Hiram Burgos lost to the Pirates after allowing three runs in five innings on Thursday.
Burgos pitched pretty well in his first three starts last month, but he gave up 11 runs to the Reds on Saturday and he was pretty mediocre tonight. His next start is slated to come against the Dodgers on Tuesday, but it's possible he won't be in the rotation by then. May 16 - 10:26 PM

Date:

Hiram Burgos was destroyed for 12 runs -- 10 earned -- over three innings Saturday in a loss to the Reds.

It's hard to imagine a spot start going any worse. Burgos yielded 11 hits and three walks to the 24 batters he faced. He now has a brutal 6.86 ERA on the season.
May 11 - 7:35 PM

Hiram Burgos will start Saturday against the Reds.

He'll make the start on nine days of rest, as the Brewers recently skipped him in the rotation due to two scheduled off-days this week. Marco Estrada will have his next start pushed back to Monday against the Pirates.
May 10 - 4:57 PM

Hiram Burgos will pitch out of the bullpen for the time being.

The Brewers have off-days coming up on Monday and Thursday, so Burgos will be skipped in the rotation. It's not clear when he'll make his next start. The 25-year-old has a 3.00 ERA and 10/3 K/BB ratio in 18 innings over his first three starts in the majors.
May 3 - 6:07 PM

Hiram Burgos pitched seven innings of two-run ball against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Burgos, who struck out six, left with a two-run lead, but that only lasted two batters before evaporating. Burgos has a 3.00 ERA in three starts for the Brewers, but he's also given up three homers in 18 innings. The Rangers may add to that total when they face him next week.
May 1 - 4:39 PM

Hiram Burgos yielded three runs in six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Dodgers.

Burgos allowed four hits and walked two, so his WHIP stayed right at 1.00 after two starts. He's a fringy play in NL-only leagues with the Cardinals next on the slate.
Apr 27 - 1:40 AM

Hiram Burgos held the Cubs to one earned run over five innings Saturday in the Brewers' 5-1 win.

It was the 25-year-old right-hander's major league debut and he looked pretty sharp against a light-hitting Cubs lineup. Burgos scattered five hits and allowed no walks, fanning one batter. He has really good minor league numbers and may be worth a flier in deep mixed leagues if the Brewers keep giving him starts.
Apr 20 - 10:37 PM

Brewers prospect Hiram Burgos will be called up from Triple-A Nashville to start Saturday against the Cubs.

It will be his major league debut. Burgos, 25, posted a 1.95 ERA and 153/49 K/BB ratio in 171 innings last season between three different levels in the minors last season. He doesn't throw hard, but gets by with good command and his ability to throw strikes. Those in NL-only leagues should give him a shot.
Apr 18 - 5:15 PM

Brewers optioned RHP Hiram Burgos to Triple-A Nashville.

Burgos had a dominant 1.95 ERA and 153/49 K/BB ratio over 171 innings between three different levels of the minors this past season, but the Brewers will look to get him more seasoning against advanced competition. The 25-year-old right-hander should make his major league debut in 2013.
Mar 16 - 2:10 PM

Brewers purchased the contract of RHP Hiram Burgos from Triple-A Nashville.

An expected move. Burgos had a fantastic 1.95 ERA and 153/49 K/BB ratio over 171 innings this season between High-A Brevard County, Double-A Huntsville and Triple-A Nashville. The 25-year-old right-hander could be in line to make his major league debut in 2013.

The Brewers are expected to purchase the contract of right-hander Hiram Burgos from Triple-A Nashville.

This is largely a procedural move. Burgos, Scooter Gennett, and Josh Prince will be added to the Brewers' 40-man roster in advance of the Rule 5 Draft. None are likely to make their MLB debuts next season.
