Blue Jays recalled LHP Aaron Loup from Triple-A Buffalo.

Loup was sent down to Triple-A in mid-June after struggling in his return from the disabled list. He'll provide depth from the left side in a very depleted Blue Jays bullpen.
Jul 2 - 10:22 AM

Blue Jays optioned LHP Aaron Loup to Triple-A Buffalo.

Scott Diamond was also optioned to the minors, with corresponding roster moves to be announced on Wednesday. Loup just returned from the disabled list in late May and has allowed four runs on four hits (including two home runs) over four innings of work.
Jun 14 - 3:50 PM

Blue Jays activated LHP Aaron Loup from the 15-day disabled list.

Loup has looked strong on his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo and is ready to return to a setup role in the Blue Jays bullpen. He has missed the entire season to date due to a flexor strain in his pitching elbow.
May 28 - 11:48 AM

Aaron Loup (elbow) threw another scoreless inning Tuesday night at Triple-A Buffalo.

Loup got roughed up in his rehab debut May 14 at High-A Dunedin, but he's made four scoreless appearances since with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. The left-hander should be cleared to join Toronto's bullpen this weekend. He's been out all year because of a flexor strain in his pitching elbow.
May 25 - 9:06 AM

Aaron Loup (elbow) pitched a scoreless eighth inning in his rehab debut with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Loup worked around a double by inducing three groundouts. The left-hander has been out all season due to a flexor strain in his throwing elbow. He should be an option for the Toronto bullpen by the end of this week.
May 23 - 10:02 AM

Aaron Loup (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Loup had been working at High-A Dunedin, so the move to the higher level of competition is a good sign toward an impending return. The southpaw has been sidelined the entire season to date due to a flexor strain in his pitching elbow.
May 21 - 12:07 PM

Aaron Loup (elbow) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Saturday with High-A Dunedin.

Loup pitched in an extended spring training game Wednesday and felt fine. If he wakes up Thursday with no issues, it'll be off and running with the rehab stint. The left-hander has been out all year with a flexor strain.
May 11 - 1:56 PM

Per Blue Jays trainer George Poulis, Aaron Loup (elbow) is expected to throw a bullpen session on Monday.

Poulis said that Loup is doing "great" in his rehab. A flexor strain in the southpaw's pitching elbow sidelined him through the entirety of spring training and has likewise kept him off the mound during the first month of the 2016 campaign. While a return in May is possible, the Blue Jays are taking it slow and steady with Loup.
Apr 27 - 5:38 PM

Aaron Loup (elbow) played catch at a distance of 90 feet Sunday without issue.

Baby steps for the injured left-hander. "It’s just a matter of building him back up," head trainer George Poulis said Sunday. "No timeline on him either but hopefully he progresses normally without any setbacks."

Apr 18 - 8:38 AM

Aaron Loup (elbow) is currently playing catch on flat ground.

However, he's not close to a return so it's unclear when he'll be ready for mound work. Loup is nursing a flexor strain in his pitching elbow.
Apr 10 - 12:43 PM

Blue Jays placed LHP Aaron Loup on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25, with a sore left elbow.

Loup didn't make an appearance this spring due to a flexor strain in his left elbow. He felt more pain after attempting to throw recently, so he received a cortisone shot and it's unclear when he'll get back on the mound. The Blue Jays will be without him for the early part of the season at the very least.
Apr 3 - 6:55 PM

Aaron Loup recently had another setback with his ailing left elbow.

Loup was shut down for two weeks with a flexor strain and then felt pain in another spot in his elbow when he tried to resume throwing. The good news is that he feels fine now after receiving a cortisone shot and will resume a throwing program again on Saturday. Doctors have told the lefty that he likely has an impingement in the elbow. Loup will obviously begin the season on the disabled list.
Apr 1 - 10:11 AM

An MRI on Aaron Loup's left elbow has revealed a flexor strain.

He'll be shut down for two weeks before being re-evaluated. Loup is still holding out hope of being ready for Opening Day, but Blue Jays manager John Gibbons admitted that it would be "real tough." The southpaw will be missed, as he boasts a career 3.11 ERA and has held left-handed hitters to a .206/.272/.283 batting line.
Mar 4 - 9:20 AM

Aaron Loup (forearm) resumed throwing on Thursday but "didn't feel real good," according to manager John Gibbons.

Well, that's not good. Loup has struggled with forearm tightness throughout spring training and it sounds like he may have made things worse on Thursday. The Blue Jays are obviously going to shut Loup down for a while. He could be headed for an MRI.
