White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a homer on Sunday for Double-A Birmingham.

The homer is his 19th on the season, and his third as a member of the Barons. Since the promotion to the Southern League, Jimenez has hit .347/.373/.612. There just aren't many prospects who have his power/hit combination. If he could steal bases, he'd be the perfect prospect. Beggars can't be choosers. Jimenez is really good.
Aug 28 - 1:16 PM

White Sox prospect outfielder Eloy Jimenez has been promoted to Double-A Birmingham.

Zack Collins will also make the jump to Double-A. Acquired in last month's Jose Quintana trade with the Cubs, the 20-year-old Jimenez has batted .302/.375/.570 with 16 homers over 71 games this season in High-A. He's regarded as one of the top prospects in the game and should be an important piece in Chicago's rebuilding effort.
Aug 15 - 11:42 AM

White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez went 5-for-6 with a homer on Sunday for High-A Winston Salem.

The homer is the second since the trade, and he's now hitting .452 with an .816 slugging percentage with Winston Salem. He's just too good a hitter to be at the lower levels right now. The White Sox should give him a chance to face Double-A pitching before the end of the year. He'll be hitting in Chicago before the end of 2018, and hitting well.
Jul 24 - 1:04 PM

White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez reached base four times on Sunday for High-A Winston Salem.

It's only three games, but Jimenez is hitting .400/.571/.500 since coming over from the Cubs in the Jose Quintana trade. This was a tremendous get for the White Sox organization. The one thing missing in their farm system was a potential middle of the order bat. Bingo. Jimenez has a real chance to be the White Sox right fielder by this point in 2018.
Jul 17 - 1:41 PM

White Sox acquired OF Eloy Jiménez, RHP Dylan Cease, 1B Matt Rose, and INF Bryant Flete from the Cubs for LHP Jose Quintana.

Jimenez ranked fifth overall on Baseball America's midseason top 100 and is the clear centerpiece of this trade for the White Sox, though Cease is also considered a top-100 prospect. Jimenez, 20, was batting .271/.351/.490 with eight home runs and 32 RBI through 42 games this season at High-A Myrtle Beach. He should finish the 2017 campaign with the Double-A affiliate of the White Sox and could be ready for the majors by early 2018.
Jul 13 - 11:59 AM

Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez homered on Sunday for High-A Myrtle Beach.

It's the sixth homer of the season for Jimenez, which is a solid number considering he's played in only 22 games. Since returning from a shoulder bruise, he's hit .293/.398/.560, so it sure doesn't appear there were any long-term ramifications from the injury. Jimenez can really hit, and the Cubs will have to find somewhere for him to play by the summer of 2018.
Jun 12 - 1:40 PM

Cubs outfield prospect Eloy Jimenez (shoulder) is slashing .286/.400/.508 in 75 plate appearances since returning to action with High-A Myrtle Beach.

Jimenez missed the first five weeks of the Carolina League season due to a bone bruise in his right shoulder, but the ultra-talented 20-year-old really hasn't skipped a beat from an overall development perspective. Along with the shiny .908 OPS, he boasts four home runs and 16 RBI through his first 19 games of High-A action. Jimenez could make it to Double-A by the end of the summer and might be a factor in the Cubs' plans for 2018.
Jun 7 - 10:46 AM

Eloy Jimenez (shoulder) has resumed playing the outfield in extended spring training games.

One of the Cubs' top prospects, Jimenez is working his way back from a bone bruise in his right shoulder. The Cubs will continue to take every precaution with the 20-year-old but he should soon be assigned to a minor league affiliate.
Apr 22 - 10:55 AM

Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez (shoulder) has begun serving as the DH in extended spring training games.

Jimenez was shut down in the middle of spring training after suffering a bone bruise in his right shoulder, but he's almost fully healed now. Cubs GM Jed Hoyer said Tuesday that the team hasn't decided where Jimenez will be sent to officially open the 2017 season. The ultra-talented 20-year-old batted .329/.369/.532 with 14 home runs, 81 RBI, eight stolen bases, and 65 runs scored in 112 games last season at Low-A South Bend.
Apr 18 - 6:56 PM

Eloy Jimenez will be shut down for three weeks with a bone bruise in his right shoulder.

Jimenez was sent for X-rays and a CT scan this weekend after injuring his shoulder last week while making a throw in a Cactus League game. The good news is there is no structural damage. The 20-year-old top outfield prospect will probably be sent to High-A ball when he's given a clean bill of health.

Eloy Jimenez underwent tests on his sore right shoulder.

He went for X-rays and a CT scan and should have his results back on Sunday. Jimenez hasn't played since making an awkward throw Tuesday against the Brewers. The highly-touted prospect has held his own in the Cactus League, hitting .321 with two homers and four RBI over 28 at-bats. The 20-year-old Dominican Republic native spent all of last season at Low-A South Bend.
Mar 18 - 6:41 PM

Cubs reassigned OF Eloy Jimenez, OF Mark Zagunis and INF Chesny Young to minor league camp.

The 20-year-old Jimenez impressed in hitting .321 with two homers in 28 at-bats this spring. He's at least a couple of years away -- he's expected to open this season in high-A ball -- but he has the most upside of anyone in the Cubs system.
Mar 17 - 1:08 PM

Cubs prospect outfielder Eloy Jimenez broke up the Reds’ no-hit bid on Friday with solo homer off Jumbo Diaz in the eighth inning.

File this name away if you haven’t heard of him already. Checking in at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Jimenez is quickly emerging as one of the top power-hitting prospects in the game. The 20-year-old batted .329 with 14 homers and a .901 OPS over 112 games with Class A South Bend last season. You know, because the Cubs could really use another big bat.
Mar 3 - 5:44 PM

Cubs OF prospect Eloy Jimenez said that he hopes to make the Opening Day roster.

"I think [it’s possible]. All I’ve got to do is play good and prove to them that I’m ready to play, and see what happens," Jimenez said through a Spanish language interpreter. It might be a fun thought, but don't count it as a realistic one. The 20-year-old spent the 2016 season at Low-A South Bend, where he hit .329/.369/.532 with 14 homers and 81 RBI over 432 at-bats. Fine numbers, to be sure, but an outright jump to the Cubbies at this point in his development would be a major surprise.
