White Sox purchased the contract of C Rob Brantly from Triple-A Charlotte.
The 28-year-old backstop has excelled at Triple-A this season, slashing .290/.350/.442 with 10 homers and 45 RBI in 82 games between Triple-A Louisville and Triple-A Charlotte. He isn't likely to see enough playing time to be relevant for fantasy purposes. Aug 26 - 2:20 PM

White Sox signed C Rob Brantly to a minor league contract.

He'll report to Triple-A Charlotte. Brantly was released by Cincinnati earlier this week despite hitting a respectable .298 over 168 at-bats for Triple-A Louisville. This is Brantly's second stint with the White Sox after batting .121 in 14 games for the Pale Hose in 2015.

Reds signed C Rob Brantly to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Brantly spent all of last season at Triple-A in the Mariners organization, batting .244/.268/.432 with 14 homers. He's merely a depth guy.

Mariners sent C Rob Brantly outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Brantley was designated for assignment by Seattle at the end of spring training. He passed through waivers unclaimed and could have elected to become a free agent, but the 26-year-old catcher has decided to remain in the Mariners' organization as Triple-A depth. Brantly, a third-round pick of the Marlins in 2010, owns a .225/.286/.317 batting line in 112 career major league games.

Mariners designated C Rob Brantly for assignment; re-assigned RHPs Donn Roach and Blake Parker, OF Daniel Robertson and 1B Efren Navarro to minor league camp.

Brantly showed well after being claimed off waivers last month, but ultimately he wasn't able to beat out Steve Clevenger. He could get scooped up on waivers again.

Rob Brantly is pushing Steve Clevenger for the Mariners' backup catcher job.

Claimed off waivers earlier this month, Brantly has picked up five hits in 14 at-bats since arriving with the Mariners. "Clevenger missed some time, being sick for a while," manager Scott Servais said, "and Brantly took advantage of some playing time. Brantly has swung the bat very well. I’ve also been very pleased with the progress that Clevenger has made defensively." Both Brantly and Clevenger are out of options, but it's possible the M's could carry both players since Clevenger is also capable of playing first and third base.

Mariners claimed C Rob Brantly off waivers from the White Sox.

Brantly was the odd-man out in Chicago after the signing of Alex Avila over the winter. Once a top prospect in the Marlins organization, he'll look to compete for a reserve role with the M's.

Rob Brantly is rehabbing from surgery to remove part of the meniscus from his left knee.

He should be fine for spring training. The 26-year-old Brantly spent most of the year in the minors and appeared in 14 games with the White Sox down the stretch.

Rob Brantly hit his first home run of the season in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

Brantly, appearing in just his third game this season, took Indians starter Carlos Carrasco deep for a three-run shot in the second inning. It is his only hit in seven at-bats thus far after an avulsion fracture in his left thumb kept him out for much of the early part of the season.

White Sox recalled C Rob Brantly from Double-A Birmingham.

Brantly missed an early portion of the season with an avulsion fracture in his left thumb before the White Sox shuttled him off to work in the minors. While he's hit .310/.335/.483 working between Double and Triple-A this season, he hasn't seen major league action since 2013. In that campaign, he hit just .211/.263/.265 with the Marlins.

White Sox optioned C Rob Brantly to Triple-A Charlotte.

Brantly was claimed off waivers from the Marlins over the winter, but hit just .167 (3-for-18) this spring and failed to secure the backup catcher job. Still, the 25-year-old is useful catching depth to have in the organization.

It wasn't too long ago that Brantly was considered the catcher of the future for the Marlins, but he played exclusively at the Triple-A level this past season. The 25-year-old appeared in 98 games with the Marlins from 2012-2013 and batted .235/.298/.325 with four home runs and 26 RBI.
