Sam Dyson notched his second save in four days Wednesday against the Astros.
Shawn Tolleson was rested tonight after pitching six of the previous seven days, so Dyson was the choice to close. It's surprising the Rangers so quickly identified him as their second best reliever, but he should live up to it. Aug 6 - 12:38 AM

Rangers acquired RHP Sam Dyson from the Marlins in exchange for C Tomas Telis and LHP Cody Ege.

Dyson holds a 3.68 ERA with 41 strikeouts over 44 innings this season. He'll be used in the middle innings.

Sam Dyson was tagged for six runs in an inning by the Tigers on Wednesday.

Ouch. Dyson was a strong piece in the Marlins pen after getting called up last June, amassing a 2.14 ERA in 42 innings, but he wasn't promised a gig this spring. It did help his case that Carter Capps was sent down, and he entered today with a 3.00 ERA and a 5/1 K/BB ratio in six innings, so it's just the one bad game. Whether there's room for him in the pen could hinge on the Marlins trading Brad Hand.

Marlins recalled RHP Sam Dyson from Triple-A New Orleans.

The 26-year-old has been pitching well for New Orleans, posting a 2.49 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 20/10 K/BB ratio over 25 1/3 innings. He will function in middle relief.

Marlins optioned RHP Sam Dyson to Triple-A New Orleans.

It's his reward for going 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up his first major league win Tuesday. Dyson should get another shot later this season.

Marlins recalled RHP Sam Dyson from Triple-A New Orleans.

Dyson has put up a 2.66 ERA in 10 relief appearances for New Orleans this season. He'll likely only be up for a couple days while Nathan Eovaldi is on paternity leave.

Making his first major league start, Sam Dyson was torched for seven runs in 2 2/3 innings by the Phillies on Monday.

Dyson, a 2009 10th-round pick, had previously made two relief appearances for the Blue Jays last year and three for the Marlins over the past few weeks. If he has a future in the majors, it will probably be in the pen.

Marlins recalled RHP Sam Dyson from Triple-A New Orleans.

Dyson has posted a 2.67 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 62/36 K/BB ratio in 111 1/3 innings this season in the Marlins' minor league system. He is not fantasy-relevant.

Marlins claimed RHP Sam Dyson off waivers from the Blue Jays.

Dyson was designated for assignment last week after posting a 3.04 ERA and 38/20 K/BB ratio over 74 innings last season between High-A and Double-A. The sinkerballer could turn out to be a useful middle reliever.

The move clears a spot for the newly-signed Mark DeRosa on the active roster. Dyson made two appearances with the Blue Jays last season and posted a 3.04 ERA and 38/20 K/BB ratio between High-A and Double-A. He could draw interest on waivers.

Dyson posted a 3.09 ERA between High- and Double-A this season and also had a cup of coffee in the majors. He'll be in the mix for a bullpen job next spring.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Sam Dyson from Double-A New Hampshire.

Dyson has registered a stellar 0.75 WHIP in 24 innings this season at the Double-A level. He doesn't quite have swing-and-miss stuff, but the 24-year-old right-hander should do fine a middle relief role for Toronto.
