Marlins signed C Ramon Cabrera to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cabrera was non-tendered by the Reds in early December after batting .246/.279/.357 in 185 plate appearances as the primary backup to starting catcher Tucker Barnhart. A.J. Ellis is currently slated to back up J.T. Realmuto in Miami, which probably means Cabrera will be ticketed for Triple-A New Orleans at the conclusion of Marlins camp. Thu, Jan 12, 2017 12:04:00 PM

Reds non-tendered C Ramon Cabrera.

The 27-year-old backstop did a respectable job as Tucker Barnhart's primary backup in 2016, slashing .246/.279/.357 with three homers and 23 RBI in 185 plate appearances. He'll look for another opportunity on the free agent market.

Reds designated C Ramon Cabrera for assignment.

The Reds essentially picked Juan Graterol over Cabrera for catching depth. Cabrera has hit just .264/.291/.378 over 215 plate appearances in the majors.

Ramon Cabrera doubled and singled in three chances on a night the Reds couldn't get anything going offensively in an interleague loss to the Angels.

His two hits represented half the team's total. Cabrera has been getting regular playing time lately due to Tucker Barnhart's injury but is batting just .250/.277/.341 with only one home run in 45 total games. He is a poor option even in deep two-catcher leagues.

Ramon Cabrera went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs with a double in the Reds' loss on Wednesday.

The double was of the ground rule variety. If the ball had not bounced over the fence a third run would have scored. Cabrera is batting .248 with one home run as the Reds' backup catcher behind Tucker Barnhart due to the season-long absence of Devin Mesoraco. He doesn't get enough playing time to merit fantasy consideration even in most two-catcher leagues.

Ramon Cabrera hit a three-run home run, his first of the season, to help the Reds hold off the Marlins 5-4 on Thursday.

The 26-year-old finished 2-for-4 in the game, just his 37th of the season as the backup for Tucker Barnhart. He picked a heck of a game to hit his first homer, too, as the Reds were opposing all-everything ace Jose Fernandez. The dinger was just the second of his career, and Cabrera is batting .250/.286/.337 in those 37 games this season.

Ramon Cabrera went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in Sunday's loss to the A's.

Cabrera drove home the Reds' only run of the game with his RBI double off Kendall Graveman in the second inning. The 26-year-old backstop has seen just 35 at-bats this season and does not make for any sort of real fantasy option.

Ramon Cabrera was sent to Cincinnati on Sunday for an exam and MRI on his sore left hand.

Cabrera was recently hit on the back of his left ring finger by a foul ball and has been dealing with some soreness, but everything checked out OK with the tests. The Reds summoned Raffy Lopez from Triple-A Louisville in case a trip to the disabled list was needed, but Cabrera was set to rejoin the Reds before Monday's game.

Reds recalled C Ramon Cabrera from Triple-A Louisville.

He'll replace the injured Devin Mesoraco (shoulder) on the active roster and give the Reds a third catching option alongside Tucker Barnhart and Jordan Pacheco. Cabrera, 26, owns a .287/.352/.381 batting line in the minors. Don't expect him to be fantasy relevant.

Reds optioned C Ramon Cabrera to Triple- Louisville.

Cabrera lasted a long time in camp but never had a chance to crack the Opening day roster. He'll be the everyday guy at Louisville.

Reds purchased the contract of C Ramon Cabrera from Triple-A Louisville.

Cabrera was hitting .290/.243/.353 with two homers and 35 RBI in 317 at-bats for Triple-A Louisville. The 25-year-old catcher doesn't have much much of a bat and does not present a fantasy option.

Reds reassigned C Ramon Cabrera, RHP Jon Moscot, and OF Felix Perez to minor league camp.

None of these cuts come as a surprise. Cabrera is behind four guys on the Reds' catching depth chart.

Pirates released C Ramon Cabrera.

Cabrera was designated for assignment on Thursday and cleared waivers. The 25-year-old batted .273/.325/.364 this past season between the Tigers' and Pirates' Double-A clubs.

Pirates designated C Ramon Cabrera for assignment.

Cabrera had been claimed off waivers from the Tigers in August. The 25-year-old hasn't played in the majors, but his .287/.355/.387 batting line during his minor league career is pretty good for a catcher.

Pirates claimed C Ramon Cabrera off waivers from the Tigers.

He had been designated for assignment in order to clear space on the 40-man roster for Buck Farmer. Cabrera, 24, doesn't have much power but has a solid batting eye, sporting a career .288/.356/.387 line in the minors. He'll provide catching depth.
