Marcus Semien finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's game at Texas.
Semien reached double-digit homers on the penultimate day of the regular season after belting 27 bombs in 2016. His season was derailed by a fractured wrist, but he actually ended up coming back and posting a career-best .325 on-base percentage and .717 OPS, slightly lower than the .735 he posted in his breakout campaign last season. Marcus Semien finished 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in the Athletics' defeat of the Tigers on Wednesday.

Semien hit an RBI double in the top of the third inning and a two-run homer in the top of the seventh, providing all of the meaningful offense for the A's in their eventual 3-2 victory at Comerica Park. It's been somewhat of a lost season for Semien, who missed chunks of April, June, and July with a fractured right wrist. He's batting .253/.335/.390 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in 75 games.

Marcus Semien is getting the night off Tuesday.

Semien went 2-for-5 with three runs scored in Monday night's win, but Franklin Barreto will get a start at shortstop and bat leadoff for the Athletics on Tuesday versus Tigers left-hander Chad Bell.
Sep 19 - 4:49 PM

Marcus Semien finished 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, three walks and a stolen base in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday against Houston.

Semien still had a strikeout to five him 10 whiffs across 36 at-bats in September, but he has hit safely in eight of his past nine games heading into the night cap.
Sep 9 - 8:50 PM

Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a grand slam as Oakland's leadoff hitter in Friday's 9-8 win over the Astros.

Semien singled and came around to score the winning run in the ninth on Jed Lowrie's hit. The slam off Luke Gregerson in the seventh was the third of his career. He's batting an improved .297 in his last 21 games.

Marcus Semien (wrist) is back in the Athletics' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Orioles.

Semien sat out Tuesday after making an early exit from Monday's series opener in Baltimore when he irritated the scar tissue around his surgically-repaired right wrist, but the 26-year-old is starting at shortstop and batting second Wednesday versus Orioles right-hander Dylan Bundy. Semien has slashed .249/.333/.381 with five home runs and seven stolen bases in 51 games this season.

Marcus Semien (wrist) is not in the Athletics' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Orioles.

Semien was lifted from Monday's series opener in Baltimore after irritating the scar tissue in his surgically-repaired right wrist, but the discomfort shouldn't keep him out long. Chad Pinder will start at shortstop and bat seventh Tuesday versus O's right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez. Daily Slant: Even without Semien in the lineup, the A's are still one of the sneakier potential GPP stacks of the night. Semien's absence allows them to slot four left-handed bats into the top six of the order, something that should bode well for them given Ubaldo Jimenez's splits. Jimenez has allowed a whopping 2.78 HR/9 rate (1.23 vs. RHBs) to lefties, and this A's lineup does possess some nice pop against RHP. Focus on the lefties in this lineup, most of which are available at cheap price tags.

Marcus Semien was lifted from Monday's game against the Orioles after irritating the scar tissue in his surgically-repaired right wrist.

It's not a big deal, but the A's could hold Semien out of action Tuesday just to be safe. For what it's worth, Semien thinks he'll be ready to play Tuesday. He was hitless in three plate appearances Monday before being pulled.
Aug 21 - 10:35 PM

Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 and cracked a two-run homer during a loss to the Royals on Wednesday.

His shot off starter Danny Duffy gave the Athletics a short-lived lead in the third inning. Semien spent almost the entire first half of the season on the disabled list with a broken wrist. He struggled when first returning in early July but has been good enough to be semi-useful in fantasy leagues of late. He has a .254 batting average with five homers and 20 RBI in 47 games overall. He is running more this year and has seven stolen bases without being caught. His career high is 11 steals in 155 games back in 2015.
Aug 16 - 8:06 PM

Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a grand slam Monday as the A's topped the Giants 8-5.

Semien hit his second career slam off George Kontos in the sixth inning. He's batting .262 with four homers and 14 RBI in 21 games since returning from a fractured wrist. He's still a fringy option in mixed leagues, but that he's 7-for-7 stealing bases (in 32 games) makes him more interesting than he'd otherwise be. He had just 10 steals in 159 games last year.
Aug 1 - 1:55 AM

Marcus Semien cranked a two-run home run in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

His fifth-inning johnson off starter Marco Estrada stood as the only scoring in the ballgame until the bottom of the ninth when closer Santiago Casilla came unglued to blow the game. The homer was Semien's only hit of the ballgame, although he did draw a walk. He owns a lowly .208 batting average with three homers, 10 RBI and seven stolen bases in 27 games. He missed three months of the season with a fractured wrist.
Jul 26 - 10:34 PM

Marcus Semien finished 4-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in Friday’s loss to the Mets.

All four hits were singles. He knocked in runs in the fifth and eighth innings. Coming into Friday’s game, Semien was just 5-for-38 (.132) through his first 10 games since coming off the disabled list. He’s obviously capable of better moving forward
Jul 21 - 11:18 PM

The Athletics discussed a multi-year deal with Marcus Semien this offseason.

They also had brief discussions with Khris Davis. Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the A's were mulling a five-year deal with Semien and though nothing came of it, the shortstop would be open to revisiting those talks. "Every player wants to make sure they’re doing what’s right for them and their family," he said. "But ever since I broke my wrist, nothing’s happening and I’m hitting below .200, so I don’t know. We haven’t talked since the spring." Semien is under contract through 2020 so obviously there's no sense of urgency here.
Jul 20 - 10:36 PM

Marcus Semien went 0-for-4 with a strikeout as the Athletics were shut out by the Mariners on Sunday afternoon in Seattle.

Semien hit safely in each of his first three games after returning from the disabled list, but the entire A's offense was anemic on Sunday, generating just two total hits. Semien heads into the break slashing just .173/.328/.288 with one homer and four RBI in 64 plate appearances.
Jul 9 - 7:39 PM

Marcus Semien finished 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 7-2 setback in Seattle.

Semien returned to the lineup Thursday after missing nearly three months due to a fractured right wrist. He has hit safely in each of the games, although he has three strikeouts over eight at-bats. Give him a while to knock off the rust and get back into the groove before plugging him back into the active fantasy lineup.
