Josh Rutledge had a big night as the Rockies took the second game of Sunday's doubleheader from the Reds, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and a stolen base.
He's being counted on to carry a much bigger load in the Rockies offense with Troy Tulowitzki sidelined for the remainder of the season, and was hitting out of the leadoff spot in the order for Sunday's contest. He should be owned and started in all mixed leagues at this point. Aug 18 - 1:32 AM

Date:

Josh Rutledge came off the bench Thursday against the Cubs and popped out in his only at-bat.

Rutledge is still troubled by an illness, but he could be back in Friday's starting lineup.
Jul 31 - 6:55 PM

Josh Rutledge (illness) will be available in an emergency on Wednesday night versus the Cubs.

Rutledge is still getting over the upper respiratory infection that kept him out of the lineup on Monday and Tuesday. He'll be on the bench again Wednesday but could enter late as a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement.
Jul 30 - 5:46 PM

Josh Rutledge is out of the Rockies' starting lineup again on Tuesday against the Cubs.

Rutledge is battling an upper respiratory infection and could need a few more days off. The infielder has performed well as Troy Tulowitzki's (hip) fill-in at shortstop but obviously needs to be benched for now in fantasy leagues that allow for daily lineup changes.
Jul 29 - 5:01 PM

Josh Rutledge was scratched from Monday's lineup due to illness.

He should be ready to go in a day or two. Rutledge has hit .375/.375/.656 with one homer and nine RBI over seven games since taking over shortstop for the injured Troy Tulowitzki (hip).
Jul 28 - 10:43 PM

Josh Rutledge went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored in an 8-1 win over the Pirates on Friday.

Rutledge got the Rockies on the board with an RBI double in the third inning and later had a bases-clearing double in a seven-run seventh. The 25-year-old has hit .308 with three home runs and 16 RBI over 53 games this season and should get regular playing time over the next two weeks with Troy Tulowitzki on the disabled list. He should be a useful fantasy shortstop in the meantime.
Jul 26 - 1:01 AM

Josh Rutledge went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Brewers.

The ninth inning bomb was just Rutledge's second home run of the season and his ninth RBI. It tied the game up at 2-2 briefly. Rutledge's would-be heroism was for naught, though, as the Colorado bullpen collapsed in the bottom of the ninth. In 89 ABs, the 25-year old is hitting .308 and doing a nice job in limited ABs.
Jun 28 - 12:26 AM

Making his first appearance in 10 days, Josh Rutledge went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Rockies' second baseman on Saturday.

Rutledge was called up after Nolan Arenado got hurt last month, but the Rockies have refused to play him at third base and haven't found much for him to do at second or shortstop. It's disappointing, since he has played well in his limited action, hitting .286 with a homer in 35 at-bats.
Jun 7 - 9:09 PM

Rockies recalled INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He'll provide extra depth in the Rockies infield with Nolan Arenado on the disabled list. In his earlier stints with the Rockies this season, he hit .318/.375/.500 with a homer and four RBI in 22 at-bats. He's worth a look in mixed leagues if he looks to receive everyday at-bats while Arenado is sidelined.
May 24 - 12:13 PM

Rockies activated INF Josh Rutledge from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Rutledge has been sidelined since late April with a viral infection. He'll serve as middle infield depth at Triple-A now that he's back to full health.
May 13 - 11:54 AM

Rockies placed INF Josh Rutledge on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 28, with a viral infection.

He seems likely to be ready when his 15 days are up. The Rockies have summoned Ryan Wheeler from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take Rutledge's spot on the roster.
May 2 - 4:39 PM

Josh Rutledge hit a three-run homer in the Rockies' 6-1 win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

The home run was Rutledge's first of the season. The second baseman got off to a terrible start last year before being demoted. This season, Rutledge is batting .318/.375/.500 in 22 at-bats since being recalled on April 9. His hot bat may earn him more playing time going forward.
Apr 27 - 9:47 PM

Rockies recalled INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He'll provide some middle infield depth with Troy Tulowitzki (quad) banged up. Rutledge had seven hits in his first 18 at-bats for Colorado Springs before his call-up.
Apr 9 - 1:30 PM

Rockies optioned INF Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

D.J. LeMahieu won the Rockies' starting second base job. Rutledge is now merely organizational depth.
Mar 27 - 1:32 PM

Josh Rutledge went 1-for-3 and scored a run as the Rockies and White Sox played to a 5-5 draw in Cactus League action on Sunday.

Rutledge, who is still battling to be the team's starting second baseman, is hitting an impressive .303/.343/.515 on the spring season. Unfortunately for him, his main competition, D.J. LeMahieu, is slashing an equally impressive .316/.381/.395. From a fantasy perspective, Rutledge winning out would be much more appealing.
