Brewers purchased the contract of INF/OF Elian Herrera from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Herrera will add versatility and depth to the Brewers bench in the wake of the Carlos Gomez trade. The 30-year-old hit just .212/.259/.374 in 99 at-bats with the Brewers earlier in the season.

Brewers designated INF Elian Herrera for assignment.

The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Hernan Perez. Herrera, 30, was batting .212 with four home runs and .633 OPS over 38 games this season and wasn't going to be a long-term piece for Milwaukee.
Jun 2 - 2:31 PM

Elian Herrera hit his fourth home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the White Sox.

Herrera took White Sox starter Chris Sale deep in the fifth inning for a solo shot. He's now homered in three straight games, an unexpected outburst after never hitting more than seven home runs in a single season in the minors. Even with the sudden power surge, the 30-year-old Herrera isn't much of a fantasy asset as things stand now.
May 12 - 11:34 PM

Elian Herrera went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBI Tuesday, but the Brewers fell to the Reds.

The loss certainly wasn't any fault of Herrera's. The 30-year-old knocked an RBI double in the third inning before launching a grand slam in the sixth. Herrera had just one homer in 140 major league games before Tuesday. He'll fill in for Scooter Gennett in the near term, but Herrera isn't much of an offensive force to be reckoned with, Tuesday notwithstanding.

Apr 21 - 1:07 PM

Brewers reassigned INF/OF Elian Herrera to minor league camp.

Herrera batted .378/.410/.541 in 23 games this spring, but it wasn't enough to win him a spot on the Brewers' bench. He'll be organizational depth this season.
Apr 2 - 12:34 PM

Elian Herrera went 1-for-2 and scored the Brewers lone run in Friday's Cactus League loss to a split-squad Dodgers team.

Hererra had one of just two total hits that the Brewers were able to scratch out in this one. In camp as a non-roster invitee, the versatile 30-year-old is looking to win a spot on the Brewers bench.

Feb 3 - 1:37 PM

Brewers designated INF/OF Elian Herrera for assignment.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Neal Cotts. Herrera batted .274/.288/.341 over 140 plate appearances for the Brew Crew last season while making appearances at six different positions. The 30-year-old can't really hit, but he could draw some interest on waivers due to his versatility.
Jan 30 - 11:03 AM

Elian Herrera had a big day on Sunday, going 5-for-5 with three runs scored in a win over the Cardinals.

Filling in for Jean Segura, Herrera had as many hits Sunday as he had in his previous 24 at-bats spanning back to mid-June. The career day raised his batting average from .232 to .276. When Segura returns from the Dominican Republic, where he's tending to some family issues, Herrera will likely find himself back at Triple-A.

Herrera spent most of May with the big league club, but was optioned out on June 3 when Aramis Ramirez returned from the disabled list. The utility man is hitting .226/.241/.264 on the season and is irrelevant in nearly all fantasy leagues.
