Jesus Sucre hit his sixth homer of the season in a 3-2 victory over Boston on Sunday.
The homer was a big one, as it broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning and ended Eduardo Rodriguez day. Sucre is much better with the glove than the bat, but if you groove one, he's strong enough to take advantage. Even with the big day he's still hitting just .259/294/.404. Sep 17 - 4:39 PM

Jesus Sucre clobbered his fifth home run of the season in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

Sucre tagged Red Sox' starter Drew Pomeranz for the two-run blast in the fifth inning. The veteran backstop also singled, going 2-for-4 on the night. He has done a servicable job as a backup catcher for the Rays this season, hitting .259/.297/.392 with five homers and 26 RBI.

Jesus Sucre went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

Sucre connected for a solo home run in the eighth inning to prevent what would have been a 7-0 blanking by the O's. The dinger was his fourth of the season. He is hitting .257/.280/.416 in 33 games this season.
Jul 2 - 4:28 PM

Jesus Sucre homered and drove home three run on Sunday, leading the Rays in a 7-2 thrashing of the Blue Jays.

Sucre launched a solo homer in the fifth inning, the third home run that the Rays hit off of Jays' starter Marco Estrada. He capped off the damage in the ballgame with a two-run single in the eight that put the game out of reach. With Derek Norris behind the plate, Sucre isn't going to see enough playing time to be fantasy-relevant.
Apr 9 - 4:23 PM

Rays purchased the contract of C Jesus Sucre from Triple-A Durham.

Sucre out-played Curt Casali and Luke Maile this spring and will open as the Rays' backup behind Derek Norris. Casali and Maile are still around and Wilson Ramos (knee) is coming eventually, so Sucre will need to perform to stick.
Apr 2 - 8:42 AM

Jesus Sucre has secured a spot on the Rays' Opening Day roster.

That was already the expectation, but the Rays made it official Wednesday by sending down Curt Casali and Luke Maile. Sucre should be the backup to Derek Norris (at least until Wilson Ramos is ready to catch), so there's no fantasy appeal here. He owns a .522 OPS over 264 plate appearances in the majors.
Mar 29 - 10:14 AM

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that Jesus Sucre is likely to make the Rays' Opening Day roster.

He and new addition Derek Norris will form the Rays' catching duo until Wilson Ramos (knee) is ready. Curt Casali or Luke Maile will be the odd men out, with Casali possibly being trade bait. Sucre is a defense-first catcher who probably won't play a ton, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
Mar 26 - 3:37 PM

Jesus Sucre went 2-for-2 with a home run versus the Pirates on Saturday.

He entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Corey Dickerson. Sucre is part of a crowded battle for the backup catcher role until starter Wilson Ramos returns from a knee injury. He has a .209 batting average in 264 career plate appearances.
Feb 25 - 5:10 PM

Rays acquired C Jesus Sucre from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Sucre was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week. The 28-year-old has produced an underwhelming .209/.246/.276 over 264 plate appearances in the majors. He'll give the Rays another catching option going into spring training.
Feb 8 - 2:36 PM

Mariners sent C Jesus Sucre outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Sucre was designated for assignment last week after the Mariners picked up Dillon Overton. He'll stick around in the organization and will be in spring training as catching depth.
Feb 1 - 2:27 PM

Mariners designated C Jesus Sucre for assignment.

The move clears a spot for the newly-acquired Dillon Overton on the 40-man roster. Sucre was set to enter spring training out of options and wasn't projected to make the Opening Day roster, so he was an expendable piece for Seattle.
Jan 26 - 6:35 PM

Mariners and C Jesus Sucre avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $630,000 contract.

Sucre was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. He's slated to open 2017 in the minors.

Mariners recalled C Jesus Sucre from Triple-A Tacoma.

Sucre made a brief appearance with the M's earlier this season and hit .273/.301/.333 in 29 games at Tacoma. He'll be the club's third catcher.
Fri, Sep 2, 2016 03:06:00 PM

Mariners optioned C Jesus Sucre to Triple-A Tacoma.

Mike Zunino was recalled in a corresponding roster move. Sucre is 1-for-8 this season and stands as a .176/.210/.225 career hitter at the major league level.
Wed, Jul 20, 2016 12:52:00 PM

Mariners activated C Jesus Sucre from the 60-day disabled list.

Sucre underwent surgery to repair a fractured fibula back in January. Now recovered from the offseason injury, he will take on a backup role behind starter Chris Iannetta. In 127 at-bats last season, the 28-year-old backstop hit just .157/.195/.228. There is no fantasy intrigue here.
