Jesus Aguilar is batting sixth and starting at designated hitter for the Brewers on Saturday against the Yankees.
Despite the fact that the Brewers are facing right-handed hurler Luis Severino, Aguilar is unsurprisingly back in the lineup a day after blasting a pair of home runs and plating a career-high seven runs. Eric Thames is back in the lineup at first base and batting second for the Brewers. Jul 8 - 9:58 AM

Jesus Aguilar slugged two homers — including a grand slam — and drove in seven runs in Friday’s 9-4 victory over the Yankees.

The seven RBI tied a franchise record. Aguilar connected for a two-run homer in the fourth inning before adding a game-tying sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. He then slugged a go-ahead grand slam off Tyler Clippard in the seventh. After an excellent showing during spring training, the 27-year-old is batting .299/.357/.567 with nine home runs and 34 RBI through 78 games this season.
Jul 8 - 12:18 AM

Jesus Aguilar went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Cubs.

Aguilar's RBI single in the fifth inning turned out to be the last run of the day. The big first baseman is now batting .288/.350/.525 on the season, proving to be a shrewd waiver claim by the Brewers.
Jul 6 - 5:55 PM

Jesus Aguilar had a big night at the dish Thursday, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored against the Reds.

The big blow was a three-run homer off Reds reliever Kevin Shackelford in the fourth inning, but Aguilar also had a double in the game and finished the ever-elusive triple shy of the cycle. His hot hitting, coupled with Eric Thames' chilly month of June, could lead to more playing time for Aguilar as we move along. Through Thursday, the 26-year-old is batting .295/.360/.555 in 72 games.
Jun 30 - 12:30 AM

Jesus Aguilar hit a solo home run, scored twice and drove in two runs in a loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.

He got an RBI by hitting a grounder booted by the third baseman in the first inning, then lifted a solo shot to left field in the third frame. Aguilar is serving as a part-time first baseman and frequent pinch hitter in his first season with the Brewers. He saw a few games of action in each of the last three seasons with the Indians. He is batting .272/.336/.534 with five homers and 18 RBI in 103 at-bats in 2017.
Jun 3 - 9:51 PM

Jesus Aguilar homered and scored twice in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Augilar went yard against Diamondbacks starter Zack Grienke in the sixth inning for a solo shot, his fourth homer of the year. There was a time when a struggling Aguilar seemed destined for the minors or even possibly a DFA, but he's now hitting .288/.345/.575 through 80 at-bats. He's gotten more playing time in recent weeks with Eric Thames' injury issues, but when Thames is healthy the 26-year-old is relegated to a bench role.
May 27 - 8:06 PM

Jesus Aguilar went 3-for-5 with a solo homer Monday against the Padres.

Aguilar had a huge spring to make the Brewers and then a nice first week of the regular season before fading quickly. However, he's now going 6-for-9 with four extra-base hits the last three days, raising his OPS from .690 to .933. He could be looking at more starts at first, with Eric Thames in left field, while Ryan Braun is out.
May 16 - 2:17 AM

Jesus Aguilar's first-ever MLB home run Thursday was a timely one, putting the Brewers ahead in a game they would hold on to win 5-4 over the Cardinals.

Aguilar stepped to the plate as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning and drove a Matt Bowman pitch out to left-center for the solo shot. It was his first career homer in 60 games at the major league level. His time in the bigs may soon come to an end -- the Brewers aren't going anywhere, and despite his strong spring Aguilar is hitting .238/.289/.357 -- but nobody can take Thursday away from the 26-year-old.
May 5 - 12:07 AM

Jesus Aguilar finished 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's victory against the Cubs.

Aguilar is off to a great start, hitting safely in each of his first five games. Most of Aguilar's starts are expected to come against left-handed starting pitching, so that limits his fantasy appeal dramatically. However, he could make things hard for manager Craig Counsell if he continues to produce.
Apr 8 - 12:40 AM

Jesus Aguilar went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk Thursday against the Rockies.

The Brewers moved Eric Thames to left field to give Aguilar his second start at first base, and Aguilar responded with another nice game, making him 5-for-7 to date. The Brewers won't play Thames in the outfield often, so most of Aguilar's opportunities will come against left-handers, leaving him with little NL-only value.
Apr 6 - 5:01 PM

Jesus Aguilar mashed his seventh home run of the spring Wednesday in the Brewers’ Cactus League loss to the Angels.

It was a solo shot off starter Matt Shoemaker. He also singled to begin the fourth inning. Aguilar has put himself on the map by hitting .466 with 17 RBI over 58 Cactus League at-bats. He’ll open the year as the backup first baseman in Milwaukee but could push Eric Thames for at-bats if he continues his torrid hot streak.
Mar 29 - 7:03 PM

Jesus Aguilar has made the Brewers' roster.

There wasn't any doubt, as Aguilar is out of options and has mashed the ball to the tune of a .463 average, six homers and 16 RBI this spring. The former Indians prospect should see some starts against left-handed pitching and it's not out of the question that he could push Eric Thames for the first base job if Thames gets off to a rough start.
Mar 28 - 8:13 PM

Jesus Aguilar continued his red-hot spring on Friday by going 4-for-4 with three runs scored against the Reds.

All four hits were singles. Claimed off waivers from the Indians over the winter, the 26-year-old Aguilar has had a ridiculous spring, hitting .500 (23-for-46) with five home runs and a 1.457 OPS over 19 games. The Brewers signed Eric Thames to be their starting first baseman, but it’s no sure that that his KBO success will translate. Aguilar is poised to win a spot on Milwaukee’s bench, but there could be the opportunity for more.
Mar 24 - 8:23 PM

Jesus Aguilar doubled, drew three walks, and scored four runs Monday against the Mariners to continue his red-hot spring.

Claimed off waivers from the Indians back in February, Aguilar is now batting .462 (12-for-26) with three homers and nine RBI this spring. It’s going to be tough to leave him off the Opening Day roster at this rate.
Mar 13 - 9:00 PM

Jesus Aguilar went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run in Saturday's Cactus League win over the Padres.

Aguilar burned Paul Clemens for a three-run homer in the fourth inning. That now gives him three homers during spring action. The Brewers claimed him off waivers from the Indians in February. While the 26-year-old has struggled when given previous opportunities at the major league level, he should be able to land on the Brewers' Opening Day roster as a bench option.
