Date:

Dodgers designated RHP Red Patterson for assignment.

The move was made to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Scott Elbert who had his contract purchased Friday. He should pass through waivers and continue to function as organizational depth.

Dodgers optioned RHP Red Patterson to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Patterson allowed one run in 4 2/3 innings against the Twins Thursday in his major league debut. The 26-year-old returns to a 4.15 ERA at Triple-A.
May 4 - 8:28 AM

Red Patterson allowed one run in 4 2/3 innings and got the no-decision as the Dodgers defeated the Twins in 12 innings on Thursday.

All in all, an okay MLB debut for Patterson, who allowed two hits and walked three while striking out one. The 26-year-old right-hander ran out of steam in the fifth inning, walking two Twins before departing with two outs. The expectations weren't that high, but he'll need to be better at missing bats in the future.
May 2 - 12:39 AM

Dodgers purchased the contract of RHP Red Patterson from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Patterson will start the second half of Thursday's doubleheader at Minnesota's Target Field. He doesn't have great numbers this year at the Triple-A level and is not a good fantasy option in his major league debut.
May 1 - 9:55 AM

According to ESPN's Keith Law, the Dodgers will give Red Patterson a spot start in Thursday's doubleheader.

The Dodgers were rained out Tuesday night in Minnesota and will reach into the minors for an emergency arm so that their other starters can stay on track. Patterson, 26, has a 4.15 ERA, 1.385 WHIP, and 14/5 K/BB ratio in 21 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He's not a good fantasy bet, even against the Twins.
Apr 30 - 5:37 PM

Dodgers reassigned RHP Red Patterson to minor league camp.

Patterson is coming off a strong 2013 season, going 7-4 with a 3.03 ERA as a swing man with Triple-A Albuquerque. Included in those numbers is a stellar 109/49 K/BB ratio in 107 innings. He allowed one run in 6 1/3 Cactus League innings this spring. If the 26-year-old starts out hot on the farm, he'll put himself in a position for a promotion of injuries strike L.A.'s bullpen.
