Blake Lalli delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off single as the Brewers beat the Giants on Wednesday.

Lalli's first hit of the season and only third of his career was a big one. With the outfield in, Lalli lifted a fly ball to deep left that eluded Gregor Blanco. The career minor leaguer isn't worth a second thought for fantasy purposes, but he got his 15 minutes of fame on Wednesday.

Brewers purchased the contract of 1B/C Blake Lalli from Triple-A Nashville.

He'll replace the injured Chris Narveson (finger) on the active roster and will give the Brewers some much needed help for their bench. The 29-year-old made his major league debut with the Cubs last season and appeared in six games. He's a .296/.356/.416 hitter in the minors and has experience at first base and behind the plate.
Apr 9 - 9:39 AM

Blake Lalli will be called up from Triple-A Nashville prior to Tuesday's game.

He'll take the roster spot of Chris Narveson, who was placed on the DL Monday. The Brewers will move Corey Hart to the 60-day DL to create room on the 40-man roster. Lalli will give the Brewers a third catcher, and he can also play the corner infield spots.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Monday that Blake Lalli is a candidate for the Opening Day roster.

Lalli, who is batting .387 with a home run and seven RBI this spring, would serve as the third catcher and would also be an option to see some starts at first base. "Maybe," Roenicke said of Lalli’s chances. "He’s impressing a lot of people. Not just with what he’s doing but this guy is really sharp. He’s going to call a great game if we have him behind the plate. He’s a really smart guy. And he gives you a nice at-bat."

Brewers signed C Blake Lalli to a minor league contract.

The agreement includes an invitation to spring training, but Lalli is doubtful to crack the Brewers' Opening Day roster. He batted just .256/.291/.396 in 340 plate appearances this past season at the Triple-A level.
