Diamondbacks acquired SS Nick Ahmed from the Braves in the seven-player Justin Upton trade.

The D'Backs are now planning to put Ahmed into a package that could help them land right-hander Rick Porcello from the Tigers. The 22-year-old shortstop was a second-round selection in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft out of the University of Connecticut. He hit .269/.337/.391 with 40 steals in 130 games last season in High-A ball. Jan 24 - 1:16 PM

Nick Ahmed - SS - Diamondbacks

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Diamondbacks will package Nick Ahmed with a pitching prospect and pursue a trade for the Tigers' Rick Porcello.

The Diamondbacks are getting Ahmed from the Braves in the seven-player Justin Upton trade, which was finalized Thursday afternoon. A second-round pick in 2011, Ahmed batted .269/.337/.391 with six home runs, 49 RBI and 40 stolen bases over 130 games last season for High-A Lynchburg. He is a very rangy defender.

"He's going to be waiting and try to get some more growth on that bone," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. Hill to this point has been limited to running and standing in on bullpen sessions to track pitches. It's unlikely that he'll be ready to return before June now. May 13

LF	1	Jason Kubel Sidelined Jason Kubel has been out of the starting lineup the past two games after aggravating his left quadriceps injury. The injury forced him onto the disabled list earlier this season. "Just trying to get over that," Kubel said. "We decided to give it a few days rest." Kubel was batting .333/.375/.600 with two homers and six RBI before going down with the injury on April 9 and he's struggled mightily since, batting .167 since his activation. Arizona begins a three-game series Friday against Florida and Kubel's former Twins teammate Kevin Slowey. Cody Ross and A.J. Pollock will pick up additional at-bats if Kubel can't play. May 17

CF	1	Adam Eaton D.L. The Diamondbacks have shifted Adam Eaton's (elbow) rehab assignment from Triple-A Reno to High-A Visalia. Eaton is currently being limited to DH duties and the pitchers at Triple-A Reno will hit for the next week, so he had to find a new team to rehab with. Eaton is still a week or so away from manning center field. He's expected to rejoin the D'Backs near the end of May. May 11

	6	Daniel Hudson D.L. Daniel Hudson (elbow) threw 55 pitches over two innings in a live batting practice session on Monday. "He looked good," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "He was overthrowing in the first inning but he came back in the second and had much better location. Overall it was good." Hudson will now begin throwing on a regular five-day cycle, mixing in a bullpen session in between each outing as he would do during the regular season.
