Blue Jays recalled LHP Aaron Loup from Triple-A Buffalo.
Loup's peripherals are very impressive this season, with 40 strikeouts and just six walks over 36 1/3 innings, but he has struggled to the tune of a 5.20 ERA in 48 appearances. He'll hope for better results in his return to the big club. Sep 1 - 12:16 PM

Blue Jays optioned LHP Aaron Loup to Triple-A Buffalo.

The 27-year-old southpaw has struggled out of the Blue Jays bullpen this season, registering a 5.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 40/6 K/BB ratio over 36 1/3 innings. He'll assuredly be back with the big league club in September, if not sooner.

Aaron Loup retired the only batter he faced to record his second save in as many days in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Loup got a save Saturday because Casey Janssen was sick. He got one Sunday because he bailed Janssen out of trouble after the closer allowed a run on three hits before exiting with two men on. Loup induced a game-ending pop-up by former Jay J.P. Arencibia to seal the win. Janssen obviously has plenty of job security, but Loup is looking like one of the next men in line when the situation dictates it.

Aaron Loup tossed a scoreless ninth inning Saturday against the Rangers for his third save of the season.

Casey Janssen was unavailable after he lost seven-plus pounds during the All-Star break, which he believes he caught via a virus or food poisoning while vacationing in the Dominican Republic. He might need another day or two to get his strength back, so Loup isn't a bad short-term option if you are desperate for saves in fantasy leagues.

Aaron Loup recorded the final two outs of the tenth inning, earning his second save of the season as the Blue Jays defeated the Phillies 6-5 on Tuesday.

The Jays removed the struggling Sergio Santos from the closer's role recently and the lefty Loup got the save chance on Tuesday, retiring the left-handed Chase Utley and Ryan Howard for his fourth career save. Loup has not exactly been reliable, as he owns a 13/9 K/BB ratio in 16 innings, but he figures to get at least some of the upcoming save opportunities for the Jays until Casey Janssen returns following an oblique injury.

Aaron Loup will serve as the Blue Jays' closer on Saturday night against the Pirates.

Sergio Santos was removed from the role after blowing his third save of the season on Friday night. Loup, 26, owns an impressive 2.62 career ERA and 1.04 career WHIP. He has the goods to hold down the job until Casey Janssen (oblique) returns from the disabled list.

Blue Jays activated LHP Aaron Loup from paternity leave.

Loup only missed two games. He has posted a cool 2.47 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 62 innings of relief this season.

Blue Jays placed LHP Aaron Loup on the paternity list.

Loup will miss 1-3 games while on paternity leave. The 25-year old has a 2.47 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 53 appearances this season.

After Casey Janssen pitched a scoreless 10th in a tie game, Aaron Loup earned a save with a perfect 11th inning Sunday against the Padres.

Janssen notched the win after the Jays went ahead in the top of the 11th. Loup now has two saves this year, though that doesn't necessarily make him the fallback to Janssen in the Toronto pen. Steve Delabar would likely be the better bet for saves.

Aaron Loup has been a bright spot in Toronto's bullpen, tallying a 2.55 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 24 2/3 innings.

Over the past two years, he's given the Jays a 2.60 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 55 1/3 innings. Toronto doesn't trust him much in high-leverage situations, however, which is why he only has four holds in 2013 and 10 in his career.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of LHP Aaron Loup from Double-A New Hampshire.

He'll take the place of the injured Luis Perez (elbow) on the active roster. Loup, 24, has a 2.78 ERA and 43/14 K/BB ratio 45 1/3 innings this season at the Double-A level. He'll pitch in middle relief.
