Chris Rusin had a nightmarish performance against the D'Backs on Wednesday, allowing nine runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Rusin allowed runs in each of the three innings in which he appeared. Overall, he allowed ten hits. Four were singles, two were doubles, and four were home runs. Rusin's odds of inclusion at the back of the Cubs' starting rotation may have taken a hit.

Chris Rusin pitched well in Friday's Cactus League victory over the White Sox, scattering two hits over five scoreless innings.

The 27-year-old hurler struck out two without issuing a walk in the contest. He now owns a 3.78 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio through 16 1/3 innings on the spring. He could begin the season as the fifth starter in the Cubs rotation while Jake Arrieta works his way back from injury.
Mar 21 - 8:44 PM

Chris Rusin allowed four runs in 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

Rusin allowed six hits, including a Jordy Mercer home run, and one walk while striking out one on Tuesday. The wheels really fell off for Rusin down the stretch -- the left-hander owned a 2.85 ERA on September 12, but a clunker against the Brewers and his protracted start on Tuesday leaves him with a 3.93 ERA to end the season. He'll finish the year with a 2-6 record.

Chris Rusin allowed six runs over four innings in a loss to the Brewers on Wednesday.

Rusin has generally been good for the Cubs this year, but the Brewers got to him for a five-run first inning on Wednesday. The big blow was a grand slam off the bat of Sean Halton, but Rusin also gave up a home run to Khris Davis before exiting. The clunker took his ERA from 2.85 to 3.52 through 12 starts. He's got another tough assignment next week against the Pirates.

Chris Rusin gave up three runs -- two earned -- over five innings Saturday in a no-decision vs. the Phillies.

Rusin walked three and allowed three hits -- including a second-inning home run to Kevin Frandsen. The left-hander has been good overall since taking Matt Garza's rotation spot but he's not a recommended fantasy option outside of NL-only formats. He gets the Brewers next time out.

Chris Rusin didn't allow any runs over 6 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Padres.

Rusin has been solid for the Cubs since taking over Matt Garza's rotation spot, but continues to struggle to pitch deep into games. He gave up three hits, four walks, and finished with three strikeouts. Rusin will take a 2.64 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into his next start Saturday vs. the Phillies.
Sun, Aug 25, 2013 09:36:00 PM

Chris Rusin allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Rusin was actually fortunate to escape without further damage, as he allowed 10 hits and two walks on the night. It was an unorthodox route, but the southpaw has now allowed two runs or fewer in three straight starts. Despite the 3.08 ERA in seven starts this year, Rusin is 2-3 heading into his start against the Padres at Petco Park on Sunday.
