Pirates optioned RHP Kyle Crick to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Acquired from the Giants in the Andrew McCutchen deal, Crick made the full-time move to the bullpen last season and posted a 3.06 ERA and 28/17 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings during his time with the big club. The 25-year-old figures to contribute with the Pirates before long.

Pirates acquired RHP Kyle Crick, OF Bryan Reynolds and $500,000 in international bonus pool space from the Giants for OF Andrew McCutchen and cash.

Crick made a full-time move to relief in 2017 and held a 3.06 ERA and 28/17 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings for the Giants last season. He's always had major control issues but is just 25 and throws very hard. Crick should make the Pirates' roster as a middle reliever.

Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that Kyle Crick is part of the package the Giants are sending to the Pirates in the Andrew McCutchen trade.

Crick is a former compensation round pick who has major command issues and made a move to the bullpen full-time last season, but he's just 25 and can reach the upper-90s with his fastball. Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan is hearing that outfield prospect Bryan Reynolds could be the other piece the Pirates receive.

Giants recalled RHP Kyle Crick from Triple-A Sacramento.

Crick has posted a 2.76 ERA and 39/13 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings at Sacramento in his first full season as a reliever. He's got a big arm but is always going to have control problems. Crick will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Giants optioned RHP Kyle Crick to Triple-A Sacramento.

Crick impressed in spring training, but he could stand to work on his control more as he transitions to the bullpen. The hard-thrower could help the Giants as a reliever this season.

The Giants plan to use pitching prospect Kyle Crick as a reliever moving forward.

Crick was a top-100 prospect a couple years ago as a starter, but he's just never been able to throw enough strikes. The 24-year-old has a big arm and boasts a 10.0 K/9 rate in the minors. He could contribute out of the Giants' bullpen this season if he can find the strike zone more often in shorter stints.

Giants RHP prospect Kyle Crick spanned six shutout innings Wednesday in a win for Double-A Richmond.

He allowed just one hit though he did surrender five walks. The 23-year-old has seen mixed results this year. He's only 2-7 with a 5.83 ERA and his K/BB is an appalling 1.11 (42 Ks, 38 BB). Wednesday's victory snapped a 12-start winless streak for Crick. The six-inning effort matched his second-longest outing of the season.

Giants purchased the contract of RHP Kyle Crick from Double-A Richmond.

One of the top prospects in the Giants organization, the 22-year-old is now protected from the Rule 5 draft. He had a disappointing 2015 season, registering a 3.29 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 73/66 K/BB ratio in 63 innings of work.

Giants reassigned RHPs Kyle Crick, Cory Gearrin, Chris Stratton, LHP Adalberto Mejia, Ty Blach, C Ty Ross and Aramis Garcia, OF Mac Williamson, and INFs Kelby Tomlinson, Carlos Triunfel, and Christian Arroyo to minor league camp.

All expected cuts here. Baseball America ranked Crick, Mejia, Blach, and Arroyo all among the team's top 10 prospects this winter.

Giants prospect right-hander Kyle Crick struck out 10 in five innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and two runs for Double-A Richmond on Monday.

Crick has 32 strikeouts and 14 walks in his last 19 2/3 innings, holding opposing batters to a .147/.293/.250 line. He has the potential to be a solid No. 2 pitcher, but his poor command has led to too many walks and high pitch counts, which have prevented him from pitching deep into games. Over those same four starts, he has thrown 60 percent of his pitches for strikes. Crick should be in the major leagues by mid-2015, and it will be interesting to see if he will be able to flourish with below-average command, or if he will be moved into the bullpen to allow him to go all out in short bursts.

Giants right-handed pitching prospect Kyle Crick struck out 10 in five shutout innings, allowing one double and five walks for Double-A Richmond on Wednesday.

Crick possesses the potential to be a frontline starter, but his sub-par command often leads to walks and high pitch counts. He has a 3.52 ERA and a 10.1 K/9, but his 6.4 BB/9 has led to a 1.565 WHIP. He will need to improve his command, or his future may be as a strong-armed reliever in the back of a bullpen.

Giants re-assigned RHPs Kyle Crick, Clayton Blackburn, Chris Heston, Jose Casilla, Sandy Rosario and Rafael Dolis, Cs Jeff Arnold and Ben Turner, OFs Mac Williamson and Javier Herrera, LHP Ty Blach and INF Joe Panik to minor league camp.

There are no surprises on this list. Crick is the biggest name of the bunch as the club's top prospect, but he's yet to pitch past A-ball. The 21-year-old could begin the season at Double-A.

Giants prospect Kyle Crick was outstanding in his final start of the Arizona Fall League on Thursday, tossing three hitless innings with two walks and five strikeouts.

The 20-year-old right-hander was dominating in his final two starts of the fall, allowing only one hit with 10 strikeouts over six innings. A strained oblique limited Crick to only 14 starts this past season, but he still posted a 1.57 ERA and .201 opponents' batting average with 95 strikeouts in 68.2 innings at High-A San Jose. That said, Crick's command is fringy and will likely be challenged next season at Double-A. If all goes as planned in his development, the right-hander should be ready for an audition in the major leagues in 2015.

Giants prospect Kyle Crick was dominant in his first playoff start for High-A San Jose on Sunday, scattering three hits over seven shutout innings of work.

Crick racked up eight strikeouts in the impressive outing and didn't walk a batter. The 20-year-old righty and first round selection from the 2011 draft posted a stellar 1.57 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 95/39 K/BB ratio over 68 2/3 innings during the regular season for San Jose. He's still a couple years away from contributing to the Giants rotation, but his future looks extremely bright.
