Braves hired Kevin Seitzer as hitting coach.
Greg Walker stepped down from the post at the end of September following a highly disappointing 2014 for the Atlanta offense. Seitzer, a former two-time All-Star, will try to get more out of the Braves' high-upside bats. He previously served as hitting coach for the Diamondbacks, Royals, and Blue Jays. Oct 27 - 8:47 AM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that John Hart will be named the Braves' president of baseball operations.

Hart had been serving as the Braves' interim general manager since the September 22 firing of Frank Wren and will now take a permanent role in Atlanta's front office. Hart is the former general manager of the Indians and Rangers. He also served as an in-studio analyst for a couple of years on MLB Network. The Braves still need to name a new GM, and that person will work directly under Hart.

According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Braves president John Schuerholz shot down a report that John Hart turned down the team's offer to be their full-time general manager.

In addition to stating that Hart turned down the job, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported that the Braves were turning their focus to assistant GM John Coppolella and Royals GM Dayton Moore, with former Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd also potentially in the mix. "At best the article was not accurate with either the facts or the assumptions," said Schuerholz.

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports that John Hart has turned down the Braves' offer to be their full-time general manager.

Hart was elevated from senior adviser to interim GM last month when the team fired Frank Wren. The Braves wanted Hart to take the full-time job and groom 35-year-old assistant GM John Coppolella to eventually take over, but he's decided against it. The report also says the club is now focused on either Coppolella or Royals GM Dayton Moore for the job, though they've yet to talk to Moore and they doubt he'd leave Kansas City. Passan lists former Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd as someone the Braves' brass has discussed, but it's unclear whether he'd be considered for the job. Hart will stay on in an advisory role.

Braves hitting coach Greg Walker has resigned.

The Braves finished in the middle of the pack in runs scored for the first two years of Walker's tenure, but they sunk all the way to 29th this season. Walker was previously the White Sox' hitting coach from 2003-11.

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports that the Braves have offered John Hart their full-time general manager position.

He was elevated from senior adviser to interim GM on Monday when the team fired Frank Wren. Hart, of course, has tons of past GM experience between the Indians and Rangers. According to Passan, the 66-year-old has told the Braves he "he needed to give it serious thought." Passan adds that Hart would likely groom 35-year-old assistant GM John Coppolella to eventually take over.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Braves have fired general manager Frank Wren.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported early Monday morning that the club was leaning this way, and the hammer came down quickly. Wren had a good amount of overall success in his seven years as Atlanta's general manager, but somebody had to take the fall for this year's late-season collapse and it'll be Wren instead of manager Fredi Gonzalez. John Hart will take over as interim GM in Atlanta and retired skipper Bobby Cox will help lead the search for a permanent replacement. The last GM fired from the Braves was John Mullen, the man who signed Hank Aaron. It's not an organization that likes to make drastic off-the-field changes.
Sep 22 - 10:48 AM

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution expects the Braves to fire GM Frank Wren.

And FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal is hearing that it might happen this week, before the end of the regular season. The Braves haven't fired a GM or manager since 1990, but this year's late-season collapse isn't sitting well with the club's higher-ups and it looks as though Wren will be the scapegoat. O'Brien says manager Fredi Gonzalez will likely keep his job but that several other coaches could be gone.
Sep 22 - 9:31 AM

Fredi Gonzalez was ejected from Saturday's game against the Cardinals for arguing a foul ball.

Gonzalez was adamant, and appeared to have an argument, that Aaron Harang got a piece of a bunt attempt in which Andrelton Simmons was thrown out stealing third on. He'll catch the rest of this one from the clubhouse.
May 17 - 3:39 PM

The Braves have extended the contracts of general manager Frank Wren and manager Fredi Gonzalez.

Braves team president John Schuerholz did not reveal the contract terms, but Wren and Gonzalez were both entering the final years of their previous contracts. Wren took over for Schuerholz as GM in October of 2007 while Gonzalez is entering his fourth season as manager of the Braves.

Roger McDowell will return to the Braves to serve as their pitching coach on a two-year deal.

There was some thought that McDowell would leave to take the same position with the Phillies, but the Braves kept him by stepping up their offer from a one-year deal to a two-year contract. Under McDowell, the Braves pitching staff led all of baseball with a 3.18 ERA in 2013.

According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Braves may look at former Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee as a replacement if Roger McDowell leaves.

The Phillies are known to have interest in securing McDowell as their pitching coach for next season, and it seems like the Braves are already preparing for the possibility of his departure. Dubee was let go upon completion of the 2013 season after 13 seasons as a coach for the Phillies, with the last nine coming as pitching coach.

The Braves have named Doug Dascenzo as their third base coach for the 2014 season.

Dascenzo has served as a roving outfielder/baserunning instructor in the Braves organization since October of 2011. The Braves previous third base coach, Brian Snitker, has been named the manager of the Braves Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett.
