Date:

Left-hander Rob Rasmussen was traded from the Blue Jays to the Mariners in a four-player deal.

Rasmussen has pitched really well as a Triple-A reliever these last two years, but the Jays never thought he was any sort of solution to their bullpen woes. He pitched 11 1/3 innings in the majors last year, with a 3.18 ERA, and just one inning this year, throwing a scoreless frame in June. He'll probably get more of a chance in Seattle, but he's a fringy talent.

Blue Jays optioned LHP Rob Rasmussen to Triple-A Buffalo.

Rasmussen became the odd-man out with the Jays needing a roster spot for Matt Boyd who will be recalled to start on Saturday. Rasmussen appeared in just one game in his time with the Jays, working a scoreless inning of relief on Friday.

Blue Jays optioned LHP Rob Rasmussen to Short-Season Bluefield.

The affiliate is irrelevant at this point, as Rasmussen will eventually go to Triple-A. The left-hander made 10 appearances with the big club last season but was unable to impress this spring, allowing three runs in his two outings.
