Chris Rusin went the distance against the Giants on Thursday, allowing three runs in his second career complete-game victory.
Rusin had a shutout against the Padres last month, so this makes him the team's first pitcher to throw two complete games at Coors Field in the same season since Aaron Cook in 2008. He's still just 5-7 with a 4.78 ERA overall, but that's better than anyone would have expected going into the year. Sep 4 - 12:03 AM

Chris Rusin turned in a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Pirates, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings.

All three runs against Rusin scored in the first inning when he coughed up a three-run homer to Aramis Ramirez. He posted goose eggs on the scoreboard over the next five frames. He needed a rebound like this after he was rocked for 11 runs over two-plus innings versus the Mets in his last start. The 28-year-old southpaw will carry a 4.94 ERA and 1.61 WHIP into a home date with the Giants next time he toes the rubber.
Aug 29 - 10:21 PM

Chris Rusin was lit up for 11 runs on 12 hits in two-plus innings Saturday in a loss to the Mets.

It was one of those nights at Coors Field, with both teams combining 23 runs on 35 hits. Rusin falls to 4-6 on the year with a 4.97 ERA and 1.62 WHIP.
Aug 22 - 11:51 PM

Chris Rusin threw a fantastic game in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Padres, firing nine shutout innings.

Rusin scattered five hits while striking out four and walking one. All five hits went for singles. His last two starts have both been strong ones, as he allowed just one run over six innings against the Mets in his last outing. For the season, the 28-year-old southpaw holds a 3.99 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 62/23 K/BB ratio over 90 1/3 innings. That high WHIP mark is scary, but Rusin will try to build on these last two outings when he takes on the aforementioned Mets in an upcoming home start.
Aug 16 - 7:39 PM

Chris Rusin allowed only one run in six innings, but got the loss anyway on Tuesday against the Mets.

Rusin had the misfortune of matching up with Matt Harvey and the Rockies couldn't muster any offense. The Mets broke through with a run in the lefty's final inning thanks to a Ruben Tejada single. Rusin scattered eight hits and a walk while striking out five on the night. He hasn't been anything special out of the rotation, carrying a 4.43 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and a 58/22 K/BB ratio over 81 1/3 innings. He'll take on the Padres at home next.
Aug 11 - 10:05 PM

Chris Rusin allowed three earned runs over five innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.

Colorado won the game on an 11th-inning walkoff home run by catcher Michael McKenry. Rusin coughed up eight hits and three walks over his five frames, striking out only three. He'll carry a 4.66 ERA and 1.61 WHIP into his next start on the road against the Mets.
Aug 5 - 7:23 PM

Chris Rusin allowed five runs (two earned) in six innings, taking a no-decision as the Rockies walked off winners against the Rangers on Monday.

Rusin made a throwing error in the fifth inning to put runners on first and second with no outs. The Rangers eventually would score three runs in the frame. Rusin, overall, gave up seven hits and a walk while striking out five in an otherwise solid effort. The lefty has made nine starts and two relief appearances but has already allowed eight earned runs. On the season, Rusin has an untrustworthy 3.88 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP and a 40/18 K/BB ratio in 60 1/3 innings. He'll go up against the Reds at home in his next start.
Jul 21 - 12:29 AM

Chris Rusin allowed five hits and two runs over six frames in Wednesday's no-decision versus the Angels.

Rusin whiffed two and walked two in the 3-2 loss. He held a 5.03 ERA on June 21 but has surrendered only five earned runs in his past three starts to slash that figure to 4.13. Rusin's track record and peripherals -- including a 34/16 K/BB rate and 1.51 WHIP -- suggest his ERA will be back near 5 in no time.
Jul 9 - 2:17 AM

Chris Rusin allowed six hits and three runs -- one earned -- over six frames in a loss to Arizona on Thursday.

Rusin whiffed six and walked two. He's now 3-3 with a 4.27 ERA in 46-plus innings, surpassing expectations, but that will change any day now, as his 1.55 WHIP and 32/14 K/BB rate both portend rough times ahead. Steer clear in fantasy.
Jul 3 - 12:56 AM

Chris Rusin allowed 10 hits and five runs -- two earned -- over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Saturday.

Rusin was twice given multiple-run leads only to hand them back. It was the third time in his last four starts that Rusin has allowed nine hits or more, but he narrowly escaped taking his third loss in his last four games. Rusin remains 3-2 with a 4.69 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. He'll look for a better result Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Jun 27 - 7:33 PM

Chris Rusin pitched well in a victory over the Brewers on Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits over six frames.

Rusin struck out two on the day and didn't walk a batter. He allowed single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings, but was able to avoid any extended rallies by the Brewers. Now 3-2 on the season, Rusin will carry a 5.03 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 22/11 K/BB ratio into Saturday's matchup against the Giants in San Francisco.
Jun 21 - 7:30 PM

Chris Rusin was knocked around for seven runs over four innings in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

Rusin gave up nine hits, including a pair of home run to Luis Valbuena. The southpaw struck out four and walked two (one intentional) in the loss. He has allowed 13 runs in 9 1/3 innings over his last two starts and now holds a 5.14 ERA on the year. In case it wasn't obvious enough already, fantasy owners should look elsewhere.
Jun 16 - 6:08 PM

Chris Rusin limited the Marlins to two runs in seven innings Saturday in a Rockies victory.

Rusin was staked to a four-run lead after one inning and cruised from there, scattering seven hits and two walks over his seven solid frames. He was also sharp last Tuesday against the Reds and has a chance to stick around in the Rockies' rotation now that Jordan Lyles (toe) is done for the year. Another meeting with the Marlins is next.
Jun 6 - 8:40 PM

Chris Rusin held the Reds to one run over seven innings in a no-decision on Tuesday.

Rusin was pressed into action when Jorge De La Rosa was scratched with a cut on his pitching hand. In De La Rosa's place, Rusin yielded just four hits and four walks, striking out five in his season debut. He didn't factor in the decision -- the game remained tied 1-1 after both starters were out of the game -- but it was still a good showing for the 28-year-old. De La Rosa isn't expected to miss any more time, so Rusin's future in the rotation is still unclear.
May 26 - 10:02 PM

Rockies recalled LHP Chris Rusin from Triple-A Albuquerque.

He'll start Tuesday against the Reds with Jorge De La Rosa sidelined due to a cut on his pitching hand. Rusin has an ugly 6.29 ERA over six starts and one relief appearance this season in Triple-A and isn't a fantasy option.
