White Sox recalled RHP Frankie Montas from Double-A Birmingham.
In 112 Double-A innings, Montas owned a 2.97 ERA and 108/48 K/BB ratio. He's a hard-thrower and at just 22 years old, there's still plenty of time for him to cash in on his upside. He worked as a starter in the minors, though it's unknown whether he'll continue to see starts with the White Sox as we hit the home stretch. Double-A to the bigs is a pretty big jump for such a young guy. Sep 1 - 3:16 PM

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the White Sox are expected to call up Frankie Montas for Friday's doubleheader versus the Royals.

It's unclear whether he'll start one of the games or be available out of the bullpen. Montas, 22, is one of the hardest throwers in the minors and has a bunch of upside. The young right-hander boasts a 2.47 ERA and 62/29 K/BB ratio over 73 innings at Double-A Birmingham this season. While undoubtedly an intriguing arm, he seems likely to be sent back down after the doubleheader for more seasoning.
