Kevin Siegrist (forearm, shoulder) threw a bullpen session Wednesday and said he's ready for a rehab assignment.
"I feel good," Siegrist said. "I'm ready. This has been no fun." The session was Siegrist's third pain-free session. He's been on the disabled list since May 24, so he still may not be ready for activation immediately after the All-Star break, but assuming things go well he shouldn't be out for too much longer. Kevin Siegrist (forearm, shoulder) threw another bullpen session Monday.

It was his second bullpen session since landing on the DL in May. He's scheduled to throw another one Wednesday, which will likely clear the way for him to begin a minor league rehab assignment.
Jul 7 - 5:17 PM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm, shoulder) threw a 25-pitch, low-intensity bullpen session on Friday.

The left-hander noted that he "feels better every time I throw." Siegrist landed on the DL in May with a left forearm strain, but it's a nerve issue in his shoulder that's been the bigger issue of late. While there remains no timetable for his return, progress is definitely being made.
Jul 4 - 4:14 PM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm, shoulder) will throw a low-intensity bullpen session on Friday.

Siegrist landed on the DL in May with a left forearm strain, but it's a nerve issue in his shoulder that's the bigger issue now. However, he's made notable progress after throwing a couple times on flat ground. There's no timetable for Siegrist's return, but obviously he won't be back prior to the All-Star break.
Jul 3 - 4:32 PM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm) didn't throw a bullpen session Wednesday as planned.

Siegrist had trouble getting his shoulder loose, as he's dealing with a nerve issue that also bothered him for a while during spring training. The good news is that he could be cleared to throw as soon as Friday. There's no timetable for his return.
Jun 18 - 11:57 AM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm) threw a successful bullpen session Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Siegrist is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday and could be activated over the weekend. The hard-throwing left-hander has been on the disabled list since May 24 with a mild forearm strain.
Jun 16 - 12:50 PM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday if he gets through a bullpen session Sunday with no issues.

Siegrist has been out since late May with a strained left forearm but has ramped up his throwing in recent days. He could conceivably be ready for activation by next weekend if all goes well.
Jun 15 - 12:05 PM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm) will ramp up his throwing program in the coming days.

A timetable for his return will be established once the Cardinals see how he reacts to the increased intensity. With Sam Freeman pitching well as the team's second left-hander in the bullpen, the Cards can afford to proceed cautiously with Siegrist.
Jun 11 - 9:51 AM

Kevin Siegrist (forearm) threw Sunday for the second time since going on the disabled list.

He did so without any pain. There's no timetable for Siegrist's return, but he's definitely trending in the right direction. He'll be eligible to return on June 8.
Jun 1 - 2:17 PM

Kevin Siegrist said Monday that his left forearm is "still sore, but getting better."

Siegrist originally felt tightness in his forearm/wrist area during an appearance on May 18, and he was placed on the DL after still feeling in his next game on May 23. Tests have ruled out structural damage, and he's been prescribed rest and rehab. He'll be eligible to return on June 8, but it's unclear whether he'll be ready at that time.
May 26 - 6:36 PM

Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Saturday that early scans on Kevin Siegrist's forearm have been encouraging.

Siegrist was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday afternoon with what's being labeled a forearm strain. The injury is more toward the wrist than the elbow, and the belief is that the young left-handed reliever will be able to avoid surgery. Siegrist, 24, owns a 1.51 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts in 59 2/3 major league innings.
May 24 - 5:39 PM

Cardinals placed LHP Kevin Siegrist on the 15-day disabled list with a left forearm strain.

Siegrist headed back to St. Louis on Saturday morning to have his left arm examined. He owns a 1.51 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 59 2/3 career major league innings. If it's a serious injury, this will be a big loss for the Cards.
May 24 - 4:10 PM

Kevin Siegrist made his second spring appearance Friday and pitched a hitless inning.

Siegrist was held back early in camp with some mild arm soreness, but he's just about caught up with the rest of the Cardinals' pitchers now. He walked one and struck out one today.
Mar 7 - 4:37 PM

Kevin Siegrist (arm) threw his first live batting practice session of the spring on Sunday.

Siegrist is a bit behind the other pitchers in Cardinals camp because he was resting through some mild soreness in his left arm. The hard-throwing southpaw should get caught up quickly and is in line to open the 2014 regular season as a setup man in the St. Louis 'pen. He posted an outstanding 0.45 ERA and struck out 50 batters last summer in his first 39 2/3 major league innings.
Feb 24 - 8:38 AM

Kevin Siegrist (arm) is scheduled to throw off a mound Thursday in Cardinals camp.

Siegrist skipped a scheduled bullpen session on Monday after experiencing some mild soreness in his left arm. If he gets through Thursday's workout without having any issues, the hard-throwing left-hander will be back on track. Siegrist is expected to open the 2014 season in a setup role behind Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal.
