Rockies designated INF Cristhian Adames for assignment.

Adames has barely played this season, so it's no surprise he's been shipped out with Ian Desmond back. He should clear waivers.

Cristhian Adames hit a two-run home run as part of a four-run ninth inning that propelled the Rockies to a 5-1 win over the Pirates on Saturday.

Adames, who entered the game as part of a double-switch in the seventh inning, picked a great time for his first major league home run. The two-run shot off Pirates reliever Jared Hughes pushed the Rockies' lead to four runs. Despite Saturday's outburst, the 24-year-old isn't here for his power, as he's hitting just .184/.262/.263 in 38 at-bats this season.

Christhian Adames tripled and slugged a two-run homer in Friday’s 7-6 win over the Reds.

Adames is now batting .286 (12-for-42) with three home runs and an .897 OPS during Cactus League action. Trevor Story continues to receive most of the attention this spring from fantasy owners, but Adames isn’t making the decision easy on Rockies’ brass.

Cristhian Adames singled in a run and launched a solo homer in Monday's win over the Rangers.

The longball came in the sixth inning off of Jeremy Guthrie. Trevor Story has rightfully accumulated all the headlines this spring when it comes to the Rockies' shortstop competition, but Adames is doing his best to stay in the conversation. He's got a couple Cactus homers while sporting a .722 OPS.

Christian Adames was forced to leaves Sunday's game against the Dodgers after a hard collision on the bases with Joc Pederson.

Adames sustained contusions to his head, neck and right index finger in the collision. He's likely to need at least a couple of days off before he's ready to rejoin the Rockies lineup.

Cristhian Adames went 1-for-5 with an RBI triple in Thursday afternoon's loss to the Pirates.

Adames legged out his first triple of the season and drove in a run in the process in the fifth inning. The 24-year-old infielder is 12-for-37 (.306) with no home runs, a double and three RBI this season. He's yet to show any sort of real power.

Cristhian Adames went 2-for-4 and drove home a pair of runs on Sunday as the Rockies fell to the Giants.

While he's unlikely to find his way into the lineup on a nightly basis, Adames has an opportunity to show what he has at the big league level heading into the 2016 season. A two-run single off Madison Bumgarner on Sunday is certainly a good step toward that goal.

Rockies recalled INF Christhian Adames from Triple-A Albuquerque.

In an earlier cup of coffee with the Rockies, Adames picked up one hit in 15 at-bats. He was hitting .311/.362/.438 with 11 homers, 51 RBI and 11 steals across 463 Triple-A at-bats prior to joining the rest of the September call-ups this Tuesday. He might steal a bag or two in the next month, but he's unlikely to see enough playing time for fantasy purposes.

Rockies optioned INF Christian Adames to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Adames was just with the club for a couple of days to provide emergency infield depth and now the 24-year-old will return to Triple-A to continue playing everyday. He should get another opportunity with the big league club later in the summer.

Rockies recalled INF Cristhian Adames from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Adames has hit .296/.342/.416 with seven home runs and seven stolen bases in 86 games this season at the Triple-A level. The 24-year-old can play all over the infield, but he'll get most of his action at shortstop with Troy Tulowitzki now out of the picture. There's some talk that the Rockies might flip Jose Reyes, which could then open up a starting job for Adames.

Rockies prospect Cristhian Adames cranked two homers Tuesday for Triple-A Albuquerque.

They were his first two of the season. Adames overachieved in 2014, beginning in Double-A and finishing the year with a September call-up. The 23-year-old would probably have a permanent gig by now if not for Troy Tulowitzki. When Tulo inevitably gets hurt, Adames should be the first one the Rockies call.

Rockies recalled INF Cristhian Adames from Double-A Tulsa.

Adames, 23, batted .288/.345/.368 with three home runs, 52 RBI, and 12 steals over 126 games this season between Double- and Triple-A. He was already on the 40-man roster, so the Rockies will bring him up as an extra infielder for the final two weeks.

Rockies optioned INF Christian Adames to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Adames was only with the Rockies for about 24 hours. The 23-year-old owns an unimpressive .276/.332/.351 slash line this season between Double-A and Triple-A.

Rockies recalled INF Cristhian Adames from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Adames will give the Rockies some infield depth while Troy Tulowitzki (hip) is on the DL and Josh Rutledge battles an illness. The 23-year-old has hit .276/.332/.351 with two homers between Double- and Triple-A this season and will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.
