According to Doug Padilla of ESPN Chicago, the White Sox are set to allow Marcus Semien, Micah Johnson and Carlos Sanchez to compete for the team's starting second base job in 2015.
With extraordinary depth at the position, Padilla speculates that the organization could look to deal one of the trio in order to upgrade the team elsewhere. Semien has the most big league experience of the three, but hit just .234/.300/.372 with six homers and 28 RBI in 64 games at the big league level. Fantasy owners will be hoping that Johnson winds up with the gig, as his game-changing speed could be incredibly valuable. Oct 11 - 3:43 PM

Marcus Semien hit a two-run homer and drove in a third run with a walk in Sunday's loss to the Royals.

Semien hit the two-run shot, his sixth of the year, in the third inning before driving in another run with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. The 24-year-old had some big games this year but finished hitting .234/.300/.372.
Sep 28 - 7:51 PM

Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 including a three-run home run in a win over the Rays on Sunday.

Semien delivered the big blow in the White Sox' four-run second inning, taking Rays starter Nate Karns deep for a three-run shot. He also singled and scored in the sixth inning. Semien has five home runs on the year but owns just a .234/.298/.364 line on the year.
Sep 21 - 5:38 PM

Marcus Semien homered for the White Sox's lone run in Thursday's win over the A's.

Semien took Scott Kazmir deep in the sixth for his fourth homer of the year. He's currently playing less than Carlos Sanchez and hitting a whole lot lower in the lineup when he does play, but he is the one with the brighter future in Chicago. His fantasy value is limited to AL-only leagues at the moment.
Sep 11 - 4:54 PM

White Sox recalled INF Marcus Semien from Triple-A Charlotte.

Semien batted just .218/.287/.327 with three homers and three steals prior to his demotion in early June, but he finished the season on a high note in Triple-A. He figures to share playing time with Carlos Sanchez at second base this month and is worth watching in deeper fantasy leagues.
Sep 2 - 2:47 PM

White Sox prospect IF/OF Marcus Semien went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI on Sunday for Triple-A Charlotte.

He also scored three runs and drew a walk in the game. Semien struggled last month after receiving a demotion to Triple-A, hitting just .188/.292/.365 over 27 games. In July, however, Semien's bat has come alive to the tune of a .333/.429/.604 batting line, two home runs, seven doubles and 15 RBI through 12 games. He also has emerged as a legitimate super-utility man, as he's seen time at numerous positions including second and third base, shortstop, and left field. Expect Semien to return to the major leagues at some point during the second half of the season.
Jul 14 - 12:38 PM

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Monday that Marcus Semien will see some playing time in the outfield at Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox are trying to increase the versatility of Semien, who was just optioned on Monday. The 23-year-old has never played the outfield since being drafted in 2011 but will no doubt be willing to do whatever is asked of him if it means a ticket back to the majors.
Jun 2 - 10:10 PM

White Sox optioned INF Marcus Semien to Triple-A Charlotte.

Semien got the boot Sunday to open up a 25-man roster spot for Jose Abreu, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday afternoon. Semien was batting just .218/.287/.327 in 181 plate appearances this season as a backup at second and third base. He could get another try when there is more playing time available to him.
Jun 2 - 3:00 PM

Marcus Semien delivered an RBI double with two outs in the 12th inning on Monday, breaking a 1-1 tie and leading the White Sox to a 3-1 victory over the Cubs.

He finished the evening 2-for-5. The White Sox got a two-out rally started when Alexei Ramirez singled and stole second base and Tyler Flowers walked, setting the stage for Semien’s run-scoring knock off Justin Grimm. While he’s hitting just .220 on the season, Semien has had plenty of mixed league fantasy value with 19 runs scored, three homers, 16 RBI and three stolen bases.
May 6 - 12:07 AM

Marcus Semien went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's loss to the Indians.

He also left five runners on base. The poor performance drops his season line to .218/.276/.355. Semien is currently filling in for the injured Conor Gillaspie, and could see significantly reduced playing time once he's healthy.
May 2 - 10:50 PM

Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in the White Sox' win over the Rays on Sunday.

Semien also drove in a run with his seventh-inning double. The infielder is batting just .227 on the season, but he seems to come up with a big game just often enough to stay in the White Sox lineup. It will be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out when Conor Gillaspie returns.
Apr 27 - 7:27 PM

Marcus Semien went 1-for-4 with a timely grand slam as the White Sox defeated the Tigers 6-4 on Wednesday.

Semien's seventh-inning grand slam put the White Sox ahead 6-4, a lead they would hold on to for the final three innings. Semien hasn't been very reliable with the bat, but is on a four-game hitting streak with as many extra-base hits in that span. He'll have to keep it going in order to maintain playing time once Gordon Beckham is activated.
Apr 23 - 10:23 PM

Marcus Semien went 4-for-6 with four RBI as the White Sox crushed the Rangers 16-2 on Sunday.

Semien had four of the Sox' 18 hits and knocked in four of the team's 16 runs as they pounded Robbie Ross and the Rangers bullpen. Semien's big damage came on a bases-loaded triple in the sixth inning, his first triple of the year. Semien is talented but hasn't hit for a high average thus far, and his at-bats could be cut into when Gordon Beckham returns.
Apr 20 - 7:49 PM

Marcus Semien continued his recent struggles in Friday's loss to the Rangers, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

As a team, the White Sox managed just three hits off Martin Perez who was brilliant. Semien's run of usefulness may be coming to an end now that Gordon Beckham is nearing a return. He's hitting just .197/.260/.310 with two homers, five RBI and two stolen bases in 71 at-bats.
Apr 18 - 11:07 PM

Marcus Semien is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

It's just a routine day off for Semien who has started each of the White Sox first 11 games. Leury Garcia will take his place at second base and hit second for the White Sox against Justin Masterson and the Indians.
