Chris Rusin was hit hard Tuesday against the Rangers, allowing four runs on seven hits in five frames.

On the plus side, Rusin didn't issue a walk and he racked up four strikeouts. He owns a cool 2.50 ERA and 7/1 K/BB ratio in 18 innings of work this spring, but the 26-year-old left-hander is ticketed for Triple-A Iowa.

Chris Rusin tossed five shutout frames against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Rusin gave up just one hit while striking out one and walking one. The Dodgers had Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp and Adrian Gonzalez in there, so he wasn't facing chumps. The 26-year-old left-hander now has a 0.69 ERA and 3/1 K/BB ratio over 13 innings of work this spring. While his performance has been worthy of a spot on the Opening Day roster, he has options remaining and should open the season in the Triple-A Iowa rotation.

Chris Rusin was credited with a win after allowing two runs -- one earned -- and three hits in five innings Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

The Cubs were down 2-1 after five, but they scored three unearned runs off Bryan Shaw in the top of the sixth to put Rusin in line for the win. The bullpen did a nice job from there, giving Rusin his second victory to go along with a 6.37 ERA in seven starts. He doesn't figure into the rotation picture for 2013, and it's iffy whether he'll keep his 40-man roster spot this winter.

Chris Rusin was shelled in Tuesday’s loss to the Rockies, allowing six runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Rusin walked one and didn’t record a strikeout. Wilin Rosario got the Rockies on the board with a solo homer in the second inning, then Tyler Colvin added a two-run triple in the third to provide the bulk of the damage. Rusin has been horribly ineffective through his first six starts, now 1-3 with a 7.30 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings. He’ll look to finish the season on a high note when he takes on the D'Backs in Arizona on Sunday.

Chris Rusin took a no-decision in Wednesday's 11-inning loss to the Reds, allowing five runs on 10 hits in two innings.

Rusin walked two and struck out two, and may have been lucky to escape allowing only five runs. Rusin was coming off back-to-back strong starts against the Pirates, but has seen his handling of the fading Bucs bookended by rough nights against Cincinnati and Washington. Now the owner of a 6.00 ERA through 21 frames, Rusin won't be a serious candidate for a roster spot next spring.

Chris Rusin yielded two runs in five innings and struck out six in beating the Pirates on Friday for his first major league victory.

Andrew McCutchen excepted, the Pirates are just mailing it in now. Rusin had walked six in 11 innings as a big leaguer, but with the Pirates hacking away, he went without allowing a free pass today, though he did hit a batter. He still has a 5.06 ERA in four starts since being called up.

Chris Rusin was destroyed in a losing effort against the Nationals on Tuesday, surrendering five runs on eight hits in just one-plus innings of work.

Rusin walked one and struck out one in the extremely short outing. Ian Desmond was responsible for the majority of the damage, blasting a two-run homer in the first inning and smashing a two-run double to chase Rusin in the second. The lefty will head into Sunday’s matchup against the Pirates with an 0-2 record, 9.00 ERA and 5/3 K/BB ratio over his first two MLB starts.

Cubs recalled LHP Chris Rusin from Double-A Tennessee.

Rusin posted a 4.46 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 143 1/3 innings this season in the Cubs' minor league system. He is starting on Tuesday night against the Nationals.

Cubs optioned LHP Chris Rusin to Triple-A Iowa

Rusin made his major league debut Tuesday, and will likely be recalled when rosters expand in September. He has an underwhelming 4.59 ERA and 87/52 K/BB ratio over 133 1/3 innings (24 starts) in the minors.

Chris Rusin pitched well in a losing effort against the Brewers in his MLB debut on Tuesday, surrendering one run on just one hit over five strong innings.

Rusin punched out four and walked two. Corey Hart's RBI single in the fourth inning was the only hit that the youngster allowed, but it turned out to be the game's winning run. Rusin also had a memorable night at the plate, hitting a triple in his first MLB at-bat. It was a nice evening for the left-hander, but he can go on being ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Cubs purchased the contract of LHP Chris Rusin from Triple-A Iowa.

Rusin will make his major league debut on Tuesday night against the Brewers. He had an underwhelming 4.59 ERA and 87/52 K/BB ratio in 133 1/3 innings (24 starts) with Iowa and should be avoided in all fantasy formats.

The Cubs will call up left-hander Chris Rusin to start Tuesday against the Brewers.

Rusin, 25, has a 4.59 ERA and 87/52 K/BB ratio over 133 1/3 innings over 24 starts at the Triple-A level this year. This will be his major league debut, so he can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum mentioned Chris Rusin as a good candidate to be called up to start Tuesday at Milwaukee.

The 25-year-old left-hander has never pitched in the big leagues. He's 8-8 with a 4.59 ERA over 24 starts at Triple-A Iowa to go with a 87/52 K/BB rate over 133-plus innings. Chicago needs a Tuesday starter because of Saturday's doubleheader. Rusin shouldn't be considered in any fantasy format.
