Leon will take the roster spot left vacant by Thursday's Scott Kazmir trade. It's not clear what his role will be. Drew Pomeranz is starting Thursday versus Toronto.

He gets the call over Josh Lindblom. Leon, 25, has posted a 4.34 ERA with 22 strikeouts over 29 innings at Triple-A Sacramento. He'll be sent back down after the spot start and is not worth streaming in fantasy leagues.

Athletics purchased the contract of RHP Arnold Leon from Triple-A Sacramento.

He's now on the 40-man roster. Leon posted a 2.70 ERA while striking out 74 batters in 66 2/3 innings over three minor league levels in 2012. The 24-year-old is unlikely to win an Opening Day roster spot.
