Brett Marshall - R - Yankees

Yankees recalled RHP Brett Marshall from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Marshall has posted a pedestrian 4.60 ERA and 29/21 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He'll provide depth in the New York 'pen for the second half of Monday's doubleheader in Cleveland.

Yankees purchased the contract of RHP Brett Marshall from Double-A Trenton.

Marshall, who turns 23 in March, posted a 3.52 ERA and 120/53 K/BB ratio over 158 1/3 innings in Double-A this year. Known for his plus-changeup, the 2008 sixth-round pick was recently ranked as the organization's No. 6 prospect by Baseball America.

1B	1	Mark Teixeira D.L. Yankees placed 1B Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 16, with right wrist inflammation. An MRI over the weekend didn't reveal any new damage in the wrist, but he was given a cortisone shot and will now get some extended rest. The Yankees are hopeful that he'll be able to play through the condition for the entire season, but the possibility of surgery still looms. Lyle Overbay will fill in at first base once again. Jun 18

SS	1	Derek Jeter D.L. Derek Jeter (ankle) took batting practice Wednesday for the first time since his second ankle fracture. It's another big step for the rehabbing shortstop, who is working out at the Yankees' spring training complex in Tampa, Florida. Jeter has been hitting off a tee and doing light fielding drills for about a week and is currently on track to return to the Yankees' active roster shortly after the All-Star break. Jun 19

Nunez, on the DL since May 6, took indoor batting practice and fielded grounders at the Yankees' spring training complex. 3B	1	Alex Rodriguez D.L. Alex Rodriguez (hip) is scheduled to face live pitching for the first time this year on Tuesday in Tampa. A-Rod is finally beginning to take major strides in his recovery from January hip surgery. He ran the bases at 75 percent effort over the weekend and is now ready to begin working on his timing at the plate. The veteran third baseman will be activated from the disabled list shortly after the All-Star break if everything continues to go according to plan with his rehab. Jun 17
	2	Kevin Youkilis D.L. Kevin Youkilis has a herniated disc in his back and will undergo surgery to repair it on Thursday. He is expected to need about 10-12 weeks of rest and rehab, which puts his season in jeopardy. It's another brutal blow to the Yankees, who have been without third baseman Alex Rodriguez (hip) all year. Youkilis was batting .219/.305/.343 with two home runs and eight RBI in 28 games as A-Rod's fill-in at the hot corner. Jun 18
