Mets sent OF Wuilmer Becerra outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Becerra is now off the Mets' 40-man roster. The 23-year-old was once one of the better outfield prospects in the Met system, but he has yet to have an OPS above .734 in a level above Low-A, and hit just .267 with a .335 slugging percentage in High-A St. Lucie this year. Becerra was acquired from the Blue Jays in the R.A. Dickey deal back in December of 2012. Oct 25 - 6:37 PM

Mets purchased the contract of OF Wulimer Becerra from High-A St. Lucie.

Becerra needs more seasoning, but the Mets didn't want to risk losing him in the Rule 5 Draft. The 22-year-old batted .312/.341/.393 with one homer and seven steals at St. Lucie in 2016.

Mets OF prospect Wulimer Becerra bopped his first home run of the season Monday in a win for High-A St. Lucie.

Becerra drove in a career-high five runs as the Mets rolled to a 17-0 triumph over Jupiter. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. Becerra hasn't hit for much power this year—his slugging percentage is south of .400—but he leads the Florida State League in batting average at .316. The 21-year-old has always been a good contact hitter, batting .287 over 1,048 career minor league at-bats.

Mets outfield prospect Wulimer Becerra went 5-for-5 with two doubles for rookie-level Kingsport on Wednesday.

The 19-year old Becerra was the lottery ticket the Mets received in the R.A. Dickey trade with the Blue Jays. He has shown above-average power in batting practice, but it has yet to consistently show up in games. However, he has gone 7-for-8 with two doubles and two home runs in his last two games, which could be some sort of harbinger of his development. He is very raw, and is unlikely to reach the major leagues until 2018, if at all.

Mets acquired OF Wulimer Becerra from the Blue Jays in the seven-player R.A. Dickey trade.

Becerra batted .250/.359/.375 with no homers in 39 plate appearances this summer in the Gulf Coast League. The 18-year-old outfielder is about as raw as it gets.
