Rockies placed LHP Chris Rusin on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder.

The injury opens the door for Jorge De La Rosa to return to the starting rotation. It's poor timing as Rusin was coming off his best start of the season Wednesday against the Dodgers (6 IP, 3 H, 0 R). Shoulder injuries can be tricky so we wouldn't expect a quick recovery. Rusin owns a middling 4.12 ERA over 12 outings this year (seven starts).
Jun 14 - 5:57 PM

Chris Rusin combined with four relievers on a shutout of the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Rusin allowed three hits over six innings before being taken out in a double-switch in the seventh. If the Rockies hadn't scored that inning, Rusin would have remained winless in seven starts this season. The Rockies, though, did take a 1-0 lead that the bullpen held on to from there. Rusin isn't any sort of option in fantasy leagues.
Jun 9 - 1:34 AM

Chris Rusin was hit hard in Sunday's loss to the Giants, surrendering six runs on 11 hits over his five frames.

Rusin walked three and struck out three in the contest. The Giants got to him early and often in this one, scoring all six of their runs in the first four innings, including a solo homer by Denard Span. Now 1-3 on the season, Rusin will carry a 4.75 ERA and 1.51 WHIP into Friday's start against the Padres in San Diego.
May 29 - 9:25 PM

Chris Rusin allowed two earned runs over six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Matt Holliday got to Rusin for a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning. That proved to be the only offense of the night for either side. Rusin lowered his ERA in the loss, from 4.85 to 4.50. He's lined up to pitch at Fenway Park next.
May 18 - 11:10 PM

Chris Rusin allowed four runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

In his last two starts, the left-hander has given up 23 combined hits -- but zero homers -- and 11 runs in 10 innings of work. On Tuesday, Rusin danced around trouble until the sixth inning, when the Diamondbacks plated all four of their runs. Through seven appearances, including three starts, the 29-year-old owns a 4.85 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. He'll look for a better showing Tuesday at the Cardinals.
May 11 - 12:54 AM

Chris Rusin was ineffective in Thursday's win over the Giants, surrendering seven runs on 13 hits over 4 1/3 innings.

The Rockies scored 13 runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 17-3 lead, but despite that monstrous lead, Rusin would immediately run into trouble in the bottom of the frame and was pulled with one out. The Giants would score four runs before the longest fifth inning in the history of mankind (estimated) finally came to a close. Rusin will take a 4.33 ERA and 1.33 WHIP into his next scheduled start, a home showdown with the Diamondbacks.
May 6 - 1:44 AM

Chris Rusin baffled the Diamondbacks in Saturday's victory, tossing five scoreless innings on just one hit, while striking out six.

Rusin was lifted after five innings, as it was only his first start of the year and he’s not yet stretched out, but he was very good in a difficult ballpark. The lefty had a 77.8 percent ground-ball rate and struck out more than a batter per inning. Yeah, he walked three, but getting out of Arizona with only one hit allowed is a job well done -- especially when the other option was trotting Jordan Lyles out for another start. Rusin still isn’t worth picking up in fantasy leagues, even with the strong showing. He has a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings and will face the Giants on the road, if he continues to get the ball every fifth day.
May 1 - 12:03 AM

Chris Rusin will start Friday against the Diamondbacks.

He'll take Jordan Lyles' spot in the rotation. Rusin has pitched out of the bullpen so far this season, but he was a starter most of last season while putting up a 5.33 ERA and 86/41 K/BB ratio over 131 2/3 innings. He's not a fantasy option.
Apr 25 - 5:25 PM

Chris Rusin (finger) will throw another session of live batting practice on Wednesday.

It will be his second since he suffered an injury to his left middle finger. While Rusin is making progress, he hasn't pitched in a game yet this spring, so a stint on the disabled list seems like a given.
Mar 22 - 7:06 PM

Chris Rusin (finger) played catch Wednesday.

It was his first time throwing a baseball in six days. Rusin has been slowed by inflammation in his left middle finger and is at least a week away from making his Cactus League debut. The left-handed swingman could begin running out of time to crack the Opening Day roster. He had a 5.33 ERA in 22 starts and two relief appearances last year for Colorado.
Mar 9 - 7:22 PM

Chris Rusin (finger) has been scratched from Friday's start against the Athletics.

He's dealing with inflammation in his left middle finger. The Rockies haven't announced who will take his place. Rusin posted a dismal 5.62 ERA in 22 starts for Colorado last season. The 29-year-old doesn't carry much fantasy value.
Mar 3 - 6:40 PM

Chris Rusin was unable to last six innings in Sunday's win over the Dodgers, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Rusin struck out three and walked three on the afternoon. The first run to score off him was unearned, as it came home on a Nolan Arenado error in the second inning. The next three? Earned in quiet fashion an inning later, when the Dodgers worked an infield RBI single and a pair of RBI ground outs. Rusin will carry a 5.37 ERA and 1.62 WHIP into his final start of the season when he heads to San Francisco for a date with the Giants.

Chris Rusin allowed six runs on eight hits over four innings in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

Rusin kept the ball in the yard, but eight hits and four walks provided the Pirates with plenty of opportunities to score. The loss dropped Rusin to 5-9 with a 5.39 ERA and 1.60 WHIP on the year. A date with the Dodgers is on tap for Sunday.
Wed, Sep 23, 2015 01:25:00 AM

Chris Rusin picked up a no-decision, giving up three runs in six innings, as the Rockies defeated the Dodgers in 16 frames on Tuesday.

Rusin was long forgotten about by the time the Rockies pulled this one out. The lefty yielded only one run through the first six frames, but allowed a double and a walk to begin the seventh before departing. Reliever Boone Logan allowed both inherited runners to score. Overall, Rusin gave up five hits and two walks while striking out three. He now has a 5.11 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, and a 77/32 K/BB ratio over 116 1/3 innings. He'll match up with the Pirates in a home start next.
