Tuffy Gosewisch has been sidelined the last couple days with a calf injury.

"It’s not playable right now, but I think it’ll just be a couple of days until I’m back on the field," Gosewisch said Saturday. "I made a lot of progress (Friday). (Friday) felt OK, (Saturday) felt really good. I think I should be running (Sunday) and hopefully doing baseball stuff soon after that." Gosewisch is competing for the backup catcher job this spring.

Gosewisch will serve as emergency catching depth for the D'Backs over the final month of the regular season.

Diamondbacks optioned C Tuffy Gosewisch to Triple-A Reno.

Gosewisch hit .185/.179/.185 over eight games while providing catcher depth with Miguel Montero out. Now that Montero's back, he's no longer needed. He should return as the third catcher next month, though.

Diamondbacks signed C Tuffy Gosewisch to a minor league contract.

He'll receive a spring training invite but has very little shot of cracking the Opening Day roster. Gosewisch batted just .216/.278/.345 at the Triple-A level this season.

Blue Jays acquired C Tuffy Gosewisch from the Phillies for cash considerations.

It's an organizational depth move with all the injuries to catchers in the Jays' farm system. Gosewisch, 28, is a .232/.301/.358 career hitter in the minor leagues.
