Chris Rusin baffled the Diamondbacks in Saturday's victory, tossing five scoreless innings on just one hit, while striking out six.
Rusin was lifted after five innings, as it was only his first start of the year and he’s not yet stretched out, but he was very good in a difficult ballpark. The lefty had a 77.8 percent ground-ball rate and struck out more than a batter per inning. Yeah, he walked three, but getting out of Arizona with only one hit allowed is a job well done -- especially when the other option was trotting Jordan Lyles out for another start. Rusin still isn’t worth picking up in fantasy leagues, even with the strong showing. He has a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings and will face the Giants on the road, if he continues to get the ball every fifth day. May 1 - 12:03 AM

Date:

Chris Rusin will start Friday against the Diamondbacks.

He'll take Jordan Lyles' spot in the rotation. Rusin has pitched out of the bullpen so far this season, but he was a starter most of last season while putting up a 5.33 ERA and 86/41 K/BB ratio over 131 2/3 innings. He's not a fantasy option.
Apr 25 - 5:25 PM

Chris Rusin (finger) will throw another session of live batting practice on Wednesday.

It will be his second since he suffered an injury to his left middle finger. While Rusin is making progress, he hasn't pitched in a game yet this spring, so a stint on the disabled list seems like a given.
Mar 22 - 7:06 PM

Chris Rusin (finger) played catch Wednesday.

It was his first time throwing a baseball in six days. Rusin has been slowed by inflammation in his left middle finger and is at least a week away from making his Cactus League debut. The left-handed swingman could begin running out of time to crack the Opening Day roster. He had a 5.33 ERA in 22 starts and two relief appearances last year for Colorado.
Mar 9 - 7:22 PM

Chris Rusin (finger) has been scratched from Friday's start against the Athletics.

He's dealing with inflammation in his left middle finger. The Rockies haven't announced who will take his place. Rusin posted a dismal 5.62 ERA in 22 starts for Colorado last season. The 29-year-old doesn't carry much fantasy value.
Mar 3 - 6:40 PM

Chris Rusin was unable to last six innings in Sunday's win over the Dodgers, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Rusin struck out three and walked three on the afternoon. The first run to score off him was unearned, as it came home on a Nolan Arenado error in the second inning. The next three? Earned in quiet fashion an inning later, when the Dodgers worked an infield RBI single and a pair of RBI ground outs. Rusin will carry a 5.37 ERA and 1.62 WHIP into his final start of the season when he heads to San Francisco for a date with the Giants.

Chris Rusin allowed six runs on eight hits over four innings in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

Rusin kept the ball in the yard, but eight hits and four walks provided the Pirates with plenty of opportunities to score. The loss dropped Rusin to 5-9 with a 5.39 ERA and 1.60 WHIP on the year. A date with the Dodgers is on tap for Sunday.

Chris Rusin picked up a no-decision, giving up three runs in six innings, as the Rockies defeated the Dodgers in 16 frames on Tuesday.

Rusin was long forgotten about by the time the Rockies pulled this one out. The lefty yielded only one run through the first six frames, but allowed a double and a walk to begin the seventh before departing. Reliever Boone Logan allowed both inherited runners to score. Overall, Rusin gave up five hits and two walks while striking out three. He now has a 5.11 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, and a 77/32 K/BB ratio over 116 1/3 innings. He'll match up with the Pirates in a home start next.

Chris Rusin struggled in Wednesday's loss to the Padres, surrendering six runs on eight hits over three innings.

Rusin tossed a complete game in his last start, but he wasn't close to nine innings on Wednesday. The Padres scored a run in each of the first two innings before blowing up for four runs in the third. With the lackluster outing, the 28-year-old southpaw will take a tough 5.14 ERA and 1.58 WHIP into his next start, a road tilt with the Dodgers.

Chris Rusin went the distance against the Giants on Thursday, allowing three runs in his second career complete-game victory.

Rusin had a shutout against the Padres last month, so this makes him the team's first pitcher to throw two complete games at Coors Field in the same season since Aaron Cook in 2008. He's still just 5-7 with a 4.78 ERA overall, but that's better than anyone would have expected going into the year.

Chris Rusin turned in a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Pirates, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings.

All three runs against Rusin scored in the first inning when he coughed up a three-run homer to Aramis Ramirez. He posted goose eggs on the scoreboard over the next five frames. He needed a rebound like this after he was rocked for 11 runs over two-plus innings versus the Mets in his last start. The 28-year-old southpaw will carry a 4.94 ERA and 1.61 WHIP into a home date with the Giants next time he toes the rubber.

Chris Rusin was lit up for 11 runs on 12 hits in two-plus innings Saturday in a loss to the Mets.

It was one of those nights at Coors Field, with both teams combining 23 runs on 35 hits. Rusin falls to 4-6 on the year with a 4.97 ERA and 1.62 WHIP.

Chris Rusin threw a fantastic game in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Padres, firing nine shutout innings.

Rusin scattered five hits while striking out four and walking one. All five hits went for singles. His last two starts have both been strong ones, as he allowed just one run over six innings against the Mets in his last outing. For the season, the 28-year-old southpaw holds a 3.99 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 62/23 K/BB ratio over 90 1/3 innings. That high WHIP mark is scary, but Rusin will try to build on these last two outings when he takes on the aforementioned Mets in an upcoming home start.

Chris Rusin allowed only one run in six innings, but got the loss anyway on Tuesday against the Mets.

Rusin had the misfortune of matching up with Matt Harvey and the Rockies couldn't muster any offense. The Mets broke through with a run in the lefty's final inning thanks to a Ruben Tejada single. Rusin scattered eight hits and a walk while striking out five on the night. He hasn't been anything special out of the rotation, carrying a 4.43 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and a 58/22 K/BB ratio over 81 1/3 innings. He'll take on the Padres at home next.

Chris Rusin allowed three earned runs over five innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.

Colorado won the game on an 11th-inning walkoff home run by catcher Michael McKenry. Rusin coughed up eight hits and three walks over his five frames, striking out only three. He'll carry a 4.66 ERA and 1.61 WHIP into his next start on the road against the Mets.
