Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Orioles will call up Kevin Gausman to make his major league debut on Thursday against the Blue Jays.
The report has been confirmed by multiple outlets. Manager Buck Showalter previously indicated that it would be either T.J. McFarland or Jake Arrieta that would start on Thursday, but apparently that won't be the case. The No. 4 overall pick in last year's draft, Gausman has been dominant in eight starts at Double-A Bowie this season, posting a 3.11 ERA and 49/5 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings. He's worth scooping up in all fantasy formats. May 21 - 10:57 PM

Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Tuesday that Kevin Gausman is "not a candidate for us to recall him."

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported earlier this month that Gausman could be in the big leagues before long, but it appears that a promotion isn't in the immediate future. "Gausman is doing fine," Duquette said. "I'm going to tell you he's not a candidate for us to recall him. He's doing fine at Double-A, and he's getting used to professional baseball." Gausman, who holds a 3.35 ERA and 39/4 K/BB ratio at Double-A Bowie, should make his major league debut sometime this season.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal writes that Kevin Gausman "might not be in the minors much longer."

Gausman has a 3.77 ERA but a nifty 29/1 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings at Double-A Bowie this season, numbers he's compiled after making a strong impression in spring training. The Orioles are searching for a No. 5 starter and are likely to turn to Freddy Garcia next, but Gausman might not be far behind. He's thrown just 43 2/3 frames at the pro level, but, as Rosenthal notes, O's general manager Dan Duquette was aggressive with promotions last season, calling up both Manny Machado and Dylan Bundy. Gausman is worth stashing in deeper formats.
May 1 - 7:07 PM

Orioles prospect Kevin Gausman had a season-high eight strikeouts in his start Sunday with Double-A Bowie.

He gave up just one run on five hits and threw 94 pitches. Gausman has a 3.77 ERA and 29/1 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings at the Double-A level. It's an impressive start to the season, but the Orioles will continue to let him get more seasoning in the minors. He's still not close to making his MLB debut.

Apr 29 - 2:28 PM

The 2012 first-round pick Kevin Gausman pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed two runs Thursday in his start versus the Rays.

Gausman has been very impressive in camp, but he was wild today, walking three batters. He is going to need some minor league time early on this season, but like Dylan Bundy, he's not all that far away.
Mar 14 - 5:01 PM

Orioles skipper Buck Showalter indicated on Saturday that he's been impressed with what he's seen of prospect right-hander Kevin Gausman so far in spring camp.

Gausman, who was selected fourth overall in last June's First-Year Player Draft, could put himself on the fast track to the major leagues with an impressive spring training. Showalter was particularly impressed with Gausman's grasp of the changeup at such a young stage in his career.
Feb 16 - 9:59 PM

Orioles prospect right-hander Kevin Gausman tossed three perfect innings Monday in his pro debut with Class A Aberdeen.

Gausman, who was selected fourth overall in June's First-Year Player Draft, struck out two and threw 23 out of 31 pitches for strikes. Hard to start your pro career much better. The 21-year-old right-hander will likely get a couple more starts in this season and figures to appear just behind Dylan Bundy and Manny Machado on O's prospect lists this winter.

2012 No. 4 overall pick Kevin Gausman wrote on his Twitter account on Friday that he has agreed to terms with the Orioles.

Gausman is at Camden Yards and is expected to be officially introduced at a press conference prior to Friday's game. ESPN's Keith Law reports that he'll get a $4.32 million bonus, slightly above MLB's slot recommendation of $4.2 million, but the O's did not exceed their bonus pool allotment. Gausman, a 21-year-old right-hander out of LSU, was the first pitcher selected in last month's First-Year Player Draft.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Orioles have made "significant progress" in negotiations with No. 4 overall pick Kevin Gausman.

There was some doubt about the two sides reaching an agreement earlier this week, but it appeared to be just your typical posturing, as Heyman now hears that a deal "seems likely." Gausman, the first pitcher taken in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, is reportedly aiming for a bonus slightly above the slot recommendation of $4.2 million. The O's must sign him before 5 p.m. ET on Friday.

LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri said reports that No. 4 overall pick Kevin Gausman is returning to college for his junior season are "premature."

"Kevin is still in negotiations...any reports portraying his return to LSU as definite are premature," Mainieri said. Meanwhile, Orioles scouting director Gary Rajsich told the Baltimore Sun that the team and Gausman are "talking and it is progressing. We are making progress." In other words, it hardly appears to be a slam dunk that Gausman will return to LSU, as a previous New Orleans Times-Picayune report indicated.

Albert Burford of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that No. 4 overall pick Kevin Gausman will return for his junior season at LSU rather than sign with the Orioles.

Gausman told the Times-Picayune that it's "turning out to be a tough decision" and "there are still things for me to accomplish as a Tiger." He didn't exactly totally commit to returning to school, though, saying "we'll see what happens." The report should be taken with a grain of salt, as it could just be posturing by Gausman's representatives as we get close to the deadline on Friday.

The Orioles picked LSU RHP Kevin Gausman with No. 4 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Most assumed that Baltimore, badly in need of pitching, would grab draft-slider Mark Appel, but they went with Gausman, who was ranked three spots ahead of Appel by ESPN's Keith Law. Goose is still growing into his frame and displays three plus pitches. A ground-ball machine, Gausman excelled as a sophomore in college baseball's toughest conference. He is a potential No. 1 starter, but projects more neatly as a No. 2.
