and six stolen bases.
Jun 4 - 5:11 PM

According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, the Rangers have "rekindled" extension talks with Rougned Odor.

Odor's agent Rick Thurman sat down with GM Jon Daniels earlier this week. It's unclear how much progress was made but it opened up a dialogue after extension talks had been dormant for months. The Rangers are committed to making Odor their franchise second baseman and the interest appears to be mutual. Fortunately Odor is under team control through 2020, so there's plenty of time to work out a deal.
Jun 2 - 11:09 PM

Rougned Odor's suspension has been reduced from eight games to seven.

His appeal was heard by the league on Tuesday. Odor will begin serving his ban on Friday. Jurickson Profar is expected to take his place on the active roster. This is probably as good a result as Odor could have hoped for. Some thought Odor actually got off easy after slugging Jose Bautista in a game last week. He's eligible to return June 4 against Seattle.
May 26 - 5:24 PM

Rougned Odor's eight-game suspension appeal decision probably won't come until Thursday or Friday.

Odor had the appeal hearing Tuesday, but Jon Morosi of FOX Sports notes that there is "a lot of information being considered" by the people tasked with rendering a ruling. The second baseman was issued the eight-game punishment by Major League Baseball on May 17 for his role in a massive May 15 brawl with the Blue Jays. He could be clearly seen connecting on a punch to Jose Bautista's face. Odor will remain active until the appeal decision is announced.
