Luis Santos pitched the final three innings for the Blue Jays to pick up his first save for Toronto in a win over Detroit on Sunday.

With Toronto leading 8-2, the Blue Jays turned to Santos to finish things off. He pitched well, allowing just two hits and striking out two in those three innings. He could be a relief option for the Blue Jays in 2018, although he's mostly started in his time as a professional.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Luis Santos from Triple-A Buffalo.

Santos, a 26-year-old who previously pitched in the Pirates and Royals systems, was 3-13 with a 4.16 ERA in a season spent mostly in Triple-A. He's primarily been a starter in the minors and he is a fallback option for Toronto's rotation, but his future, if he has one, is in relief.

Royals acquired RHP Luis Santos and LHP Luis Rico from the Pirates for 1B Clint Robinson and RHP Vin Mazzaro.

Santos, 21, had a 2.44 ERA and 74/20 K/BB ratio over 62 2/3 innings this year between the Pirates' two Dominican Summer League teams. He's a little old for the level, so it's probably time he faces some more advanced competition.
