Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports the Giants will hire Curt Young as their new pitching coach.
Young was fired as the Athletics pitching coach in June and now makes the short trip across the Bay to San Francisco. He served as the Athletics pitching coach from 2004 to 2017, interrupted only by a one-year stint with the Red Sox in 2011. He pitched for the Athletics from 1983-1993. Young will replace Dave Righetti, who is moving to the Giants' front office after a 17-year stint as their pitching coach. Nov 3 - 9:10 PM

Powell spent 2017 as the Astros assistant hitting coach, but he'll leave to join the Giants coaching staff after the World Series. Hensley Meulens served in the role for the Giants last year, but he's being moved to bench coach for the 2018 season. Powell has also been a hitting coach for the Mariners.

Ron Wotus will be the Giants' third base coach next season, and Hensley Meulens will be their bench coach.

They also hired Matt Herges as their new bullpen coach. San Francisco is shuffling roles around, as Wotus had been the bench coach and Meulens the hitting coach. They still have to name a new pitching coach and hitting coach for next season.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy underwent a minor ablation procedure Tuesday morning to alleviate some discomfort related to an atrial flutter, an abnormal heart rhythm.

The procedure was performed in San Diego, where Bochy lives. Giants bench Coach Ron Wotus will manage the team during their two-game series against the Royals. Bochy is expected to rejoin the team on Friday.

The Giants have hired Phil Nevin as their new third base coach.

They are also promoting Triple-A Sacramento manager Jose Alguacil to serve as their first base coach. Nevin was a manager at Triple-A Reno in the Diamondbacks' organization the last three years and a finalist for the skipper job with the big club.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Giants are likely to hire Phil Nevin as their new third base coach.

Nevin was a finalist for the Diamondbacks' manager job that went to Torey Lovullo. He's been the skipper at Triple-A Reno the last three years and is expected to head to another organization now that it looks like he'll never get a chance to ascend to the head job in Arizona.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy was ejected from Friday's game against the Rockies for arguing balls and strikes.

Bochy came to the defense of Brandon Crawford who was punched out on a highly suspect strike-three call. Home plate umpire John Tumpane wasn't having any of it though and gave the skipper the quick gate.

The Giants on Friday announced contract extensions for manager Bruce Bochy and president of baseball operations Brian Sabean through 2019.

Their previous deal ran through 2016. Sabean received a promotion, as assistant general manager Bobby Evans has been moved up to general manager. The extensions are well deserved with the Giants having captured three out of the last five World Series titles.

John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the contract extensions for manager Bruce Bochy and general manager Brian Sabean will run through 2019.

They were already under contract through 2016, so the new deal keeps them around for an additional three years. It's been reported that Sabean will be promoted to president of baseball operations, with assistant general manager Bobby Evans taking his spot as general manager. The Giants have yet to confirm that or announce the deal at this point.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Giants are nearing contract extensions with manager Bruce Bochy and general manager Brian Sabean.

CSNBayArea.com's Alex Pavlovic says that Sabean could be promoted to president of baseball operations, with assistant general manager Bobby Evans taking his spot as general manager. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman adds that the new deal will be good through "at least 2018." The extensions (and promotions) are obviously well deserved, as Bochy and Sabean have helped lead the Giants to three World Series over the last five seasons. It's the first time since the 1942-46 St. Louis Cardinals that a National League team accomplished the feat.
