Sam Dyson suffered a sprained right wrist in a fall on Friday.

Dyson suffered the injury during a PFP (pitchers fielding practice) drill. He was able to pitch on Saturday, but he'll be limited to playing catch on Tuesday. An MRI came back negative and Rangers manager Jeff Banister said that all signs point to the injury being minor, but suddenly his status for the upcoming World Baseball Classic is in question.

Sam Dyson will pitch for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

He'll join the likes of Andrew Miller, Luke Gregerson, and Mychal Givens in the back-end of Team USA's bullpen. Dyson owns a 2.45 ERA in 179 appearances over the past three seasons. He saved 38 games for the Rangers in 2016.

Rangers and RHP Sam Dyson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.52 million contract.

It's a large bump in pay for the closer in his first year of arbitration eligibility. Dyson posted a 2.43 ERA while saving 38 games for the Rangers in 2016 and will man the ninth inning again in 2017.

Sam Dyson walked two batters to bring the winning run to the plate in the ninth inning Tuesday, but he escaped to preserve a win over the Brewers.

Dyson issued two-out walks to Scooter Gennett and Chris Carter to give Domingo Santana a chance to ruin the fun, but Dyson struck out Santana to end the threat. The save was his 37th of the season. Through 72 games, the 28-year-old has a 2.47 ERA and 1.24 WHIP at the back end of the Rangers' bullpen.

Sam Dyson allowed a hit but nothing more against the Angels on Tuesday, closing out the win to earn his 35th save.

Dyson yielded a leadoff single in a one-run game, but a subsequent double play quickly erased any hope of a rally from the Angels. He then punched out Rafael Ortega to end the contest. The 28-year-old had a hiccup against the Astros last week but has been otherwise solid recently, and he's got a 2.54 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 67 1/3 innings overall. His 35 saves are third-most in the American League.

Sam Dyson took his fifth blown save after giving up a solo homer to Evan Gattis in the ninth inning Monday.

The Rangers still won by one run anyway, because that's just what they do. The Rangers have prevailed in all three of Dyson's blown saves since the beginning of July, so his job is surely secure.

Sam Dyson gave up a leadoff single in the ninth inning but rebounded against the meat of the Angels lineup to toss a scoreless inning for a save.

Yunel Escobar singled to open the inning. Dyson then enticed a groundout from Kole Calhoun, whiffed Mike Trout and grounded-out Albert Pujols. Dyson now has a 2.56 ERA with 34 saves since taking over the closer's role early in the season. His strikeout rate leaves a little to be desired but he gets the job done by keeping the ball in the ballpark with a very high ground ball rate.

Sam Dyson retired the side in order Friday against the Astros for his 31st save of the season.

Dyson notched one strikeout in the frame and needed just nine pitches to lock down the win. The 28-year-old hit a bit of a rough patch through mid-August, but he has bounced back with four straight scoreless appearances in his last four save chances. He has a 2.69 ERA and 46/19 K/BB ratio over 60 1/3 innings.

Sam Dyson struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to record his 30th save of the season in Monday's win over the Mariners.

Dyson faced little resistance in protecting a three-run lead, getting a pair of swinging strikeouts and a groundout. The closer has been a little shaky in August but was recently given a vote of confidence by manager Jeff Banister.

Sam Dyson pitched into danger but earned his 29th save Sunday versus the Indians.

Dyson gave up a leadoff single to Francisco Lindor in the top of the ninth inning and then issues back-to-back one-out walks to Carlos Santana and Jose Ramirez, but he rallied to strike out Tyler Naquin and then got Abraham Almonte to fly out to end it. Dyson has struggled lately, but his job seems safe for now.

Sam Dyson tossed a spotless ninth inning to protect a one-run lead and earn his 28th save of the season on Wednesday.

He induced three consecutive ground-outs and got through the inning on only eight pitches. He is not a big strikeout guy but he has been effective at keeping the ball on the ground this year. He has a 2.83 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings.

Sam Dyson notched a scoreless inning Monday against the Athletics to earn his 27th save of the season.

Danny Valencia reached on an infield single to lead off the ninth inning, but Dyson quickly erased him with a double play ball. He then got another groundout to close out the three-run win. Dyson's strikeouts have really plummeted of late -- he's whiffed just two batters over his last 12 appearances -- but he's been getting the job done.

Sam Dyson nailed down his 25th save of the season Tuesday in the Rangers' 7-5 win over the Rockies.

Dyson yielded a one-out double to DJ LeMahieu and a two-out walk to Nolan Arenado, but he induced a game-ending groundout from Gerardo Parra to finish off a two-game sweep for the visiting Rangers. The teams will now play a pair of games in Arlington. Dyson has struggled a bit lately but still has a pretty firm hold on Texas' ninth-inning gig. He owns a 2.58 ERA for the year.

Sam Dyson blew his third save of the season Sunday versus the Astros.

Texas did rally to win the game in extras, with the win going to Matt Bush. Dyson walked A.J. Reed, gave up a sacrifice bunt to Jake Marisnick, and then watched Tony Kemp tie the game at 3-3 with an RBI single to center field. Dyson has struggled now in back-to-back outings, though his job appears safe for now. Jeremy Jeffress is probably next in line, just to make note.
