Reds purchased the contract of RHP Josh Ravin from Double-A Pensacola.

Ravin made the move to the bullpen this season and posted a shaky 5.33 ERA and 26/22 K/BB ratio over 27 innings between High-A and Double-A. However, the 24-year-old right-hander throws in the mid-to-high 90s and pitched well in the Arizona Fall League, so the Reds didn't want to risk losing him in the Rule 5 Draft.
