Alex Guerrero clubbed his fourth home run of the season in a losing effort versus the Giants on Thursday.
Guerrero broke a scoreless tie in the second inning with a solo shot off of Ryan Vogelsong. The 28-year-old got a rare start and went 2-for-3. With only 20 plate appearances under his belt, Guerrero already has four home runs, a pair of doubles, and 12 RBI. Apr 23 - 7:33 PM

Alex Guerrero is starting at third base and batting seventh Thursday against the Giants.

It's his reward for slugging a pinch-hit two-run homer off Madison Bumgarner on Wednesday night. Guerrero has three home runs and 11 RBI in just 17 plate appearances this season and should continue to challenge Juan Uribe for starts at the hot corner.

Alex Guerrero launched a pinch-hit, two-run home run off of Madison Bumgarner in the seventh inning of Wednesday's 3-2 loss.

Guerrero's been quite the man for dramatics in the early part of the season. In addition to his big homer against Bumgarner, he also notched a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning of an April 14 contest against the Mariners. Wednesday's home run was Guerrero's third of the season and the RBI his 11th. He doesn't see regular at-bats with the Dodgers, but like fellow bench-mate Scott Van Slyke, he's made the most of his plate appearances. He now has seven hits in 16 AB's

Alex Guerrero's RBI single sent the Dodgers home winners in the 10th inning Monday versus the Mariners.

Guerrero had been 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly coming into the at-bat. With the bases loaded in the 10th inning, Guerrero worked the count to 2-2 against lefty Dominic Leone, who had mostly been throwing breaking balls. Leone served up a fastball, which Guerrero promptly laced into right-center for the walk-off win. Guerrero has only played in three games so far, but he's hit well, notching four hits and six RBI in 11 at-bats.
Apr 14 - 1:16 AM

Alex Guerrero singled and hit a solo home run in four trips to the plate in Saturday's Cactus League game with the Angels.

Guerrero might've had two if Mike Trout had not robbed him of a blast to center field in the first inning. He succeeded in taking Matt Shoemaker deep in the third inning, again to center field. The 28-year-old has impressed this spring, hitting .368 (14-for-38) with three home runs and eight RBI. Guerrero, who made his major league debut last season, will eventually succeed Juan Uribe at third base.

Alex Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a stolen base as the Dodgers fell to the Indians in Cactus League play on Sunday.

More importantly than his performance though, is that he capably handled third base defensively and is proving that he could be an option for the Dodgers at that position. While they are currently entrusting the hot corner to 36-year-old Juan Uribe, Guerrero could wind up being a better option. He's having a terrific spring, hitting .344/.364/.531 with a pair of homers and seven RBI in 32 at-bats.

Alex Guerrero was held out of action Monday in Dodgers camp due to discomfort in his hand.

Guerrero is expected to be fine by Tuesday. The 28-year-old infielder told MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez earlier this month that he has no intention of returning to the minor leagues, and his four-year, $28 million contract with the Dodgers gives him the power to veto any demotion. It's not clear what his role is going to be in 2015.
Mar 9 - 12:14 PM

Alex Guerrero indicated in an interview with Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com that he has no intention of returning the minor leagues.

The 28-year-old stated, "I don't want to go down. I'm not going down. I feel like I can get better here at this level and play every day." Guerrero signed a four-year, $28 million deal with the Dodgers before the 2014 season that included a clause that he can't be optioned to the minor leagues without his permission after his first season. That means the Dodgers will be forced to keep him on the roster in a reserve role, trade him elsewhere or release him.

Dodgers recalled INF Alex Guerrero from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Guerrero, who signed a four-year, $28 million contract with the Dodgers over the winter, hit .329/.364/.613 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI over 65 games in Triple-A this season. He likely would have been in the majors sooner if it wasn't for the ear-biting incident with teammate Miguel Olivo back in May. Look for him to serve in a utility role down the stretch.

Dodgers prospect second base prospect Alex Guerrero went 4-for-6 with a double and a triple for Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Guerrero has been hot, and is now hitting .329/.365/.594 over 59-injury interrupted games in Triple-A. He will be promoted to the major leagues in September, and has been playing some third base, some shortstop, and some left field over the past few weeks in order to prepare for a utility role down the stretch.

Dodgers second base prospect Alex Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a double for Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

Guerrero is hitting .258/.292/.339 over 16 games since his return from his ear injury while spending most of his time at second base. He has also spent time at third base (one game) and left field (four full games, parts of two others). His long-term role is muddled as he is not a major league shortstop and Dee Gordon seems to have second base locked down in LA.

Alex Guerrero (ear) has rejoined Triple-A Albuquerque.

Guerrero missed two months after Miguel Olivo bit off a chunk of his ear during a scuffle in the Albuquerque dugout in late May. The Cuban infielder has been a force offensively when healthy and still has a good chance to make his major league debut in August.

Alex Guerrero (ear) went 1-for-2 with a double in his first rehab game Sunday at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Guerrero was 8-for-23 (.348) with a double and two home runs in seven games for the Dodgers' Arizona League team before moving his rehab to High-A ball this weekend. He played second base on Sunday at Rancho Cucamonga but saw time at both shortstop and third base in the AZL. The Cuban infielder is rehabbing from surgery to reattach a large portion of his ear that was bit off in May during a fight with Miguel Olivo. Guerrero could make his major league debut sometime in August.

Alex Guerrero (ear) will report to the Dodgers' spring training complex soon to resume working out.

Guerrero had surgery last month to reattach a large portion of his ear following an incident with former teammate Miguel Olivo. "The ear is going to make it," Guerrero's agent, Scott Boras told said. "The surgery was a success, and he won't need another surgery." Guerrero will return to a .368/.411/.737 batting line with 10 homers and 29 RBI when gets back in action.

Agent Scott Boras said Alex Guerrero is progressing following surgery to reattach a large portion of his ear.

"We're still not out of the woods. But we're optimistic. The doctor gave a good report [on Thursday]," Boras told CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman. There won't be any timetable for Guerrero's return until the Dodgers know whether the ear has healed correctly. According to Boras, Guerrero has yet to decide whether to press charges against Miguel Olivo, who bit his ear in an incident in Triple-A on May 20.
