Jimenez has been working at extended spring training since suffering the strained pectoral. He's the top prospect in the White Sox system, and with the ability to hit for average and power, there's a good chance he'll see time with Chicago before the end of the 2018 season. Apr 18 - 5:06 PM

Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) is expected to return to game action next week.

He resumed playing catch on Wednesday and should be ready to play in extended spring training games by next week. Jimenez suffered a strained pectoral muscle last month while lifting weights at the team's spring training facility in Arizona. When healthy, the highly-touted prospect will report to Double-A Birmingham.

White Sox OF prospect Eloy Jimenez has been diagnosed with a strained left pectoral muscle.

Jimenez suffered the injury while working out at the team's spring training complex in Arizona. The White Sox are describing it as a "mild" strain, though he'll be shut down from baseball activities for at least a week. The 21-year-old currently ranks as MLB.com's No. 4 prospect.
Mar 31 - 10:44 PM

White Sox reassigned OF prospect Eloy Jimenez to Double-A Birmingham.

It's no surprise that Jimenez is not going to make the 25-man roster -- he's never played above Double-A -- but the promise he showed in his limited time with the White Sox in the Cactus League made things a little interesting. While he'll begin the year in Birmingham, there's an excellent chance he'll be with Chicago at some point this year. He's worth a flyer in re-draft leagues, as the offensive upside here competes with any prospect in baseball.
Mar 14 - 5:22 PM

Eloy Jimenez blasted a homer and tripled on Sunday in a 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks in Cactus League action.

That gives Jimenez two in two games. As if you needed anymore proof that this guy can really swing the bat. Not only does he have plus-plus power potential from the right side, the 22-year-old can also hit for average because the ball jumps off his bat. It's not a guarantee he makes his debut in 2018, but you should be ready if he does, and you should have already picked him up in your dynasty formats.
Mar 11 - 7:14 PM

White Sox' manager Rick Renteria confirmed Saturday that Eloy Jimenez (knee) will return to Cactus League play on Sunday.

The top prospect has been limited to just one game so far in the spring due to tendinitis in his left knee. With a strong showing in Arizona, he could have pushed for inclusion on the team's Opening Day roster, but it's far more likely that he'll begin the year at Double-A Birmingham instead.
Mar 10 - 12:43 PM

The White Sox hope Eloy Jimenez (knee) can return to Cactus League action Sunday.

Jimenez has been limited to just one game so far this spring because of tendinitis in his left knee. The top prospect will likely open the season at Double-A Birmingham.
Mar 9 - 2:00 PM

Eloy Jimenez (knee) took batting practice and ran the bases on Wednesday.

Jimenez is recovering from knee tendinitis, and the White Sox have understandably been taking things slow with the star prospect. It remains to be seen when he'll be able to get into a Cactus League game, but there's no rush. His offensive upside is palpable, and there's a real chance he could make his big league debut this summer if things go well.
Mar 7 - 10:57 PM

Eloy Jimenez (knee) said he's feeling better and hopes to be back on the field next week.

"I'm not concerned about this," he said. "I don't think it's something serious. My concern is I want to be playing right now. I'm just losing playing time." He was diagnosed recently with left patella tendinitis and is shut down for a few days in hopes the rest helps. Jimenez was never expected to break camp with the club anyway, so the focus is entirely on making sure he's right, however long that takes. The 21-year-old should make his major league debut some time this season if all goes to plan.
Mar 3 - 4:57 PM

Eloy Jimenez has been diagnosed with left patella tendinitis.

He's been dealing with it since the beginning of camp. Jimenez has been put on some medication and will be shut down from all activity for a few days. The top prospect could potentially debut in the majors in the second half this season.
Mar 2 - 2:23 PM

Eloy Jimenez (knee) was able to spend Wednesday doing hitting drills, and is expected to be at "full capacity" on Thursday.

Jimenez was shut down on Tuesday because of soreness in his left knee, but it sounds like it was just precautionary. The 21-year-old outfielder is one of the best hitting prospects in all of baseball, and could see time with the White Sox before the end of the season.
Feb 28 - 4:23 PM

Eloy Jimenez will be unavailable for the next day or two because of a sore left knee.

It sounds like the White Sox are just being careful with the top prospect. Jimenez will likely open the season at Double-A Birmingham.
Feb 26 - 4:03 PM

White Sox purchased the contract of OF Eloy Jimenez from Double-A Birmingham.

Acquired from the Cubs in the Jose Quintana trade, Jimenez hit .312/.379/.568 with 19 homers between High- and Double-A this season. Slated to turn 21 in a week, Jimenez is among the top prospects in the game.

White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a homer on Sunday for Double-A Birmingham.

The homer is his 19th on the season, and his third as a member of the Barons. Since the promotion to the Southern League, Jimenez has hit .347/.373/.612. There just aren't many prospects who have his power/hit combination. If he could steal bases, he'd be the perfect prospect. Beggars can't be choosers. Jimenez is really good.

White Sox prospect outfielder Eloy Jimenez has been promoted to Double-A Birmingham.

Zack Collins will also make the jump to Double-A. Acquired in last month's Jose Quintana trade with the Cubs, the 20-year-old Jimenez has batted .302/.375/.570 with 16 homers over 71 games this season in High-A. He's regarded as one of the top prospects in the game and should be an important piece in Chicago's rebuilding effort.
