Peterson broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning when he belted an Adam Morgan offering to right field in the fifth inning. His effort helped the Braves avoid a four-game series sweep in Philadelphia. The second baseman isn't normally one for power, as he's batting .245/.322/.343 with 44 RBI and only four home runs.

The homer was Peterson's only hit in five at-bats on the afternoon, leaving his line at .266/.344/.375.

With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, Peterson swatted a three-run double to pull the Braves within two runs. The multi-hit game was just his second since June 14 as his overall line has dropped to .267/.346/.367 following a fast start. Despite his down stretch, Peterson continues to hit near the top of the lineup for the Braves.

The Braves went into the bottom of the eighth trailing 1-0 against Jacob deGrom, but put two runners on before Mets manager Terry Collins brought in left-hander Sean Gilmartin. However, Peterson followed with a fly ball over the head of Juan Lagares in center field which gave the Braves the lead. The 25-year-old finished the night 2-for-3 with a walk and owns a solid .284/.258/.387 batting line on the year.

Peterson drove in a run with an infield single in the seventh inning. The RBI was his 23rd of the season. The second baseman's hitting .275/.349/.347 with one homer and the 23 RBI during the 2015 campaign. He's been dealing with a sore left thumb over the last few weeks and while the injury kept him out of a pair of games over the weekend, it looks like he'll forge on ahead for the time being.

Peterson smacked a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning but was caught trying to steal second base. His next hit of the game -- five at-bats later -- was a single to left-center field that scored Alberto Callaspo from third base in the bottom of the 11th inning. Peterson, 25, is batting .264/.336/.318 with four steals and 14 runs in 39 games this season.
