Angels recalled LHP Nick Maronde from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Maronde put up a 6.14 ERA and walked eight over his first 7 1/3 innings at Salt Lake, but he also struck out 11. The lefty is making a full-time transition to the bullpen this season and has a nice arm. He'll work in middle relief.

Angels optioned LHP Nick Maronde to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Maronde put up a 2.26 ERA as a starter in 2012 in his first full season, but he'll make the move to reliever at Triple-A, as the Angels feel his stuff plays better out of the pen. He struck out 11 over 9 2/3 innings this spring but also walked seven and gave up 13 runs (12 earned).

Nick Maronde - R - Angels

Angels purchased the contract of LHP Nick Maronde from Double-A Arkansas.

A third-round pick in 2011, Maronde posted a 2.26 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 4.74 strikeout-to-walk ratio at three different levels of the minors. Baseball America ranked him as the Angels' No. 10 prospect prior to the season.
