He's taking Jerry Hairston's spot on the roster. Herrera, who batted .251/.340/.332 last season with the Dodgers, could see some playing time at second base with Mark Ellis on the DL.

Dodgers recalled INF/OF Elian Herrera from Triple-A Albuquerque.

He'll replace Jerry Hairston, Jr. (hip) on the active roster. Herrera is batting .243/.326/.331 with one home run, 16 RBI and a .658 OPS in 191 plate appearances with the Dodgers this season. He should see some playing time at third base over the next couple of weeks.

Dodgers optioned INF/OF Elian Herrera to Triple-A Albuquerque.

He was sent down as the Dodgers welcomed Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier back from the disabled list. Herrera is hitting .243 with one homer, 16 RBI, four stolen bases and a .658 OPS in 51 games this season. He should be back later this summer.

Elian Herrera hit his first major league homer and walked Thursday versus the Diamondbacks.

The homer came off All-Star Wade Miley. Herrera has really slowed down at the plate, but because of injuries, the Dodgers have kept him in the lineup. Tonight's homer gave him just his second RBI and fourth run scored since June 15.

Elian Herrera doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead the Dodgers to a 7-6 win over the White Sox on Friday.

The highly anticipated pitcher's duel never materialized tonight, as both Chris Sale and Clayton Kershaw ended up allowing five runs. The game was decided by the pens, and L.A.'s was a little better than Chicago's. Herrera's three RBI gave him 14 since his callup a month ago. He played left field tonight, making his first start at the position. He's started nine times at second base, 10 times at third and four times in center.

Elian Herrera delivered a clutch two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning, leading the Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over Cliff Lee and the Phillies on Tuesday.

Herrera fouled off a pair of tough two-strike pitches before coming through in a huge way for the Dodgers. He finished the night just 1-for-4, but it was easily the biggest hit of the game. He's hitting .304 in 69 at-bats since his promotion and has driven home nine runs. He looks to be cementing himself as the everyday third baseman and could be worth a look in deeper mixed leagues for those who need speed.

Elian Herrera went 2-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base as the Dodgers' leadoff man Thursday.

Instead of starting Tony Gwynn Jr., the Dodgers played Herrera in center field tonight. If he continues hitting, he figures to be a fixture in the lineup for as long as Matt Kemp is out and maybe beyond. Still, it's worth noting that he's already fanned 15 times in 15 games, suggesting that .314 average will come down.

Elian Herrera went 3-for-4 in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Cardinals.

He also scored two runs. And just like that, the 27-year-old is batting .385 in the five games since his first major league call-up.

Dodgers purchased the contract of INF-OF Elian Herrera from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Herrera was playing all over the field for Albuquerque, including third base, and he should receive a good amount of time there while Juan Uribe is on the disabled list. The 27-year-old was batting .358 with a .381 on-base percentage, nine stolen bases, and he stole at least 30 bases in each of the previous three seasons. He's worth a roster spot in NL-only leagues.

Elian Herrera will be called up by the Dodgers, according to Anthony Jackson of ESPN Los Angeles.

Herrera is batting .358 with a .381 on-base percentage, nine stolen bases and a 17-game hitting streak this year at Triple-A Albuquerque. Though he has been playing second base, he can handle short. A switch-hitting 27-year-old, Herrera has never even been invited to major league camp, so temper expectations. But he's immediately worth a flier in NL-only leagues if LA plans to give him at-bats.
