Diamondbacks purchased the contract of LHP Eury de la Rosa from Double-A Mobile.

The move protects him from being selected in December's Rule 5 Draft. Despite checking in at just 5-foot-9 and 167 pounds, de la Rosa has a 2.48 ERA and 265/69 K/BB ratio over his first 243 innings as a pro. Someone almost certainly would have tried to snag him as a left-handed specialist if he wasn't protected.
