Mariners recalled OF Stefen Romero from Triple-A Tacoma.

The 27-year-old outfielder has crushed the ball at Triple-A but struggled in his limited time with the M's this season, slashing a mere .200/.188/.267 in 16 plate appearances. He'll work in a reserve outfielder role, limiting any potential fantasy value.

Mariners optioned OF Stefen Romero to Triple-A Tacoma.

Romero was with the big club for a little over a week and batted .200 (3-for-15) with a double and two RBI. He'll head back to the minors now that Ketel Marte is back from the disabled list.

Mariners recalled OF Stefen Romero from Triple-A Tacoma.

Romero will take the place of the injured Leonys Martin on the Mariners roster. The 27-year-old outfielder was hitting .358/.417/.601 with seven homers and 34 RBI in 39 games at Triple-A. He could be interesting in AL-only leagues, but is unlikely to see enough playing time to be relevant in mixed leagues.

Mariners optioned OF Stefen Romero to Triple-A Tacoma.

Romero had a nice spring, but he was always a longshot for a spot in the Mariners' outfield mix. The 27-year-old will operate this season as organizational depth.
Mar 28 - 12:26 PM

Stefen Romero (back) is in the Mariners' Cactus League lineup on Monday.

Romero missed a couple of days with a stiff back. It was obviously minor. The 27-year-old outfielder is batting .480 with a 1.180 OPS in 25 at-bats this spring as he tries to claim a spot on the Mariners' bench.
Mar 21 - 10:38 AM

Stefen Romero (back) went through a full workout on Sunday.

Assuming he comes out of it well, Romero will return to Cactus League action on Monday after missing a few days with a stiff back. Romero is hitting .480 so far this spring but still may be on the outside looking in when it comes to an Opening Day roster spot.
Mar 20 - 3:23 PM

Stefen Romero will not play Friday due to some back tightness.

He's not in either of Saturday's tentative split-squad lineups, either, but this shouldn't be more than a day-to-day thing. Romero has forced his way into the conversation for a bench spot by hitting .480 so far this spring.
Mar 18 - 12:52 PM

Stefen Romero tallied three singles and a run scored Tuesday against the Angels.

Romero is now batting .480 with a 1.180 OPS in 25 at-bats this spring. He had a little hiccup with a knee bruise earlier this month, but the 27-year-old first baseman and outfielder is past that now. He will continue fighting for a spot on the Mariners' bench.
Mar 15 - 8:29 PM

Stefen Romero (knee) has been cleared to play in Sunday's Cactus League game.

Romero had to leave a game last week after he was hit in the knee by a line drive, but it was obviously just a minor setback. The 27-year-old is competing for a bench job this spring.
Mar 6 - 9:41 AM

Stefan Romero (knee) is expected to resume workouts on Saturday.

He was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Padres after getting hit in the knee with a line drive. It appears to have been just a minor issue though, as Romero will get back to work on Saturday with the goal of earning a spot on the M's bench.
Mar 5 - 10:04 AM

Stefen Romero left Thursday's game against the Padres with a bruised knee.

He was playing first base when Jon Jay hit a line drive off his leg that rolled all the way to second base and turned into a double play. Romero singled and walked in two plate appearances before exiting in the fifth inning. Until we hear more, consider Romero day-to-day.
Mar 3 - 9:11 PM

Stefen Romero has taken some ground balls at first base.

Romero played a little first base in college but the Mariners have mostly used him as a corner outfielder. Seattle already has plenty of depth at first base with Adam Lind, Jesus Montero, Dae-Ho Lee and Gaby Sanchez all competing for roles. Unless Romero does something spectacular this spring, he'll likely begin the year in the minor leagues.
Feb 22 - 9:33 AM

Stefen Romero (shoulder) has resumed some baseball activities.

Romero suffered a contusion behind his left shoulder when he ran into the outfield wall last week, but it sounds like he has a shot to return before the season ends. "I haven't really swung at all since I tried to do it the next day after it happened, but I don't think I could swing now," Romero said. "Thank goodness it wasn't a fracture or anything with structural damage. That's good."

Stefen Romero went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI after replacing an injured Franklin Gutierrez on Friday.

It was just the second appearance of the season for Romero, who played in 72 games for the Mariners a year ago. He'll get some starts versus lefties down the stretch, but it doesn't seem likely that he'll have much AL-only fantasy value.
