Twins activated RHP Cole De Vries from the 15-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
De Vries is over his forearm ailment, but the Twins aren't ready to add him to the rotation yet. However, with much of their starting five struggling, it might only be a matter of time before he gets a shot. May 19 - 8:27 AM

Cole De Vries (forearm) will make his second rehab start with Double-A New Britain on Friday.

De Vries allowed two runs -- one earned -- while giving up six hits over four innings in his first rehab outing on Sunday. "He came through all right," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said. "He got to about 50 pitches or so. So he'll pitch May 10 for New Britain at home and we'll see how he does. We'll stretch him out again." De Vries is expected to be stretched out 100 pitches before becoming an option for the Twins' rotation.
May 6 - 8:04 PM

Cole De Vries (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Fort Myers on Sunday.

De Vries hasn't had any issues with his forearm at extended spring training and is ready to test things out in an official game. He could be an option for the Twins' rotation before long.
May 5 - 12:28 PM

Cole De Vries (forearm) will make a start in extended spring training on Friday.

De Vries has been dealing with a forearm strain since late in spring training. Even if he avoids a setback, he needs to build up his stamina. He likely won't be available for the Twins until well into May.
Apr 25 - 7:58 PM

Cole De Vries (forearm) is taking the day off Monday after playing catch the past two days.

De Vries is currently sidelined with a right forearm strain. If all goes well, he'll throw off flat ground late this week and a light bullpen session early next week.
Apr 15 - 5:46 PM

Cole De Vries (forearm) is scheduled to play catch Saturday.

It will be his first time throwing since last Friday in Baltimore. De Vries will need to slowly build up his workload before going out on a minor league rehab assignment. The Twins may just keep him in Triple-A once he's back to full health.
Apr 12 - 5:35 PM

Twins placed RHP Cole De Vries on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with a right forearm strain.

It's not clear at this point how long the right-hander will be sidelined. With Scott Diamond slated to rejoin the rotation this week, De Vries might ultimately be bound for the minors. The Twins have recalled Pedro Hernandez from Triple-A Rochester to start in De Vries' place on Sunday.
Apr 7 - 9:25 AM

Cole De Vries (forearm) will not make his scheduled start Sunday.

De Vries has been dealing with a forearm issue over the past week or so. He'll require a backdated stint on the disabled list. It's not clear yet who will fill in for him on Sunday against the Orioles.
Apr 5 - 2:22 PM

Cole De Vries (forearm) threw a bullpen session Wednesday which Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said "just went OK."

De Vries has been dealing with a forearm issue over the past week or so, but the Twins are hopeful that he'll be able to start Sunday against the Orioles. It will likely be a one-start deal, as Scott Diamond (elbow) is expected to make his season debut on April 12.
Apr 3 - 1:10 PM

Cole De Vries complained of forearm tightness and left his start Friday against Boston after throwing three scoreless innings.

De Vries was being penciled into the rotation with Scott Diamond and Samuel Deduno injured. If he joins Diamond on the disabled list, the Twins might need to bring up P.J. Walters to make a spot start next week. Fortunately, Diamond is due back on April 12.
Mar 29 - 4:59 PM

Cole De Vries pitched four hitless innings out of the pen against the Yankees on Thursday.

The Twins are likely going with Sam Deduno as their fifth starter, so unless they want to send Kevin Correia to the pen already (not gonna happen), there's no room for De Vries in the rotation. He could make the team as a middle reliever or pitch out of the Triple-A rotation.
Mar 22 - 12:20 AM

Cole De Vries allowed one run in three innings Saturday in the Twins' 2-1 victory over the Pirates.

Despite his absence from camp, Samuel Deduno has taken over as the favorite to become the Twins' fifth starter based on his showing for the Dominican Republic in the WBC. De Vries still could make the team as a reliever. He's allowed just one run in 10 innings this spring.
Mar 16 - 4:43 PM

Cole De Vries was perfect for two innings in his start versus the Cardinals on Monday.

De Vries was 5-5 with a 4.11 ERA in 16 starts and one relief appearance for the Twins last season before missing the final three weeks with a broken rib. He's in the mix for the fifth spot in the rotation this spring, but there's very little fantasy upside here.
Mar 4 - 4:02 PM

Twins placed RHP Cole De Vries on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to September 9, with a cracked rib.

De Vries was already ruled out for the season, so this is just a procedural move. The Twins are transitioning to a five-man rotation for the remainder of the year.

Cole De Vries was diagnosed with a cracked rib and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

It's not clear when the injury occurred, but he was sent for an MRI on Thursday. The Twins haven't announced a replacement for his scheduled start on Sunday. Barring a quick recovery, De Vries will likely end his season with a 4.11 ERA and 58/18 K/BB ratio over 87 2/3 innings.
