White Sox OF prospect Courtney Hawkins slugged three hits Monday in Double-A Birmingham's loss to Mobile.
He drove in four of the Barons' five runs while extending his hitting streak to seven games. Hawkins has hit .483 over that span while increasing his season average from .197 to .248. 18 of his 28 RBI this season have come in the month of June. The 2012 first-round pick has only homered 13 times since the start of 2015. That's a mild disappointment after drilling 38 long balls over his previous two seasons. Jun 28 - 2:53 PM

White Sox prospect Courtney Hawkins has been sidelined by a mild oblique strain.

Hawkins was the 13th overall selection in the 2012 amateur draft. He is currently stationed at Triple-A Charlotte. He should be considered day-to-day moving forward. There has been no indication that this is any kind of major injury. With a .233/.299/.424 triple-slash in 1,382 at-bats in the low minors, the 22-year-old outfielder remains a ways away from providing for the major league team.

White Sox prospect Courtney Hawkins turned heads by hitting a home run onto a moving train Sunday for Double-A Birmingham.

This unique feat was accomplished in a 10-4 win over Montgomery. The 21-year-old is striking out at a tremendous clip (38 Ks in 106 at-bats) but he's also been among the most powerful hitters in Double-A. He ranks second in the league with 21 RBI and is ninth in slugging (.491). A 7-for-16 stretch has raised Hawkins' average from .222 to .255.

White Sox reassigned OF Courtney Hawkins and INF Juan Diaz to minor league camp.

Hawkins had a monster performance during Cactus League action, batting .412 (14-for-34) with four homers, three doubles, and a 1.282 OPS over 18 games. The arrow is suddenly pointing up for the 2012 first-round pick, but he needs to make better contact. Playing in Double-A will be a good test for him.

Courtney Hawkins hit two home runs, driving in four, in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Royals.

Both of Hawkins' homers were two-run shots. The outfielder now has four homers and nine RBI in 31 at-bats this spring. He's hitting .419 in his bid to force his way into a crowded White Sox outfield picture.

White Sox outfield prospect Courtney Hawkins went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk for High-A Winston-Salem on Wednesday.

Hawkins, the 13th overall pick in the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft, is hitting .253/.334/.466 with 25 doubles, four triples, and 19 home runs for the season. He has struggled to make consistent contact, racking up high strikeout totals while being moved from center field to left field, but there's still upside here. Hawkins will likely open 2015 as a 21-year-old in Double-A Birmingham.

White Sox prospect OF Courtney Hawkins went 1-for-3 with his 18th home run of the season on Sunday for High-A Winston-Salem.

The home run was Hawkins’ first of the month as well as his first since July 30. The 20-year-old outfielder batted .178/.249/.384 with 19 home runs and a 160-29 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 103 games at Winston-Salem in 2013, so the fact that he’s batting .251/.332/.460 with 18 home runs and a 132-49 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 113 games this season while repeating the level is very encouraging. He’s currently battling through his worst month of the season (.605 OPS in 15 August games), but Hawkins should still open 2015 at Double-A Birmingham.

White Sox outfield prospect Courtney Hawkins went 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk for High-A Winston Salem on Wednesday.

Hawkins started the season off well, hitting .289/.358/.602 in April, but has hit .244/.331/.444 with 16 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, and 82 strikeouts in 312 plate appearances in May, June, and July. For the season, he has 107 strikeouts in 407 plate appearances (26.3 percent), and is now primarily playing left field. Two years ago, the White Sox drafted Hawkins 13th overall, but he has fallen off every top 100 list, and would not even be on top 10 White Sox prospects were it not for the poor state of their farm system.

White Sox outfield prospect Courtney Hawkins went 0-for-5 for High-A Winston-Salem on Wednesday and is hitting just .125/.300/.188 over his past five games.

He still has a promising overall season line at .268/.348/.546, but he has hit just .212/.312/.424 with 21 strikeouts over his past 19 games. Despite playing in the Carolina League for the second consecutive season, he is still the ninth-youngest player in the league. There is hope for a sudden turnaround.

White Sox prospect outfielder Courtney Hawkins hit his sixth home run of the season on Saturday as part of a 2-for-3 game for High-A Winston-Salem.

Hawkins is hitting a respectable .295/.337/.590, but has and ugly 25 strikeouts in 86 plate appearances. If Hawkins cannot cut down on his strikeouts, he won't be able to get past pitchers in the high minor leagues, let alone get out of High-A.

White Sox outfield prospect Courtney Hawkins went 2-for-4 with an RBI for High-A Winston-Salem on Monday.

Hawkins is flourishing in his second season with Winston-Salem, putting up a .333/.370/.643 line with three home runs and four doubles. He also has a league-leading 15 RBI to go with his 14 strikeouts (tied for 5th most). Hawkins' overall potential took a big hit with his dismal 2013 season, so it is encouraging that he is hitting well to start 2014.

White Sox prospect OF Courtney Hawkins had a big game on Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and five RBI for High-A Winston-Salem.

Hawkins, the 13th overall pick in the 2012 draft, had a dismal 2012 campaign at Winston-Salem, batting .178/.249/.384 with 19 home runs and 160 strikeouts in 103 games. So the 20-year-old's hot start this year while repeating the level is definitely an encouraging sign, as he's currently batting .421 with three doubles and three home runs through five games. Hawkins also leads all Carolina League hitters with 11 RBI.

The White Sox "love" top prospect Courtney Hawkins' ceiling, writes MLB.com's Phil Rogers.

White Sox assistant general manager Buddy Bell on Sunday said Hawkins has 40 homer, 130 RBI upside. To come anywhere close to reaching it, Hawkins needs to improve his grasp of the strike zone and eliminate holes in his elongated swing. The 13th overall pick in 2012's draft struggled through a horrific 2013 season as a 19-year-old, slashing .178/.249/.384 at High-A Winston-Salem. Hawkins could end up being a poor man's Nelson Cruz.

The team should have more information and will comment on his status on Saturday. The 19-year-old is off to a rough start at High-A Winston-Salem, hitting .192/.258/.497 with 84 strikeouts and 14 home runs through his first 46 games.

White Sox prospect Courtney Hawkins left a game Wednesday at High-A Winston-Salem with a shoulder injury.

The White Sox are worried that the injury might be serious and will send the 19-year-old outfielder for an MRI on Friday. Hawkins has seven home runs and 17 RBI in 23 games this season for Winston-Salem but that power production has come alongside a .177 batting average and .247 on-base percentage. He is still very raw.
