Brewers reassigned RHP Hiram Burgos to minor league camp.

The right-hander had a chance to earn a spot in the Opening Day bullpen with a strong spring, but instead registered a 17.36 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and 3/1 K/BB ratio in 4 2/3 innings. He'll serve as bullpen depth at Triple-A to start the season.

Hiram Burgos started and fired a pair of scoreless innings as the Brewers shut out the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in their exhibition opener on Friday.

Burgos didn't allow a base-runner and fanned one on the afternoon. He hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2013 season and is in camp as rotation depth. He's unlikely to be relevant in even the deepest of fantasy leagues this season.

Brewers re-signed RHP Hiram Burgos to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Burgos posted a 4.40 ERA in 143 1/3 innings this past summer with the Brewers' Triple-A team. He will probably be shifted back onto that Colorado Springs roster sometime in March. Burgos, 29, hasn't made an appearance in a major league game since the 2013 season.

Brewers re-assigned RHPs Hiram Burgos and Daniel Tillman and C Adam Weisenburger to minor league camp.

Burgos was a longshot to earn a spot in the Opening Day bullpen while Tillman and Weisenburger weren't expected to head north with the big league club. They'll all provide organizational depth for the Brewers in 2016.

Brewers re-signed RHP Hiram Burgos to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Burgos hasn't appeared in the majors since 2013, having put up a 3.62 ERA over 27 starts in the minors for Milwaukee in 2015.

Brewers re-signed RHP Hiram Burgos to a minor league contract.

He should be invited to spring training. The Brewers released Burgos last September, but the righty has opted to return. He held a 6.50 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 18 innings at Triple-A last season after returning from shoulder surgery.

Brewers released RHP Hiram Burgos.

The move clears a spot on the Brewers' 40-man roster. Burgos has been limited to just 13 appearances in the minors over the past two seasons due to shoulder issues.

Hiram Burgos underwent a cleanup procedure on his right shoulder on Thursday afternoon.

The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews. The Brewers have not announced a recovery timetable for Burgos, who had a rough 6.50 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 18 innings (four starts) this season at Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers optioned RHP Hiram Burgos to Triple-A Nashville.

The 26-year-old hurler started six games for the Brewers in 2013, posting a 6.44 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 18/11 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings. He'll be an option anytime the Brewers need a spot starter, but holds little in the way of fantasy value.

Hiram Burgos had to leave Monday's start at Triple-A Nashville with right shoulder discomfort.

It's presumably an aggravation of an injury from earlier this season. There's no word on how long Burgos will be out, but obviously he's not an option for the Brewers for a while.

Brewers activated RHP Hiram Burgos from the 15-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.

Burgos has tossed six scoreless innings over his last two rehab appearances, but the Brewers have decided to keep him in the Triple-A rotation for now. He could get another shot if Johnny Hellweg struggles.

Hiram Burgos (shoulder) allowed two runs in four innings for High-A Brevard County on Tuesday in his second minor league rehab start.

Burgos, who is working his way back from a right shoulder impingement, struck out four and walked none. It's not clear if he'll require another rehab start. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.44 ERA and 18/11 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings over six starts this season.

Hiram Burgos (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Low-A Wisconsin.

Burgos was originally scheduled to make the start on Monday but felt renewed soreness in his right shoulder. He's been out since May 22 with a shoulder impingement but is on track to return in a couple of weeks.
Wed, Jun 12, 2013 04:38:00 PM

Hiram Burgos' scheduled rehab start Monday has been pushed back due to stiffness in his right shoulder.

The Brewers are hoping it's only a minor setback. "He's playing catch today and is supposed to have a bullpen tomorrow, then we will re-evaluate," manager Ron Roenicke said Monday. "Hopefully, he is good and we can get him pitching in games."
