Roman Quinn hit a three-run homer Tuesday off the Tigers' Alex Wilson.
Quinn played center today, but the plan is to give him some infield time this spring. His path to a spot in the Phillies' outfield got a lot cloudier with the team committing to Rhys Hoskins in left for the foreseeable future. Now he's aiming for a super-utility role. Feb 27 - 5:28 PM

Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that the Phillies will try Roman Quinn at shortstop this spring.

The Phillies are putting an emphasis on defensive versatility under new manager Gabe Kapler and want to give Quinn a look in the middle of the infield. The 24-year-old was drafted as a shortstop back in 2011, but made a move to the outfield shortly after. If Quinn shows he can handle playing in the dirt on top of his ability to play every outfield position, it will bode well for his chances of making the 25-man roster.

Roman Quinn will rest and rehab his strained left (non-throwing) elbow rather than have surgery.

Quinn has ulnar collateral ligament damage, but with it being his non-throwing elbow it seems like the rehab route has a good chance to be successful. He'll be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. The young outfielder is batting .274/.344/.389 with two homers and 10 steals at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.

An MRI revealed a UCL injury to Roman Quinn's left (non-throwing) elbow.

Quinn will now visit Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion. Surgery is one potential outcome, here. Quinn had been hitting .274/.344/.389 with a pair of homers and 10 steals with Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to injuring his elbow.

Roman Quinn will have his elbow examined on Tuesday by a doctor in Philadelphia.

Quinn is feeling better but hasn't played since May 28. He's hitting .274/.344/.389 with two homers and 10 steals for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies optioned OF Roman Quinn to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Quinn was always ticketed for Triple-A out of spring training, but he should be brought up for good at some point in 2017. The 23-year-old outfield prospect batted .302/.372/.451 with six home runs and 36 stolen bases in 77 games last season between rookie ball and Double-A Reading. He then made his MLB debut as a September callup.

Roman Quinn went 1-for-3, walked twice, scored twice and stole a base in a 7-4 win over the Braves on Saturday.

The 23-year-old speedster was lined up to start in the outfield until the Phillies brought in free agents Michael Saunders and Howie Kendrick. Quinn will likely start the season at Triple-A but is likely to see time with the big club again this year. He hit .263/.373/.333 with five steals in a 15-game stint with the Phillies in 2016. He swiped another 36 bases in just 77 minor league games.

Roman Quinn went 2-for-3 with a homer and a steal against the University of Tampa on Thursday.

Quinn seemed a lot more interesting for fantasy purposes six months ago, before the Phillies committed to Odubel Herrera going forward and brought in Michael Saunders and Howie Kendrick for the outfield corners. Quinn needs some Triple-A time anyway, so that he's been blocked for now isn't a big problem. Still, center field is now spoken for in Philly and it doesn't seem all that likely that Quinn will have the bat to be a regular in a corner.

Roman Quinn left Tuesday's game against the Braves with a strained left oblique.

Quinn was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored before departing in the sixth inning. The injury is almost certainly going to end his cup of coffee with the Phillies, given that oblique strains typically require 3-4 weeks of rest and rehab. Quinn, a highly-regarded outfield prospect, batted .263/.373/.333 with four doubles and five stolen bases over his first 15 major leagues.

Roman Quinn went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

He also drew a walk, reaching base in three of his four trips to the plate. Quinn was the only Phillie to tally multiple hits on the night. It looks like the young outfielder is going to play regularly and also bat second down the stretch, and he's off to a nice start with four hits in 10 at-bats and a stolen base. His speed makes him worth a look in deeper formats.

Appearing in his second MLB game, Roman Quinn went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and a stolen base in Monday’s 6-2 victory over the Pirates.

It was an impressive night for the recent call-up. Quinn walked and swiped his first base in the majors in the first inning before he collected his first MLB hit with an opposite-field double to plate two runs in the second inning. He later doubled again in the sixth inning. The Phillies plan to give the speedy outfielder plenty of playing time the rest of the way, so he makes for an intriguing pickup in fantasy leagues.

Roman Quinn is starting in right field and batting second Monday versus the Pirates.

He started in center and hit second Sunday in his major league debut. Quinn has good speed and is capable of providing significant fantasy value over these final three weeks if the Phillies continue to treat him like an everyday player worthy of the No. 2 lineup spot.

Phillies recalled OF Roman Quinn from Double-A Reading.

The top prospect batted .287/.361/.441 with six homers and 31 steals for Reading this season. Quinn, 23, could be interesting in fantasy leagues if he gets playing time, but there's no guarantee of that happening. He might serve mainly as a pinch-runner down the stretch.

Jim Salisbury of hears that the Phillies could include prospect outfielder Roman Quinn among their September call-ups.

Quinn missed some time with an oblique injury this season, but the speedy switch-hitter owns a .297/.370/.420 batting line with three homers and 26 steals over 54 games this season with Double-A Reading. The Phillies are also expected to promote the more high-profile Nick Williams, so it will be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out with Odubel Herrera and Aaron Altherr already in the mix.

Phillies prospect Roman Quinn played five innings of center field Monday in the Gulf Coast League.

It was the first minor league rehab game for Quinn, who landed on the disabled list at Double-A Reading in mid-June with a left oblique strain. The 23-year-old top-100 prospect was batting .288/.361/.420 with three home runs and 25 stolen bases in 50 games this season at the Double-A level.
