Kevin Siegrist (arm) returned to action on Friday night, punching out a pair while allowing two hits over a scoreless inning of work.
Siegrist sat down for a few days after experiencing arm fatigue, but looks to be good to go now. He worked a scoreless eighth inning, keeping the Cardinals in the game and allowing them to come back and tie it up in the ninth. The 27-year-old southpaw owns a 2.85 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 47/17 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings on the season. Aug 20 - 8:34 AM

Kevin Siegrist (arm) is hoping to avoid the disabled list.

Siegrist got pulled after just eight pitches Sunday against the Cubs after experiencing arm fatigue. "It just hasn't been feeling too good," the left-hander said after the game. "It hasn't been too long, just a little dead-arm feeling." He might be limited to side sessions for much of this week as the Cardinals try to ensure the issue isn't serious.

Cardinals activated LHP Kevin Siegrist from the 15-day disabled list.

Siegrist missed two weeks with mononucleosis. The left-handed setup man has registered a cool 2.78 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 34/11 K/BB ratio through 32 1/3 innings (35 relief appearances) this season for St. Louis.

Kevin Siegrist (mononucleosis) is expected to rejoin the Cardinals' bullpen on Friday.

That's what Cardinals GM John Mozeliak told reporters ahead of Tuesday night's All-Star Game. Siegrist has been out with mono since the end of June. He had a 2.78 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 34/11 K/BB ratio through 32 1/3 innings (35 relief appearances) this season.
Jul 12 - 7:26 PM

Cardinals placed LHP Kevin Siegrist on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 30, with mononucleosis.

He shouldn't need more than the minimum 15 days, but it's a tough blow to a Cardinals bullpen that's wading through Trevor Rosenthal's struggles. Sam Tuivailala has taken Siegrist's spot in the 'pen.
Jul 1 - 3:34 PM

Kevin Siegrist spent the offseason working on his curveball.

Siegrist showed off the new pitch during a bullpen session on Tuesday. He intends to use the curve as his new breaking pitch after relying mostly on a slider last season. Siegrist said he's been trying to emulate teammate Adam Wainwright, who is known for having one of the best curveballs in MLB. After seeing him in action Tuesday, manager Mike Matheny called Siegrist's new curve a "wipe-out, strikeout pitch." The Cardinals will continue to use Siegrist in a setup role ahead of closer Trevor Rosenthal in 2016.

Kevin Siegrist notched his fifth win in relief with a hitless eighth inning against the Giants on Wednesday.

It's not going to matter much when it comes to arbitration, but Siegrist has been every bit as good of a pitcher as teammate Trevor Rosenthal this season. He's given up nine earned runs and posted a 66/20 K/BB ratio in 55 2/3 innings. Rosenthal has allowed nine earned runs with a 63/19 K/BB ratio in 56 1/3 innings.

Kevin Siegrist tossed a scoreless ninth inning against the Braves on Friday for his fifth save of the season.

Siegrist worked around an infield single and a walk to finish off the win. Trevor Rosenthal got the night off after pitching in the previous three games, but he should be back in there Saturday if a save opportunity arises.

Pitching for a second straight day in place of Trevor Rosenthal, Kevin Siegrist tossed a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins on Tuesday for his third save of the season.

Eduardo Nunez hit a one-out double which nearly left the ballpark and Eddie Rosario drew a two-out walk, but Siegrist was able to escape the jam to secure the Cardinals' fifth straight victory. Rosenthal was out again Tuesday due to arm soreness, so Siegrist is a must-stash in fantasy leagues until there's some more clarity on the situation.

With Trevor Rosenthal unavailable, Kevin Siegrist tossed a scoreless ninth inning Monday against the Twins to record his second save of the season.

Siegrist hit Torii Hunter with a pitch with two outs but then got Kurt Suzuki to line out to preserve the one-run lead. The Cardinals think Rosenthal is going to be OK, but he has tightness in his pitching arm so fantasy owners would be wise to scoop up Siegrist just in case. The southpaw has had a big bounce-back season, holding a 1.57 ERA and 39/10 K/BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings.

Kevin Siegrist was credited with the first save of his career after tossing two scoreless innings Friday against the Reds.

The Cardinals won by five runs, but they had a three-run lead when Siegrist entered the game in the eighth inning, so he was eligible for the save. The southpaw struck out three in his two innings of work while allowing one hit, one walk, and hitting a batter. Saves are going to be few and far between for him, but he's capable of being a valuable piece in this bullpen if he can avoid the injuries he dealt with last year.

Kevin Siegrist (arm) threw an impressive round of live batting practice Wednesday in Cardinals camp.

"It feels good to be back and get into a groove here and just get ready for the season," Siegrist told reporters after the workout. He battled neck and forearm issues in 2014, winding up with a brutal 6.82 ERA in 30 1/3 innings. The hard-throwing southpaw registered a ridiculous 0.45 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts across 39 2/3 innings in 2013.

Kevin Siegrist (arm) said Sunday that he has "a lot of confidence moving forward to spring training."

Siegrist was bothered by forearm and neck issues throughout the 2014 season and wound up posting an ugly 6.82 ERA in 30 1/3 innings. The hard-throwing left-hander was among the most effective relievers in baseball in 2013 and will try to get it all back in 2015. "I can tell right away that it’s definitely better and it’s probably 100 percent," Siegrist said Sunday about his health. "Just the way the ball comes out of my hand throwing long toss and stuff like that compared to last year."

Kevin Siegrist (arm) will begin throwing off a mound next week.

The southpaw is recovering from an array of arm injuries that plagued him during the 2014 season. Siegrist feels that his arm is "100 percent" and that he's over the injury woes.
