Nick Tepesch was hammered in Friday's loss to the Athletics, giving up five runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Tepesch also issued four walks while striking out two. The A's broke the game open in with a three-run uprising in the third inning, capped off by a solo homer from Josh Reddick. Tepesch finishes the season with a 4.36 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 56/44 K/BB ratio over 126 innings. His strong finish to the season should give him a leg up on the competition for one of the final spots in the Rangers rotation heading into the 2015 season. Sep 26 - 11:18 PM

Nick Tepesch allowed one run on four hits over seven innings but settled for a no-decision against the Angels on Sunday.

Tepesch has now turned in two fairly similar outings his last two times out, both Rangers wins. Despite not factoring in the decision, he lowered his ERA to 4.14 with the strong turn Sunday. It's something to build on for next year, and Tepesch will have one more chance to improve his numbers Friday against the Athletics.
Sep 21 - 8:21 PM

Nick Tepesch yielded three earned runs in six innings Tuesday in a victory over the A's.

Tepesch wasn't impressive -- striking out one and walking two -- but Scott Kazmir languished across the way, allowing him to hang in there for a victory. He hadn't secured one of those since August 6, a string of six starts. Tepesch's overall numbers remain poor (5-11, 4.47 ERA), but he had a 3.89 ERA in seven starts since the beginning of August entering tonight's game. The 25-year-old squares off against the Angels this weekend.
Sep 17 - 1:12 AM

Rangers recalled RHP Nick Tepesch from Triple-A Round Rock.

Tepesch was optioned to the minors over the weekend, but he's back with the big club now that rosters have expanded. The 25-year-old holds a mediocre 4.44 ERA and 47/34 K/BB ratio over 97 1/3 innings with the Rangers this season.
Sep 2 - 2:22 PM

Rangers optioned RHP Nick Tepesch to Triple-A Round Rock.

Tepesch is 4-8 with a 4.44 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 97 1/3 innings this season at the major league level. He'll likely be brought back next week when rosters expand.
Aug 30 - 4:13 PM

Nick Tepesch was solid through four innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth inning and ultimately took a no-decision as the Rangers fell 4-2 to the Astros on Thursday.

Tepesch got the first out of the fifth but allowed a single and a walk before he was relieved by Roman Mendez after throwing 89 pitches. Mendez loaded the bases after allowing a single, then served up a go-ahead grand slam to Jason Castro, allowing both of Tepesch's runners to score. Overall, Tepesch gave up the two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one batter. He'll take a 4.44 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and a 47/34 K/BB ratio into Tuesday's start against the Royals in Kansas City.
Aug 28 - 11:29 PM

Nick Tepesch yielded six earned runs in 6 1/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Royals.

Alex Gordon hit a solo shot in the top of the first inning and then Tepesch fell completely part in a three-walk, three-run fifth. He is now 4-8 with a 4.45 ERA.
Aug 23 - 11:05 PM

Nick Tepesch took a no-decision after limiting the Angels to two runs in seven innings in Sunday's walk-off win.

Tepesch was strong, allowing only the two runs in the second inning. He was in line for the loss, however, until Angels closer Huston Street blew the save in the ninth inning. Tepesch yielded six hits, walked four, and struck out only one. The right-hander has been pitching well as of late, lowering his ERA to 4.15 as a result. Tepesch will oppose the Royals at home next Sunday.
Aug 17 - 6:04 PM

Nick Tepesch held the Rays to two runs on four hits over seven innings in a no-decision on Tuesday.

The only damage against Tepesch came in the sixth inning, when the Rays legged out two triples. He didn't walk a batter in his seven innings of work while striking out four. It's been more downs than ups for the 25-year-old this season, as he owns a 4.29 ERA through 79 2/3 innings. He's now allowed just two earned runs over his past 12 2/3 innings, though, and he'll look to build off his strong performances when he faces the Angels on Sunday.
Aug 13 - 12:55 AM

Nick Tepesch tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings Wednesday in the Rangers' defeat of the White Sox.

Tepesch was skipped on his last turn through the Texas rotation because of a sore left knee. He looked well-rested on Wednesday afternoon in Chicago, scattering six hits and a walk over his 5 2/3 shutout frames. Tepesch is 4-7 on the season with a 4.46 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.
Aug 6 - 5:14 PM

Nick Tepesch (knee) has been cleared to start on Wednesday against the White Sox.

Tepesch had his last outing skipped due to a sore left knee, but he's thrown a couple bullpen sessions and said he's nearly 100 percent. The righty holds a 4.84 ERA over 67 innings for the Rangers this season.
Aug 4 - 9:32 PM

Nick Tepesch (knee) has been pushed back in the rotation.

Meaning he won't make his scheduled start in the Rangers' three-game series against the Indians. Tepesch left his outing Saturday against the A's with soreness in his left knee. It's not a major concern.
Jul 29 - 4:40 PM

Nick Tepesch left his start Saturday against the Athletics with left knee soreness.

Tepesch pitched six innings before exiting, allowing three earned runs on four hits while striking out two. It's not clear whether the right-hander will be able to make his next scheduled start, and the Rangers probably won't know for sure until early next week.
Jul 26 - 10:09 PM

Nick Tepesch was smacked around for five runs on nine hits and two walks over just 4 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.

He also hit a batter, gave up a home run and didn't record a strikeout. Magically, Tepesch escaped with a no-decision in what turned out to be a 9-6 loss for the Rangers. The right-hander has now yielded 14 runs across his last three starts to push his ERA from 3.65 to 4.75. He'll try to bounce back next weekend against the A's, which seems like an unlikely proposition.
Jul 20 - 4:31 PM

Nick Tepesch yielded three runs over six-plus innings in a loss to the Angels on Friday.

Tepesch allowed just a solo home run to Mike Trout over his first six innings of work, but he was pulled after he gave up three straight singles to begin the seventh inning. The final run scored after he was replaced by Neftali Feliz. It was a pretty good outing for the most part, as Tepesch allowed no walks while striking out a pair, but the Rangers just couldn't get anything going against Garrett Richards and the Angels' bullpen. He'll finish off the first half with a 4.31 ERA over 10 starts.
