Nationals signed LHP Braulio Lara to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Lara, who will turn 28 next month, held a 3.90 ERA over 25 relief appearances at Triple-A in the Giants organization in 2016 and also spent some time in Korea. He'll compete for a bullpen job in spring training but is a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster. Sun, Nov 20, 2016 10:09:00 AM

Marlins returned LHP Braulio Lara to Rays.

Lara has a big arm, but the Rule 5 pick was a longshot to stick even with the Marlins after posting a 5.71 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in A-ball last season. The 24-year-old allowed two runs over four spring innings.
