Marlins optioned LHP Brian Flynn to Triple-A New Orleans.
It ends up being just a one-day stay with the Marlins for Flynn, who was pressed into emergency duty and hurled three innings in Friday's game. He'll be swapped out for a fresh arm, but should get another opportunity with the big league club at some point this season. Jun 27 - 11:36 PM

Marlins recalled LHP Brian Flynn from Triple-A New Orleans.

Flynn has posted a 3.56 ERA over 16 starts at New Orleans this season. He'll be used in long relief by the Marlins.

Marlins optioned LHP Brian Flynn, RHP Sam Dyson and C Rob Brantly to Triple-A New Orleans and LHP Edgar Olmos to Double-A Jacksonville.

Flynn was competing for the fifth starter job but didn't fare terribly well with a 5.40 ERA over 10 innings. There's no longer room for Brantly on the roster with Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jeff Mathis handling the catching duties.
Mar 17 - 12:28 PM

Brian Flynn blanked the Red Sox for three innings, allowing just one hit, on Tuesday.

It was a split-squad, but Flynn was facing the good one, making this an especially nice outing for him. He's still a long shot in the Marlins' fifth starter competition, though. Tom Koehler is more experienced, Andrew Heaney is more talented and Brad Hand has the advantage of being out of options. It's hard to imagine Flynn being picked over all three of them.
Mar 11 - 4:23 PM

Brian Flynn, Tom Koehler and Brad Hand are among the candidates for the Marlins' fifth starter spot, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

The Marlins' president of baseball operations Michael Hill mentioned those three names as guys who will be given a chance to win a rotation spot this spring. Top prospects Andrew Heaney and Justin Nicolino were also noted as guys who will pitch some innings this spring, but Hill said both are likely to start the season in the minors. The 23-year-old Flynn struggled in a September stint with the club last season, but the imposing lefty posted a 2.63 ERA and 147/43 K/BB ratio over 161 innings between Double-A and Triple-A before the promotion.
Feb 12 - 6:35 PM

Brian Flynn pitched decently in Sunday’s no-decision against the Nationals, surrendering two runs on four hits over his four innings of work.

Flynn racked up five strikeouts while walking three on the night. The 23-year-old southpaw who came to the Marlins in last season’s trade that sent Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers, has struggled in his brief audition with the Marlins, posting a 8.50 ERA, 2.22 WHIP and 15/13 K/BB ratio over 18 innings. He’s unlikely to make another start for the Fish this season.

Brian Flynn was lit up for six runs on 11 hits and a walk over six frames in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.

He gave up a three spot in the third and yielded another three runs on a three-run blast to Chase Utley in the fifth. Over his first 14 major league innings, Flynn has allowed 13 runs and 23 hits. He had a nice year in the minors, but it's clear he's not ready to be trusted at the big league level yet. Flynn gets the Nats on the road this weekend.

Brian Flynn was hammered for six earned runs in a four-inning start Thursday against the Braves.

Flynn also struggled last Wednesday against the Cubs and seems doubtful to get another turn in the Marlins' rotation. The 23-year-old left-hander has a 10.13 ERA and 2.63 WHIP in eight innings this season with the Fish.

Brian Flynn is making another spot start Thursday.

He's filling in for Nathan Eovaldi, who was scratched due to back tightness. Flynn allowed three runs in four innings last Wednesday against the Cubs and is not a recommended fantasy streamer Thursday vs. Atlanta.

Brian Flynn yielded three runs in four innings Wednesday in his major league debut against the Cubs.

Flynn allowed two homers among his six hits and walked three, so he was pretty lucky to end the day with a 6.75 ERA. Even if he makes more spot starts down the stretch, he won't be worth playing in NL-only leagues.

Marlins purchased the contract of LHP Brian Flynn from Triple-A New Orleans.

Flynn will start Wednesday against the Cubs for his major league debut. The 23-year-old left-hander was one of the players acquired in the Anibal Sanchez trade last season and posted a 2.80 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 138 innings at the Triple-A level. The Marlins designated Jordan Brown for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

The Marlins will call up left-handers Brian Flynn and Brad Hand, right-hander Arquimedes Caminero and catcher Rob Brantly on Tuesday.

They'll join the Marlins now that Triple-A New Orleans has completed their season. Flynn is expected to start against the Cubs on Wednesday for his major league debut.

The Marlins will call up Brian Flynn to start Wednesday against the Cubs.

Flynn was one of the players acquired in the Anibal Sanchez trade last year and has a 2.80 ERA in 23 starts at Triple-A New Orleans. The 23-year-old left-hander will be making his MLB debut. Jose Fernandez was in line to start Wednesday, but the Marlins decided to push him back to Friday.

Marlins acquired LHP Brian Flynn from the Tigers.

Flynn is a mammoth 6-foot-8 left-hander but doesn't have much upside, as evidenced by his career 3.76 ERA and 7.4 K/9 rate since being drafted last June by the Tigers. He's made just one start above A-ball and isn't close to being a contributor at the big league level.
