Padres sent LHP Caleb Thielbar outright to Triple-A El Paso.
Thielbar was designated for assignment by the Friars at the end of August and cleared waivers without a claim. The left-handed reliever allowed five hits and three runs in five innings earlier this year with Minnesota and then got picked up off waivers August 8 by San Diego. He won't have another shot at the majors until 2016. Sep 3 - 3:38 PM

Padres claimed LHP Caleb Thielbar off waivers from the Twins.

The southpaw was designated for assignment last week to make room on the Twins roster for Kevin Jepsen. He owns a 2.81 ERA and 19/18 K/BB ratio over 32 innings at Triple-A Rochester. He adds additional bullpen depth for the Padres.

Twins designated LHP Caleb Thielbar for assignment.

Twins optioned LHP Caleb Thielbar to Triple-A Rochester.

Thielbar had provided the Twins with an extra left-hander in the bullpen with Brian Duensing sidelined, and with Duensing returning his services are no longer required. He'll continue to function as organizational depth and should get another opportunity with the big league club later in the season.

Twins recalled LHP Caleb Thielbar from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll give the Twins another left relief option with Brian Duensing (intercostal) out. Thielbar has posted a 2.59 ERA over 103 relief appearances the last two seasons with the big club.

Twins optioned LHP Caleb Thielbar to Triple-A Rochester.

Thielbar was knocked around for 19 hits and eight runs (seven earned) in 11 spring innings. He's better than those numbers, though, putting up a 2.59 ERA with a 74/30 K/BB in 94 innings over the last two seasons. If the team needs an extra lefty in the bullpen at some point, they could do a lot worse. As of now, Brian Duensing is the only left-hander in their bullpen outside of closer Glen Perkins.

Caleb Thielbar picked up a win in relief after pitching a perfect inning against the Indians on Monday.

Thielbar was primarily used when the Twins were down last year, but he's getting more work in close games now, even if he's often just being called on to face one or two batters at a time. He already has two wins and two holds in his 13 appearances, and he's allowed two runs in 9 2/3 innings total.

Caleb Thielbar pitched a scoreless frame to help the Twins top the Marlins 4-2 on Sunday.

Thielbar was great but underutilized last year. This spring, he's allowed one run in five innings, but it doesn't sound like he'll make the staff with the Twins likely to keep at least a couple of guys who are out of options. That's a shame because he's probably one of the team's better relievers.

Caleb Thielbar was unavailable Friday due to a groin injury.

The Twins are listing him as day-to-day for now. Thielbar has a 0.83 ERA in 20 relief appearances this season.

Twins activated LHP Caleb Thielbar from the bereavement list.

Thielbar has burst onto the scene as one of the major's elite LOOGYs this season. He's allowed only one run over 21 innings. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire will work Thielbar into high-leverage situations, which should increase his value in holds leagues.
